Well being almost out of teens (I'm almost 20), I can speak for them I suppose. To most collars and leashes and whatnot are not BDSM-related at all. Actually, I asked someone (one of my friends) wearing a collar if she was into BDSM and she was completely baffled. So, no, the answer is most teens have no clue, or do not mean it as such.
