Foo Fighters - The Pretender

Keep you in the dark
You know they all pretend
Keep you in the dark
And so it all began

Send in your skeletons
Sing as their bones go marching in... again
The need you buried deep
The secrets that you keep are ever ready
Are you ready?
I'm finished making sense
Done pleading ignorance
That whole defense

Spinning infinity, boy
The wheel is spinning me
It's never-ending, never-ending
Same old story

[Chorus (x2):]
What if I say I'm not like the others?
What if I say I'm not just another one of your plays?
You're the pretender
What if I say I will never surrender?

In time or so I'm told
I'm just another soul for sale... oh, well
The page is out of print
We are not permanent
We're temporary, temporary
Same old story

[Chorus x2]

I'm the voice inside your head
You refuse to hear
I'm the face that you have to face
Mirrored in your stare
I'm what's left, I'm what's right
I'm the enemy
I'm the hand that will take you down
Bring you to your knees

So who are you?
Yeah, who are you?
Yeah, who are you?
Yeah, who are you?

Keep you in the dark
You know they all pretend

[Chorus x2]

[x2]
What if I say I'm not like the others?
(Keep you in the dark)
What if I say I'm not just another one of your plays?
(You know they all... pretend)
You're the pretender
What if I say I will never surrender?

So who are you?
Yeah, who are you?
Yeah, who are you?

Atreyu - Becoming The Bull

Come on!

Grab the bull by the horns the old adage goes.
Nobody tells you where to go from here.
Seems like fates pulling you.
Decisions have to be made.
The best path is the hardest earned.

Back and forth the struggle consumes us all.
Trying to keep a level head.
In the most unsettling of times.
Today I'll become the bull.

There is so much to stake.
I stumble, I lose my place.
Pride and arrogance surrounded by sin.
Destiny takes it's hold.
Fight it or let it go.
But I choose how the day will end.

Back and forth the struggle consumes us all.
Trying to keep a level head.
In the most unsettling of times.
Today I'll become the bull. [x2]

This walk can get lonely
I lose myself inside my head.
No one can touch you when you're outside staring in.
Remove myself from this rat race.

Back and forth the struggle consumes us all.
Trying to keep a level head.
The most unsettling of times.
Today I'll become the bull. [x5]

Pop Evil - Boss's Daughter

That girl she's a loaded gun
Gonna take em out take em one by one
She knows when she's dressed to kill
She'll put a bullet in your heart just to feel the thrill

She walks like she's walkin on water
She moves like the boss's daughter
She rides like a 57 Chevy
In her drop top red and white and blue

Ohhh what she does to me
With her long dark hair and her sexy thighs
Baby let me come inside

Cuz she's hell on heels
And she turns my wheels
With her devil smile and her angel eyes
She got me all hypnotized
And she's hell on heels

That girl needs somebody like me
A real man born with a sex degree
I was raised by the devil's own kin
Taught me that a good time was never a sin

She walks like she's walkin on water
She moves like the boss's daughter
She rides like a 57 Chevy
In her drop top red and white and blue

Ohhh what she does to me
With her long dark hair and her sexy thighs
Baby let me come inside

Cuz she's hell on heels
And she turns my wheels
With her devil smile and her angel eyes
She got me all hypnotized
And she's hell on heels

I love the way she moves those heels from hell
Lunch breaks lead to drinks in cheap hotels
I'm just another guy she'll burn inside her fire
I'd sell my soul for her desire
She's hell on heels

With her long dark hair and her sexy thighs
Baby let me come inside

Cuz she's hell on heels
And she turns my wheels
With her devil smile and her angel eyes
She got me all hypnotized
And she's hell on heels

And she's hell on heels
She's hell on her heels
You got me got me
With your devil smile and her angel eyes
She got me all hypnotized
She's hell on heels

You know, some guys just can't hold their arsenic.

Cell Block Tango

You know how people
have these little habits
That get you down. Like Bernie.
Bernie like to chew gum.
No, not chew. POP.

So I came home this one day,
And I am really irritated, and
looking for a little sympathy
and there's Bernie layin'
on the couch, drinkin' a beer
and chewin'. No, not chewin'.
Poppin'!

So, I said to him,
I said, "You pop that
gum one more time..."
and he did.
So I took the shotgun off the wall
and I fired two warning shots...
...into his head.

.........................

I met Ezekiel Young from
Salt Lake city about two years ago
and he told me he was single
and we hit it off right away.

So, we started living together.
He'd go to work, he'd come home,
I'd fix him a drink, We'd have dinner.

And then I found out,
"Single" he told me?
Single, my ass.
Not only was he married
...oh, no, he had six wives.
One of those Mormons, you know.

So that night, when he came home,
I fixed him his drink as usual.
You know,
some guys just can't hold their arsenic.

...........................................

Now, I'm standing in the kitchen
carvin' up the chicken for dinner,
minding my own business,
and in storms my husband Wilbur,
in a jealous rage.

"You been screwin' the milkman,"
he says. He was crazy
and he kept screamin',
"you been screwin the milkman."

And then he ran into my knife.
He ran into my knife ten times!

..................................

My sister, Veronica and I did this double act
and my husband, Charlie,
used to travel round with us.

Now, for the last number in our act,
we did these 20 acrobatic tricks in a row
One,two,three,four,five...splits, spread eagles,
back flips, flip flops, one right after the other.

