The China Pearl Inn part 7

Oh I know that feel. I hate getting up to get snacks. That's why I like to keep some at my desk all the time hahah.

I'm not starting again until the 16th of April. Looong wait, but I can spend the weekdays at school in the meantime, at least.

A month is a long time off work. But having time for school is good. :)

I assume, Uggg, that if you are yelling, your hangover is better. :D

I still get paid either way, but school is much less money.

Ah well, any money is better than no money.

I better get myself into bed before I stay up all night. Take care :rose:

Good evening everyone.

I've had a great day.

I hope everyone is as happy as I am today. :D

LIZARD SIGHTING!!!

For those of you that don't know, I get a lizard showing up in my house every now and then. Usually, eventually, I can catch it and put it outside. Then, somehow, one shows up in the house again. The last time I saw a lizard was mid-November. I didn't know if it had found a way out, was hibernating under the bed, or was dead under the bed. This is the longest period of time without a sighting so I was pretty much resigned to the fact that there was a dead lizard under the bed. But this afternoon I caught a sight of it out from under the bed. Not where I could get to it though. I am on a walker and the lizards are pretty quick.

I don't really spend much time thinking about the lizard, but the girls have named this one Lenny. :D

LOL SF, I have literally hundreds of lizards in my house. I'm not exaggerating. There are hundreds. mostly geckos but also lots of coppery little skinks. Sometimes I find their eggs in odd places too (like the bathroom cabinet for example). One lizard sited since Nov- Pffft- lol. If I turned the light on now there would be twenty on the wall across from me hunting flying insects.

They are great for keeping the flying ants and mosquitoes under control but their poo is the reason I have to mop the floor every weekend and sometimes you accidentally squish one in a door or draw. That's always gross. My cat loves hunting them, it's always fun watching him swat at the louver windows with the lizards safe on the other side.:D

how that happen?

When I moved in, there were two that hung out and played together outside. They ran up and down the walls and across the screens. The lizards around here hibernate during the winter. Personally, I think they would be warmer under a rock than on my floor. My floor gets COLD, even with insulation under it. I find it interesting that the birds don't seem to eat them. I have no idea how one gets inside. As far as I can guess, the lady that comes to help with housekeeping sets her tubs down outside and inside. I don't know.

I don't think I would like lizards all over the place. I like them outside. :) They don't seem to eat the spiders as far as I can tell. Maybe they do and there are just too many spiders for one lizard to eat. Who knows?

I live in the tropics. They thrive here.

They are even in the car. Its really funny to take off with one on the windscreen and see how long they can hold on for. lol.

What type? If they aren't eating your spiders I wonder what they eat. There are some big fat ones here that live near where I feed the cat. I think they steel his biscuits. High risk high reward game, that one.;) he loves fat little lizard snacks.

I don't know. They aren't geckos or blue tailed or gila or alligator. Those are the lizards I know. These are smaller than alligators. I have no idea what they eat. There are all kinds of bugs and spiders outside. Inside I find spiders, less in the winter. Once spring comes then there were be crickets and cicadas and all sorts of other things that crawl, fly and jump. My favorite part of winter is the lack of bugs.

Even if I could handle the humidity, I could never live with the bugs in the tropics. Having things crawling around my house while I try to sleep? Um.. NO! Without my glasses, I am almost blind. I hate when I see movement without my glasses on.

Yea it is pretty much a constant war against bugs here. We have screens all the way round our house but we still have to use insect bombs regularly and we go through a can of bug spray every few weeks as well. On work days we don't bother but on weekends we also use mosquito coils and outside I sprinkle ant sand and inside we use poison ant bait. Despite all that the bugs are still winning the war.

At least there is nothing properly poisonous here. There are a few nasty stingers and biters but nothing life threatening. (on land anyway- there is plenty that's deadly poisonous in the lagoon.)

Wow that weekend went quick! I sorted the little family problem for now and then strengthened Anglo/American relations. Glad I was with Steve, yesterday was Mother’s Day in the UK, always a bad day for me.

Arrived back at base about an hour ago to find Sal exhausted on the settee, she’s done her bit too :cattail:

Got a lecture this afternoon which gives me time to get some sleep. Glad Lenny is ok and that he’s settled.

Have there been any sightings of CG? I see the CO posted a coded message with his permission so he must be around. If you’re reading this CG, we love you and miss you

Hi Robyn,

Glad to hear your weekend went well. Ya mine flew by as well.

Haven't seen CG ina few days but he never stays away long. He will probably be back tomorrow.

It is amazing how many creepy crawlies can get through screens. I have screens on both my front and back porch and the bugs still get in. Have you tried putting dishes of cinnamon near entry areas? I have heard that works.

Glad you had a good time yesterday. Mother's Day and Father's Day are both wasted on me, so I know what you mean about them being depressing. I am glad you have a little time to rest before being back in class. Sounds like Sal had a good time also. Don't see CG often, but he pops in now and then. I don't expect to see much of him while there is snow on the ground.

Light_Shiva says hi to everyone:rose:,
