Enjoyed a great ‘girlie’ night with my civilian friends last night. My ex was there and I was determined to show him what he’s lost.

Great to hear directly from the NRR operatives. Ma’m please be assured of our love and prayers.

Spending tonight and tomorrow at home. My little 3 year old nephew is coming tomorrow, going to spoil him rotten.

Goodnight CPI, goodnight CG I grab a sprig of mistletoe and give him a soft warm kiss. ‘Sleep well Sailor’

That's how to do it. Spoil them rotten, then send them home.

Slip in to the ol inn change out the candle in the window for a fresh one and light it. Hang mistletoe all over the place. Including an old propeller cap with a sprig on each blade for Uggg.
Starts up the hot beverages. Hops up to one of the rafters.

So 2 drunks dare each other to break in to our base. Don’t they know we patrol with guns loaded with live rounds? Don’t they know that if we feel there is a threat to our base we will shoot to kill? These two can count themselves lucky they were arrested by ‘Powergirl’and me and not one of the guys. We handed them over to the civilian police and they’ll sober them up. Meanwhile Ellie (‘Powergirl ‘) and I have to complete a 25 page report!

It's was a thing for me for a number of years, The candle.
But I was the one trying to find my way home.
It is the least I can do.

That single candle in the window has many meanings, from remembering those far from home, a guiding light, and to welcome a light into our heart and soul. Raven it is a tradition I have kept for many years. A light for mine, a light for friends and a light for those that feel they are alone.

I know that candle in the window was all that kept me going. Just knowing it was there was enough.

I slip in to the inn a little before time for Santa's ride, with a sack of my own. Stocking for all of the patrons near and far these go up first, to the sound of Bing Crosby. They are filled with fruit, nuts, candy, small puzzles, and small toys. The tree goes up next. Not a fake one or one that's been cut down but, a whole live groomed and trimmed tree in a 20 gallon pot. Garland, icesycle ornaments, old bubble lights, 5lbs of candy canes in every flavor they make, and an Angel at the top dressed in a white and frost blue gossamer gown. Under the tree goes piles of gifts most of them wrapped few of them with names on the tags. New slippers all around. meerschaum pipes display exquisite carvings, simple looking Hand forged combat and hunting knives, quills and ink in a riot of colors shapes and cuts, teas and chocolates from around the world, jade sculptures for luck, even a 2 meter tall panda in one corner complete in historically accurate Samurai armor complete with singed hand forged Disho.

Next the rafters are adorned with garland and lights, draped with fancy glass and hand-blown ornaments. Colored wax dripping candles all on brass holders with large catch plates at the bottom. Holly and ivy placed tastefully between the windows, while listening to Elvis having a blue Christmas. A hand spun addition to the lounging section of the main room is Sheared, died, spun, and woven all by hand a massive 12 by 20 alpaca and lama wool rug. "There that should keep some toes warm. Compliments of my crazy friends on this side of the looking glass."

Next the bar this one is "simple" every flavor and color schnapps and brandy I can find form all of my brewer and vintner friends(most of them pryor service all of them good at their craft). And a star of David (the old kind with a small candle at each point) hung over the mirror.


Into the kitchen stoves heated..... returning[what I have to keep some secrets] with arms load after arm load of sweets and pantries from Apple Strudel to Zeppole and back. All kept hot and fresh on the warming tables. Cookies with dozens of flavors piled on each end table and coffee table. A complete tea service two coffee urns and an eesspreso maker all on tables linking the entryway. Taking extra care to make sure all the cups are strategically places under the mistletoe hug from the rafters.

My work done in place a single black boot near the fireplace before curling up for a long winters nap to the sounds of Good King Wenceslas.

Winks and blows kiss back O we’re trained to be ruthless because it takes a split second to detonate an IED (ask CH, he knows what I mean). If either of us had the slightest concern we or our base were in danger we’d have opened fire, aiming for instant death.

Watched it tonight to set me up for guard duty. I love SciFi and I love the whole Doctor Who concept. CG you’re right, it’s about time. And Ins_spacetime, it was a great special.

I watched it on Christmas night with my family CG. You’re in for a treat - it’s a very good finale to the Cappeldi Year’s and an introduction to a woman doctor.

Returning to base tomorrow, so grateful to Robyn for filling in for me. We’re both off New Year’s Eve so we’re going London to watch the fireworks then we party through the night.

Sounds like everyone had a good Christmas including our loved ones over "there" no bad news, is good news. And they are together. Sometime that's all you have and you make it enough. So for those of you in the shadows thank you, be safe, do what you got to do to get eachother home. The home fires are burning and I have a fresh candle in the window for you to find your way.
For those of you heading to parties for the New Year celebrations please be safe. The ol inn will be warm and waiting when you get back.
As for me and mine we are going about 45 minutes north for a late family Christmas this Saturday and my plan is to snuggle my wife and children for New Year's. My year may not have been financially as fruitful as I would have hoped but I am so very blessed with friends and family that I have lacked for nothing. I pray that this next year's is just as good if not a little better for all of you.
