So after 6 months of prepping I did it

Im a weight loss surg veteran

First good for you. I had gastric segmentation (early band surg) about 15 years ago. Then about 3 years ago had it reversed due to esophagus issues. Be careful. The surg is like anything else. It can be cheated and of you get in the habit of eating and then throwing it bAck up. You will eventually have to reverse it. When I had mine removed in opted for bypass surg. Both surgeries worked for me. I managed to drop 135 lbs and keep it off for the whole time I had the band. Then with the bypass I have lost the last thirty or so lbs that I could never seem to drop. I'm at one half of my original body weight. So for my height 5ft 8 and my new body at 170 lbs. I'm in a really good place.
U have to and will eventually learn to eat to live and not love to eat.
Good luck on your journey. You can do it. Just keep ur head up and remember how unhappy u were before.

She's 60 pounds less of an amazing lady than she was, but in this case, that's a good thing.

Ughhh my weight loss is at a stand still for too long now. I think it is because mom was back in the hospital again and I wasn't able to get to the gym and the stress of all of it. Lets see if getting back on track and mom feeling better does the trick.

Fingers crossed, good vibes powered up

I'm dropping in to say don't get discouraged! You're doing great! It is such a courageous choice to undergo this type of surgery and to undertake this journey.

My sister underwent the procedure 17 years ago. It seems like yesterday. I was by her side and I couldn't believe what I saw her go through.

At first, her weight loss was quick and dramatic. If my memory serves me right, she plateaued at about 60 pounds of weight loss, as well. She continued to lose weight at a slower pace, but by the 1-year to 1-1/2-year mark, she had lost well over 100 pounds.

She was about 320 pounds when she had the procedure done. She is 145 pounds today and she has been for many, many years.

I have always been, and will always remain, so proud of her. I am still in awe of her bravery and perseverance. It changed her life in the most beautiful ways. She is in her 50s, perfectly healthy, more active than I am (and I'm her baby sister), and she is still very happy with her decision.

Sending you all of my warmest wishes.

Thank you for taking the time to tell me that. It is scary to see things slowing down but I am glad that other people have gone through it. I can continue forward with a bit more pep in my step now. :cattail:

OK 10 days and the scale is not budging. Now my dilemma is I am getting scared that this is all the surgery will do for me and the weight loss is finished. Not sure if I need to find a good support group online or see the doctor to ask him why this is happening. Not so happy right now

Awe, Kajira, No - this should not be the end of your weight loss. By far.

I vote for a support group, definitely. My sister had one as well that was local and they would meet monthly. It was actually a requirement back then. She would have to go for weigh-ins and they had support staff there.

*hugs you*

Please, don't lose faith. You've come so far. I'll be thinking of you.

It's a journey, just like life. There will be ups and downs.

Hang in there, lady.

ETA: I am saying it should not be the end, but I am no expert of course. I only go by my sister's experience. I am not sure what your starting weight was, so again, I'm only going by hers. *more hugs*

It's not all the surgery is going to do for you. You WILL start losing again. Change up your routine. Do a different exercise regimen for a while. Don't lose faith. You will start losing again.

How much more do you want to lose?
It may be that your body went in preservation mode, thinking you lost too much too fast. That happens. Your metabolism changes to deal with what it may feel as starvation. What you can do about it is, as mentioned, change something in eating or working out habits.

I was found high blood sugar and cholesterol levels lately, my doctor told me I should try change my eating habits before going on any medication. So I replaced a lot of food with raw fruits and vegetables and right now am trying intermittent fasting which suits me fine, I was never keen on eating all day long. I am not sure if that would be ok for you considering your surgery.
I have been on it for barely a few weeks but I feel I have more energy, my skin looks healthier and for some odd reason my chronic cough is gone.
Boosting a metabolism in some way always worked for me if I wanted to lose weight, you can read about that online and pick whatever looks the best/most sensible to you.

OK it started back up already and i had to really kick ass to take off this last 7 pounds...but ya know what? it was good for me to have to work hard at it. I hope this means i am back on track. I am almost there! :)
