I think that this sort of warning is thrown out on a 'shotgun' basis. In one sense, it's good to warn people, but IRL, cross-contamination is always theoretically possible, so companies are putting such warnings on everything they sell, which means that somebody with serious allergies has entire aisles in the supermarket red-flagged for no real reason.Warnings: May contain NUTS, ALMONDS, HAZELNUTS and WHEAT
I remember being a child at my grandfather's cottage. The local drug store sold slab chocolate, by which I mean a one big slab maybe 18" x 24", sitting out in the open on a tray. One took a knife they kept there, carved off a chunk and they weighed it on the spot. They'd be padlocked now for half-a-dozen reasons, but I haven't tasted such good chocolate in decades. Sigh - nostalgia just ain't what it used to be!
