The auld Library.

Excellent.

-conjures a cup of tea-

Then you know how difficult it can be.
I'm really trying to do it right this time, having lots of material, meticulously researching and self editing and I will definitely hold out for a volunteer editor this time.
Thousands of views, no likes.
Never again.

hmm... I do and I dont. i have an odd taste in writing and I write for the thrill of it. So. I don't think much on wether or not I have likes. Not to say I dont have an ego as I'm still tickled when I have feedback. I just dont expect it.

Thanks, here's an example of a message I send to my friends.

I hand him a piece of paper.

Dear (Name),

I invite you to the Island Lost.
The reason I'm sending out invitations is because people seem to think that they need my permission to set foot on the Island, even though it states that all are welcome.
Anyways, I want people to enjoy in all that the Island has to offer.
Due to your friendship and kindness, I give you access to the (places.)

Sincerely,

Avellan.

The part that says, I give you access to, is for the places within the Island that are private.

Not that I write for the fans.
Just the fact I had thousands of views with no feedback kind of did the opposite of what that ego-tickling must feel like.

"Fine."

I step out from behind a bookcase and into plain view.

"As for one place being better than another, the only things that really make them different are the owners and the type. Private or public. Both have their uses, but otherwise their uniqueness is simply who it belongs to. I feel like I'm rambling again though. Erlind, pleased to make your acquaintance."

James.
Very nice to meet you.
I created this place more out of frustration than anything.
Out of all the places I visited I never really felt welcome.
And the stab at invite only threads, well it kind of sucks being rejected from a place instantly doesn't it?
Such things are a button of mine and I do tend to react badly at times.

Ramble all you want here, it's really ok, you're more than welcome to ramble, more words equals more words to respond to.

Needing to escape from the loud, bright, hustle and bustle of the street she see's a place that looks comforting, peaceful and interesting. Pushing open the big door, glancing this way and that, taking in the long rows of books and the scent of paper and ink and perhaps some tea brewing she was already smiling. Stepping inside, waving and giving a soft smile to those gathered, easing her way down the aisle, fingertips brushing over the spines of books both old and new. The cool air and comforting atmosphere instantly eased the worries of the day away. Somehow, books always had that effect on her.

"Well hello there!" Comes a voice from behind you.
"Libraries are a comforting place aren't they? When I was a child I used to visit a library that used to be a train station, oh it was so interesting..." Realising he was rambling he coughed, straightened his suit and started again.

"Welcome to the Auld Library, I'm James, we have everything that is good here, if you'd like some tea I'm an accomplished alchemist I can brew you something you'll like, please, sit down, read a book, strike up a conversation with some of our other patrons, whatever you do just have a good time!" He smiled.

She jumped. startled from the greeting from behind, instantly smiling and laughing.

"Hello James. Nice place you have here. I'll take a cup of tea with mint and honey if you have it."

Her eye's traveled over his nice suit and then over her own attire, a simple pair of cut off jean shorts and black tank top, typical summer wardrobe for her in these hot months, but she suddenly felt under dressed and tugged the edge of her shirt, smoothing it over the curve of her hips.

"I just seen the place from the street and dropped in..."

He chuckled lightly as the young lady grimaced looking at her clothes.
"You need not worry about being under-dressed, this is a place where you can feel comfortable no matter what."

He clapped his hands and in an instant a cup appeared in front of the young lady, a nice minty smell wafted from it.

My eye's widen when the cup just appears, fresh mint tickling my nose as I cradle my hands around the cup looking up at him.

"I've never met an alchemist. Tricks like that come in handy, nice way to impress the ladies."

I give him a wink and begin wandering down the aisle again, searching for something to keep my attention this evening.

"Any recommendation's?" I ask, pointing towards the shelves.

"Well, although Alchemy and Conjuration aren't the same thing (As according to FullMetalAlchemist) The rules are the same "You only get out what you put in." Sometimes even less.
If you do something simply to impress you might find someone less than impressed, to make up for the good impression you, in essence, stole."

"AHEM!"

He coughed again as he found himself rambling, he always did this in front of pretty young ladies.

"Recommendations, yes, something young, something edgy, something sexy yes? Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson should do the trick."

She couldn't help but smile at him, rambling on until he realized what he was doing then quickly recovered and offered a suggestion.

"Edgy and sexy, hmmm... I think that sounds perfect. I'll take it!"

Tucking her long length of hair behind her ear she walked up him, stopping and smiling up at him again. "

So what's your library's procedure.. on checking out.. books.. James?"

She realized she was sort of flirting with a complete stranger but he was cute and kind of nerdy and she'd always been into smart guys so she just went with it, gauging his reaction's.

"We-heh-ell..." James stammered loosening his tie.
"The procedure... check out what you like and ask nicely I might just let you take what you like home with you" He managed to say, finally pulling himself out of the stutter.

When he reached to loosen his tie and stuttered a little bit, she took a sip of her tea and sat it on the counter, letting her eyes drift to his loosened tie, along the line of his neck where his pulse beat rapidly. He seemed tall, of course most seemed tall to her barely over 5' foot frame, but she very nearly reached up to touch that pulsing point but thought better of it and instead, cleared her throat and took the book from his hand. Her fingers brushing over his.

"This does seem like it could be an interesting book... I guess it wouldn't hurt to ask you nicely to let me take it home with me." She grinned and bit her bottom lip a bit to keep from giggling.

He let his touch linger.
"I'm sure I can let this one go for a while, just don't take too long with it, I'd hate to not see you in here again."

His touch sent a little shock through her and she nodded, lowering her eyes, feeling a blush crawl up her cheeks and digging in her back pocket for a few bills to toss on the counter to pay for her tea.

"I'm sure I'll be around soon. It was very nice to meet you James."

Surprised at the gorgeous young lady's sudden departure James raised a hand.
"Uh-um... bye." He sighed.
He then put his hands in his pockets and looked at the ground.

Seeing his demeanor change, withdrawing and looking down she couldn't help but feel her heart warm. He really was cute when he did that. Not wanting his other guests to hear she stood on tip toes and whispered in his ear.

"I promise I'll be back. I'd like to... maybe get to know you a little better..."

Turning her face just enough that her nose nudged along his jaw, she breathed in his scent, god there was nothing better than a good smelling man. She stepped back and smiled at him before turning and easing out the doorway back into the bright sunlight.

-awakens from his sleep to tend to his library again, feather duster in hand, determined to get the place clean-

-sings loudly hoping no one can hear him-

"Fellas, to impress a chick, helicopter dick, helicopter dick, that's right, to impress a chick do the helicopter dick!"

Well, my Friday evening looks like it's going to be a riveting affair!

-He says to no one in particular, with bitter sarcasm-
