A friend cultivated an amazing backyard wildflower garden for over a decade. Life happened and she had to sell and move. She had a week-long open house for all her friends and neighbors... anyone that wanted a plant or cutting or seeds. She took what she could with her, but had to practically start over.

I realize coffee aficionado's disagree, but I love percolated coffee. Perhaps my belief that it's top shelf comes from my introduction to coffee. I started when I was 6 at my grandparents' place. Grandma had a percolator pot much like this one. When I went away to college, I asked my mom for one thing: my grandmother's percolator coffee pot.

The only reason I'm not still using it today is the cord did not age well. It would get blistering hot to the touch. Sadly, I was unable to find a replacement. Best damn coffee pot I ever had!!

My travel experience is not current, but I had the same experience everywhere I visited. Learn enough in their language to say, "Sorry, I don't speak <language>. Do you speak English? I need some help, please." It sometimes took 2 or 3 tries but I had a 100% success rate.
(Didn't hurt that I was young, skinny and traveling with two drop-dead gorgeous girlfriends at the time 😏 )
