While I like validation as much as the next person, I think praise is a difficult topic.
As a kid and teen, if I got praise for something I thought was normal achievement, I would dismiss the person praising me as an idiot.
I mellowed with age and I get that people do that sometimes to be nice, but still think it can be a bit awkward.
A bit like when your four year old praises you for being able to do normal grown up stuff, but coming from an adult, you know?
I guess you can have fun with that in a slightly humiliating way, but generally I prefer praise for exceptional effort or achievement, from someone who really understands it.
That's also how I like to use praise.