So this one night before the show
we're down at the hotel Cicero,
the three of us, boozin', havin' a few laughs and
we ran out of ice, so I go out to get some.

I come back, open the door,
and there's Veronica and Charlie
doing Number Seventeen.
The spread eagle.

Well, I was in such a state of shock,
I completely blacked out. I can't remember a thing.
It wasn't until later,
when I was washing the blood off my hands
I even knew they were dead.

...................................

I loved Al Lipschitz more than I can possibly say.
He was a real artistic guy...
sensitive... a painter.
But he was always trying to find himself.

He'd go out every night
looking for himself
and on the way,
he found Ruth,
Gladys,
Rosemary and Irving.

I guess you can say we broke
up because of artistic differences.
He saw himself as alive
and I saw him dead.

VT- I love that song. My friends all surmised that I'd be the one to stab her husband 10 times. :D

La mer
Qu'on voit danser le long des golfes clairs
A des reflets d'argent
La mer
Des reflets changeants
Sous la pluie

La mer
Au ciel d'ete confond
Ses blancs moutons
Avec les anges si purs
La mer bergere d'azur
Infinie
Voyez
Pres des etangs
Ces grands roseaux mouilles
Voyez
Ces oiseaux blancs
Et ces maisons rouillees

La mer
Les a berces
Le long des golfes clairs
Et d'une chanson d'amour
La mer
A berce mon coeur pour la vie

I can't decide between the two warning shots or the arsenic. I should probably go with the arsenic. With my hand eye coordination, I'd miss.

At close range, I think even poor hand-eye coordination would be able to hit someone with a shotgun.

Not that I plan to find out.

Josh Ritter - To the Dogs or Whoever

Deep in the belly of a whale I found her
Down with the deep blue jail around her
Running her hands through the ribs of the dark
Florence and Calamity and Joan of Arc

I love the way she looks in her underwear
I lose my page then the plot then the book then I swear
She makes the most of her time by loving me plenty
She knows there'll come a day when we won't be getting any

The stain of the sepia the butcher Crimea
Through the wreck of a brass band I thought I could see her
In a cakewalk she came through the dead and the lame
Just a little bird floating on a hurricane

I was flat on my back with my feet in the thorns
I was in between the apples and the chloroform
She came to me often
I was sure I was dying
It was always hard to tell if she was laughing or crying

I thought I heard somebody calling
In the dark I thought I heard somebody call

Joan never cared about the in-betweens
Combed her hair with a blade did the Maid of Orleans
Said Christ walked on water we can wade through the war
You don't need to tell me who the fire is for

Oh bring me the love that can sweeten a sword
A boat that can love the rocks or the shore
The love of the iceberg reaching out for a wreck
Can you love me like the crosses love the nape of the neck?

Was it Casey Jones or Casey at the Bat
Who died out of pride and got famous for that
Killed by a swerve laid low by the curve
Do you ever think they ever thought they got what they deserved

Pity the bullet and pity the man
Who both find their place in the same sad plan
Who both are like the barrel going over the falls
Crying all the way down I never asked to be involved

I thought I heard somebody calling In the dark I thought I heard somebody call

General George began the day by taking pink little pills
Sent his men to the top of some hell of a hill
Through the whisper of trees came artillery breeze
He said I love the way the wind comes a'tickling my knees

Jane shot the apple right between the eyes
I was thinking of her when you came outside
Lemonade on your breath sun in your hair
Did I mention how I love you in your underwear?

Deep in the belly of a whale I found her
Down with the deep blue jail around her
Running her hands through the ribs of the dark
Florence and Calamity and Joan of Arc

I thought I heard somebody calling
In the dark I thought I heard somebody call

Also, Jesse L. Martin and Tracie Thoms kill it in that version of Seasons of Love. The movie wasn't the best, but their voices were both amazing.

*deep breath*

With Nanet Hemmilfarb, the rabbi's daughter at the Scarsdale Jewish Community Center.

*grins*

Damn you...this is all your fault...cuz NOW...

I gotta go find the Jo-Anne/Maureen song....

as I used to sing Jo's part to my baby mama, all the time.

(she loved it...I have that sexy growly thing down...)

*chest bump*

FUCK YES...

I love the movie though. I think they did a good job adapting as much of it as they did from the original play.

*sighs*

I want Tracie Thoms...babies. Impossible I know. Even so...yeah, me and her...alone...in a bed...

Yeah.. I might have a bit of a crush on Tracie Thoms.

Did you ever see Wonderfalls?

Yeah.. I might have a bit of a crush on Tracie Thoms.

Did you ever see Wonderfalls?

No. Should I have? Do I have to look it up now?

And I do NOT blame you one bit for TT crushing. Hell, she'd friggin' adorbs...with a killer...voice...

eep...one song I had forgotten...makes me cry...

The reprise...I'll cover you.

JLM...

*sniffles*

Man, that reprise is killer. And again, Jesse L. just destroys it in the movie version of that song. So low, so soulful.. just fantastic.

But yeah, Wonderfalls. It's a pretty great show that, much like Firefly, never really got a chance on Fox. But Tracie Thoms is in it, and is really good in it I think.

*nods*

Yes. He does. I was blown away by that song. Bawled like a baby...still do, matter o' fact.

I just spent ten minutes reading about it. (Wonderfalls~thank you Wiki)

Yet again, a brilliant show idea that was booted way before it's time. And people wonder WHY I don't watch TV.
