Stuff from the past that you miss!

Prices, where the average working Joe or Jane could afford to buy a house and raise a family and still go on a simple family vacation every year.

Safe neighborhoods, where kids could play outside until dark and walk to and from school on their own.

Neighbors that supported neighbors and everyone knew the other people on the block.

Politeness and consideration for others.

Yeah, all of those! I am lucky in that at least I know several of the neighbors. We're not exactly friends but we do look out for each other.

I live in a suburb of Seattle. That city has gotten so bad, I do all I can to avoid it.

Aw,,,

Loved the Flinstones. Came on at dinner time. I was allowed to watch it and eat in front of the TV.

Every day after school. The Flintstones and a bowl of cereal. Laying on my stomach in front of the tv. Like 6 inches in front!

The anticipatory thrill of the sound of a dial-up modem.

The anticipatory thrill of the sound of a dial-up modem.

Oh hell yes! When I had a 2400 baud rate modem and finally was able to get a 9600 baud rate American Robotics modem I thought I'd done died and gone to heaven.

I worked for a local municipality. We had two phone lines and my boss would be on the phone talking to someone and have his damned computer connected to the other line so he could do his stock trading on company time. We'd have to sit and wait for him to clear one line or the other (which normally took a half hour or more) so we could call for parts. I finally got pissed and found out I could pick up the shop phone and make that scratchy modem sound with my voice. The computer would interpret it as gobbledygook and disconnect. I'd then call the parts store and order my parts. He spent a lot of time trying to figure out why his damned computer would disconnect at irregular intervals. He never did figured it out.

Comshaw

I miss walking around my neighborhood in the middle of the night, butt ass naked and hard. Very few street lights, no cell phones and most people asleep.
I never got caught and I loved the adrenaline rush.

Don't forget: Cagney and Lacey, Kolchak: The Night Stalker, Cannon, Lenny and Squiggy, and M*A*S*H 4077.

from the UK, so we only got Cagney and Lacey which i liked, and M*A*S*H i got to see some of back there. i love that programme and still watch it today over here, and have about caught up on every episode ever made. radar's till my favourite.

TV dinners that were in an aluminum tray. So not healthy but better than the microwave "tastes like cardboard" stuff.

Milk in glass bottles.

Hawkeye and Radar are my favorites. I love watching Hawkeye and his "wingman" burn Burns.

LT's tall tales, Luke chasing women, pakis, heterosexuals, and gays or lesbians all over the GB - THEN see them turn on him as he slithers away.

Then there's Ginny's old threads. I miss Ginny.:(

...

Milk in glass bottles.

1/3 pint milk at school with cardboard tops that you pushed a straw through. The cardboard tops, once washed, were used to do French knitting or to make pompoms for bobble hats (Or tea cosies).

What I don't miss - school meals with rationing made with loads of stodge; tapioca; rolypoly puddings with jam substitute.

I do miss - bread with dripping and sugar; Radio Malt and NHS orange juice.

Those are gone too? I hated the chocolate ones.

Butt fucking college girls. I wonder if my lady will consider going back to college?

If I buy organic milk, it still comes in glass bottles. Cold chocolate milk, from a glass bottle is like dessert.
