Tattoos on men: sexy or not?

I think it depends on WHY you're getting the tattoo, and what it's of. If you got a tattoo of a garden gnome one night when you were drunk that's not sexually all. If you got a tattoo of...a ribbon for an illness someone you know died of, or the initials of someone who means a lot to you, or something else that actually means something to you, and you can pull it off, then it's attractive. If you're think tattoos will make a girl like you, the best bet is to explain the tattoo when she sees it, shows a little emotional sensitivity along with the tough guy act you're putting on.

That really depends on the guy and tattoo.

But general rule of thumb:

Tribal Tattoo = Wannabe
Chinese Characters = Douche Bag and/or Tool

I think that tats on guys can be incredibly sexy or incredibly stupid.

The tattoo itself has to be done very professionally and not a crappy job or no matter what the artwork is or the placement it will be ugly.

The artwork has to be something that is sexy too... to me a tattoo is to accentuate the body, not just be something stupid or humorous or boorish.

Then proper placement on the body is essential too. The artwork has to fit the space and the space has to be somewhere that the artwork would look good at.

As to tats on women... I think that 75% of the tats I see on women are not sexy at all. Some due to poor quality work, but more often bad placement and design of the tat. And sooooo cliched tats that make me want to puke, butterflies and roses.

I can take it or leave it. If they have them, as my husband does I prefer them tastefully done. I have seen people with what looked like very amateur prison tattoos and they are a turn off. I also love women with beautiful tattoo artwork. Very sexy to me.

Yep.

To the best of my recollection, none of the guys I've ever "gone all the way with" have had any tattoos.

Where I live even were you to be bisexual you would have to settle for me or celibacy... I'm pretty sure I'm the only non-inked individual over the age of 15 in about a 40 50 mile radius.

Tattoos on men don't look half bad if the envisioned designed is properly executed.:) Placement matters. I'll echo previously stated opinions that I prefer ones with an interesting story or background, and personally am not too fond of tribal, face tattoos or other perfunctory designs. That includes peekaboo pistols and kanji letters as well.

I feel like I am the only guy I know who has no tattoos.

My upper arm half sleeve for my time in the service and the friends that I lost... Gotta love tats... Women with tats are sexy as hell too!

I really think it depends ond the built and the skincolour of the man. a muscular tanned man, I like with a tattoo...
I like the more lean built men as well, but I don't think They can pull off a tatoo...

Hey Rachelle... Weird, but when I saw you're from France, it made me think... I don't really remember very many European men having tattoos while I was stationed out there... Was I just not paying attention? (Possible) Or is it just a cultural thing?

they do, but usually not too much in the open... it's more of intimate thing I think....
Personally, I think bigger isn't always better when it comes to tattoo's...

I gotcha... I did know that about European women... Always found small tattoos on them usually no larger than a golfball...

God damn I miss you women lol

hm? I usually make sure to let a guy realize how lucky he is ;)

I'm sure you do... And THAT is why I miss the hell out of Europe... Now it's looking like I should have pulled a search mission in France once or twice ;)

If you need validation from strangers you deserve a misspelling. If you want a tattoo, get one. If you dont, then dont.

<Humor Alert: The following statement is offered in jest only, based on the earlier comments.>

Do you really want a dragon peeking out of your depends when your eighty?

On a personal level, man or woman, I think whether or not a tat is sexy depends on individual factors - the person, the tat, the placement, the quality of the work. I've seen a ton of dragons over the years and only two have ever impressed me. One was exquisite work on a 6'5" Marine of an oriental dragon that curled across his back, over his shoulder and down across his chest. The second was a smaller oriental dragon on a little blonde woman's ribcage - again, exquisite work.

Here's my 2 cents....

I have tattoos because "I" like them.... When the mood strikes I got them...

I have 1 I got in 1981' my second in 1984 my third in 2010 and I just got a chest piece completed yesterday and I have plans for two more ...

My age.... 56 ..... Yes they're tasteful no nude women, vulgarity and they're not racist ....

My wife likes them, and no her name or likeness isn't one of them though I did offer...
