The AH Coffee Shop and Reading Room 09

Except for a ligament stinging from time to time, my knee is getting better. I am getting around better and feel like I've been let out of prison.

For those who are having problems getting their writing done, I'll pass along the information that got me through my crisis - Just Do It! Even if it is just one sentence or one paragraph, just write it down. Eventually they add up to a story.

To help you, I've got a pot of really strong coffee going. And don't forget the new cappuccino machine is feeling lonely since hardly anyone is using it. The teapot is hot so you can make tea if you're not a coffee drinker. There are donuts on the counter along with some brownies.

I'll be over in the corner fanning myself off as the hot sex scene I'm writing has me getting hot myself as I write it. So be careful coming over to say "Hi". You may get more that that in return ...

Glad to hear that the procedure worked for you, @Candy_Kane54.

My output yesterday was a few revisions and a new paragraph. I was tired when I wrote the paragraph, so it probably won't survive a reread.

Candy, I wander through when no one else is around and make a large mug, then clean things up. It's a time zone thing.

A place I used to work had a machine with a milk jug attached. Problem was, nobody ever cleaned it, and I'm sure they just topped up the milk. It was disgusting, and I vow never to let the happy cappy go the same way.

Made a particularly virulent batch of Garlic Salsa last night and threw in an extra handful of De Arbol Chiles, just for fun. Used in my quesadilla last night, my mouth tingled for 20 minutes after. I may have reached a boundary.

I used to make a red sauce that was similar to the Garlic Salsa. I used ripe, home-grown tomatoes, and the result was a little sweet. That changed the flavor of everything we used red chile sauce for, and not all the changes were great.

I could do with some of that garlic salsa. I'm running on the ragged edge of at least a cold, and a serious dose of that would help burn it up.

Nothing like garlic for a cold. I eat garlic stuffed olives when I have a cold. It works. I don't know why, but it works.

Well... I just wrote the creepiest thing ever in any of my sex scenes. No surprise. It's been planned, but having it on "paper" gave it more impact than I expected. At least to me. I can't be sure that the readers will get it.

On that note, I'll take a break.

It's a beautiful sunny morning here with the storms not expected until this evening. It's warm and muggy at the moment before getting hot and muggy before the storms roll in. Before that happens, my knee feels good enough that I'm going to try to get some weeding done.

I've got a fresh pot of coffee going and the teapot is hot. There are chocolate chunk cookies and donuts on the counter so help yourself and stay for a while if you can.

I'll be over in the corner getting hot and sweaty completing the sex scene I'm writing. Hopefully I'll come, I mean finish, uh, nevermind ....

Went out last night with my cousins from Juarez... I really don't remember much of what happened but Cisco said we had fun.

Good luck. I spent most of the past week on my knees with the hot tub project. Both electrical and plumbing had me up and down since the connections and runs were all close to the floor, "Damn. I gotta get another tool." Stuff like that.

I first read that as "wedding" and not "weeding". Wedding on the mind, I guess. C's guy friend postponed a date to christen the hot tub 'cause he had to attend a nephew's wedding this weekend, plus other travel.

It's the middle of May. The cooler is set up. The furnace has run at least once on both of the last two mornings. Is there something wrong here? We should be well into early summer.

I started my last heavy gardening job. It's a two-day job that I hope doesn't get extended to three, but the days are getting warm. We'll see if I can hold up in it.

Way down here on the Okefenokee we just got our first day in the 90s yesterday and I am still wondering why I bought a black truck. Not wise at all. But summer seems to be rolling in a bit late this year... Then again, we did have a very long North Florida winter, including snow. That was the first time it happened here in over a decade.

We're supposed to make it close to 90F late next week. Until then low 80sF will prevail.

I hit my mark on the garden work. My back is sore and tired, but I hope to finish the job tomorrow before it gets warm.

The WIP is waiting patiently.

I lost the map... to getting here. I put it in the doctor's folder, but it's now somehow missing. I should have just followed the pastry crumbs and the aroma of freshly brewed coffee from the highway. :giggle:

There is a huge gap in my reading of your posts. I apologize for that, and I promise to catch up soon. My BP machine keeps hovering around 98-101/60—Light-headedness with that.

My latest story was posted on the 15th, a sci-fi theme on time travel. 'Mobius Asendant.' I appreciate the positive reviews (all four) and the 4.7 score so far, based on 14 reader votes. They liked my humor and snark.

Great to see you back, DM. Watch your step near the counter. CK installed a cappuccino machine while you were away, and I'm not sure all the boxes and packing materials were shoved out of the way completely picked-up. ;)

I took them down to the basement, and HP's dragon disposed of them.

Good to see you back, DM, but I'm worried about HP.

@Rustyoznail - thanks for helping me with that, I've been neglecting HP's dragon with my knee issues preventing me from getting up and down the stairs.

@dmallord - glad to see you back. Sorry about the pastry crumbs. Check with Rusty if you don't know how to use the new cappuccino machine.

There's a fresh pot of coffee brewing and the teapot is hot. There are fresh pastries on the counter to go with the coffee/tea.

I'll be over in the corner wrapping up the sex scene. Then I'll experience the joy of editing before I can start on my next story. I can't believe it took me six months to get this far. When I began here five years ago, I wrote and published twelve stories in that same span. I'll probably never achieve that output again ...

We have electricity again. It went out Thursday evening during the storms we had. Several tornadoes hit less than two hours from me. Trees and power lines are still down here. Today is cold (50 degrees) and breezy. During the storm days it was 85.

ETA: Our small village/town has more damage than I thought. Roofs are off and roads are still closed. I went to the local grocery store with a neighbor and it was packed. It's the same story from whoever you talk to: they lost everything in the refrigerator and freezer. I can relate.

Your utilities seem pretty undependable. First it was the gas, and now the electricity. How's the water supply?

I finished the large raised bed. It needs a lot of water, but aside from that I'm ready to start the only crops I sow directly: sweet corn, cantaloupe, and Armenian cucumbers. I started tomatoes, jalapenos, New Mexico chiles, and bell peppers in nursery pots. I've planted gladiolas every week since the first weekend of April. I have enough to plant this weekend and next, and they're done. The garlic (planted in Nov. or Dec.) acts like it might come in early.

I'm almost hydrated. I'm gonna kick a cat off my bed and take a nap.
