Songs of Summer

I'm gonna say Brown Eyed Girl by Van Morrison (Really I like that song anytime of year 'cuz I have DeepBrownEyes...yeah, doesn't have the same ring to it)

Also:

Pour Some Sugar On Me - Def Leppard

All Summer Long -Kid Rock

Summer of 69 - Bryan Adams

Any Beach Boys song...and a bunch of others, but I'm too lazy to think or provide links. :)

OK, DBE, those are fine additions. And the one I bolded? I can never hear it, or even think of it, without laughing, because this.

LOL...even that goofy clip won't ruin the song for me. I think the great thing about music is how it can take you back to a particular place and time in your memories. I was still in high school when that song came out...don't even think I had my driver's license yet, but lots of my friends did. Cruising the strip, windows down, the summer heat whipping through your hair, skimpy outfits everywhere...and whenever that song came on it was an instant party. People danced on top of cars, singing along loudly in the streets...not a worry in the world, just having fun. Good times...

So true! So many songs are little memory soundtracks. They'll forever be that to my brain: Road trips with friends, camping, breakups.

This has been a favorite song that an old boyfriend dedicated to me.
We quit dating when I was 19 because he got too serious and I just wasn't ready to elope with him...but, damn, if he wasn't within 60 miles of Vegas before I convinced him to turn around.

We are still in touch...

Ok, ok….
I’ve been following the College World Series….

Good to see ya, DGE!!

I going to date myself here, but any track off of Boston's debut album.
And all the better if it's played at max volume from an 8-track cassette tape with the car windows rolled down.

Not a huge fan of the summer heat here with the sun pounding down like a hammer on an anvil.

But, oh those hot summer nights...

Summer bump. I had to add August.

Salt air
and the rust on your door
I never needed anything more

Read this and realized that most summer songs that came to mind were either Swedish and usually more fun memories than good songs or super old and already mentioned.
Then I heard an old Swedish summer song by Markoolio (who tends to make songs that ten year old boys love):

Yeah, No Summer Without Reggae and that made me think of the intro to Wayne Wade’s Lady, which just reeks of summer to me:

I also remembered this classic:

I’m not really old enough for Les Humphries Singers’ Mexico, but my gym teacher at school was and that song is running for warm up during gym class in the summers back in school.

I can’t hear it without feeling that running tempo in my whole body and that same gym teacher is responsible for forever linking Unchain My Heart by Joe Cocker with doing slow sit ups and push ups.

These practically drip with perspiration!

Summer tunes seem particularly evocative of time and place. So many long drives, beach walks, lost loves, sit ups.

All time favourite:

And I somehow like that weird mashup of two great songs:
