The 2023 Geek Pride Story Event: Official Support Page

And yet, you're spending your precious minutes writing this and trawling AH. @seraph_nocturne will be disappointed at your lack of commitment to the cause...!

I've already forgiven them if they can't make the deadline--it'll be partially my fault, as well, because I spent a lot of time messing around and dragging them into my lit-roleplay schemes. Not only did we plot it in advance, we had weeks to get it finished.

I really feel like late submissions should still be allowed to rock, since it isn't a contest! But eh... small potatoes. We both got our independent works in on time, so the collaboration is just a bonus at this point.

@MediocreAuthor You'll just have to make it up to me with a smutty commission. 😏

I'll write whatever you want me to... The smuttiest smut that ever smutted a smut. So you need the commission done by 2042, right? I think I might be able to get it done my then... Maybe 2043...

So kids, we were going through your late Grandparent's business papers and apparently they took a commission to produce a story back in 2023... and... uh....

I did it! Thanks to Rustyoznail for editing. It's definitely better. It's amazing how much I missed.
What is the official time sone for Lit? Did I make it in time?
You're welcome, and it's whatever NY is, so you should be fine. Laurel probably expects an avalanche of last minute entries to competitions and events that she needs to approve.

I think you should be good! And… I believe it’s EST, but don’t quote me on that. 😂

DONE!

Final polish approved by my collaborator, story uploaded to Lit and now I can finally get horrendously drunk.

I need a fucking vacation.

"Red Tsonia & the Jungles of Madness"
Tagline: What use is brute strength if the mind is under siege?
Tags: Geek Pride, fantasy, sword and sorcery, mind control, tentacles, demons, adventure, action, furry.
Length: ~46,200 words

And the best thing? Despite it being the second Red Tsonia story Loqui and I have done, in true Howardian fashion the continuity is pretty vague. Could happen before or after "... Witch in the Dark", so the "no chapter" rule of Geek Pride Day is still honored.

Edit: Just to make sure - the intro post in this thread is off by a day, right? I was still on time? Today is truly the 24th and we have until 23:59 EDT to upload? *cue panic attack*

This event has inspired some very long stories. Horrendously drunk? Do are you please, but it's only a Lit event, not VJ day.

Now that I've come to terms with the fact that I'm a failure, and I let @seraph_nocturne down, at least I can be excited about the event.

Hopefully "Libidine Ex Machina" will be released shortly after the event. I think it'll be well received regardless.

Stoooop ittttt, it's fine! We've got other submissions in, no harm, no foul--and I think it'll have a great reception even though we didn't make the deadline. TBH... I really feel that late submissions should be allowed to rock for Events, as opposed to contests, since it's just for fun.

46k is slightly above average for me. My longest was 104k, also for Geek Pride.

Yeah, horrendously drunk. The last week and a half was brutal crunch time. I'm not good with deadlines at the best of times, now add my depression into the mix. Not fun. :)

I'd say that writing eases or whatever you'd call it, my bouts of depression. Maybe even "cures" it for a while. As for deadlines, if there is no money or something else truly at stake, I just care less about them.

I agree it will be popular regardless. It just would have been cool if I'd finished in time. Bleh 😅

Just to check in, since this has been an issue in the past -- is the Geek Pride page going to be linked on Literotica's main page tomorrow? There have been times when that didn't happen at first and someone had to jog the admins' elbows to make that happen.

I asked a similar question days ago, and no one one has answered.

On the Job NEVER got posted to the front page.

That seemed really unfair to me, considering Surfing With the Alien DID get posted to the front page, and that was an invitational with WAY less entries (mind you part of that is probably jealousy because I wasn't one of the invited authors :ROFLMAO: ).

Unfortunately, none of us here know for sure if it'll be on the front page straight up.

If it's missing, I'm sure Chloe will remind Laurel.

Another n00b question: If a story is "pending" for a while, is that a bad sign? I submitted on 5/20 and it's still pending. (This is my first submission and I know someone earlier said to expect that that would take longer. But now I'm antsy because the hour approacheth.)

🤔 So I drove you to drink, eh? Hope you recover from that hangover quick. It sounds like there will be a ton of great GPD stories to read tomorrow. I can't wait to get started.

For a story, that's not great, but for your first story it probably isn't horrible. Wait for the 25th.

If it doesn't post then, or end up on the Geek Pride list, then send a PM to Laurel. I've had stories get left off of the Event story lists, but then get added later because I messaged her

That is reasonable, but I doubt that the site will listen to any suggestions. Have they ever done so before?

The way I understand it, all of them will be pending until tomorrow. You don't have to call yourself a "noob," just ask the question. ;)

Stories are live!
Congratulations to all 29 authors. Though I seem to be credited as AUTHOR rather than KQ - not necessarily a bad thing given the quality of some jokes in it...

So much for a short piece - it's done the annoying thing of spilling over a short bit onto a final 4th page.
