The Chinal Pearl Inn part 8

He had settled in, but he could still sense her turmoil. He could not deny it was gnawing at him, but he did his best to block it out. A deep breath in, then out. Eyes closed for a moment as he played a song in his head to mentally reset his spirit back to a neutral state.

Time passed and their eyes met. He offered only the faintest hint of a smile. It was warmth and encouragement, not a happy smile; the smile of one friend supporting another.

He was in casual dress today. A pair of well-worn jeans, a black faded T-shirt with a faded logo from too many washes of a woman and streaks of orange. It was hard to make out the rest of the shapes, but the words on the shirt were still visible. 'As I Lay Dying" Obviously a band that he favored.

When she stood up and made her way toward him he just watched her with a piercing stare that seemed to take in everything. As she neared the armrest he already had made room. Reaching out to wrap his arms warmly around her. One arm around her frame warmly stroking her back, the other softly stroking her hair.

After what felt like eons, trapped inside her mind, she slowly loosened the grasp she had on FD. Her eyes gently opened and she took in a deep breath; whatever was happening inside her was passing.

“Sorry,” she sniffled, forcing a smile. “And thank you.”

She tentatively reached up to hold the sides of his temples, placing a soft kiss on his forehead. Confused as to what may have just transpired with her action, she scooted off the edge of the armrest, standing awkwardly with one arm hanging down by her side, and the other clasped tightly around her own elbow. She nervously scuffed the ball of her foot against the floor beneath her; her teeth pulled at the bottom of her lip.

He watched BT, obviously in distress. He watched her move to FD and smiled. She was in good hands, then.

Rising the elf moved over to them with light feet, one hand lifting to make small circles on BT's back. "It can be so overwhelming sometimes," he says softly, "I hope that you feel better soon sweetling."

She looked up at Glad, next, and bowed her head politely.

“And thank you as well,” her voice was small, and she quickly averted her eyes to the floor where her foot continued to mindlessly draw circles beneath itself.

“I hope that doesn’t happen again,” she whispered.

If t does, your friends will be here, no judgment. I lose my way too sometimes. No shame here, this is a safe space," he says softly.

stepping away to the bar he returns with a mug of coffee for her, from the pot that is ever ready on the bar. He hold dsi out to her, "For you, it seems to help you." he smiled.

The gesture seemed genuine to her, as did his words. As she watched him pour her a cup of coffee and bring it to her a small smile came over her face, fighting with the woe that still lingered in her eyes.

“Thank you,” she said again, though it was loaded with a multitude of gratitude that spanned further than just a cup of coffee.

She peered down into the mug of coffee—black—she meandered back towards the bar to fix it to her liking: two sugars, a splash of cream. After stirring it, she took a sip and sauntered back to where she had been standing.

“So… what have I missed today while spamming the playground to get my post limit above 100?” distraction, that seemed like a safe path for the time being.

"You are more than welcome BT, for any and all of it." he watched her head to the bar, he smiled and noted how she liked her coffee, "I will not forget for next time," he said half to her and half to himself.

He was comfortable with distraction and took a seat beside her, "Well now I am still lost in music hell this changing computers process is gonna make me hate music," he teased, "I want to write but it's one of those days where writing may be difficult for me unless I had a reply to go from and although I owe a couple posts our idea is eating me Taurean wants to be written again." he laughed a little, "oops shouldn't have revealed our secret, it should be a surprise," he teased.

She took in his words and nodded.

“I hate technology, sometimes, it never seems to want to work unless you don’t need it to,” a soft giggle. “I’m sure your cowriters will be okay with another day or so of silence; sometimes muses are hard to find, or if they're easily accessible they like to make you chase after them..." she playfully nudged him with her elbow. “And... Jeeeeeze, Glad, why you gotta name drop like that?! It was supposed to be our little secret.”

She winked at him and sipped her coffee again, a warm, contented smile crept over her face. She wasn’t a connoisseur of the best brands out there, but this was damn good coffee.

He laughed, "It's ok, I don't think anyone here knows who he is, his sorry has been idle for over 5 months and I didn't have it linked." He nodded about technology, "Yep my computer just froze and stopped working... on my phone again, ugh."

I just went with the 128 GB SSD already installed, I needed it in a hurry and all my programs now fit on an 80GB hard drive so I think that will be ok. It has a 1 TB HDD in it also that will be good for my music.

He smiled at the gesture and watched as she rose.

"No need to apologize dear. We are all human. I just hope I was able to help."

He rose slowly and gently wrapped his arms around her again in a soft hug.

"I hope you are feeling better now"

Oh By the way FD, you mentioned your AILD T-Shirt. I'm in my Iron maiden T-Shirt, it has the killers cover on it.

Well I've had another super busy day at work but I think I coped with it better this time. At least I'm fairly sure I'm not going to get a leaky face today.

How are we all?

Sorry I never got a chance to write for you today Glad. I'll try tomorrow but work is chaos.

I'll be lurking if anyone wants me... I owe a couple of PMs.

Uggg:rose:

Glad to hear this day went a little better or at least your response to it was. But that is one huge stein of gin.

"Do you even know how many standard drinks are in that stein there, buddy?"
he gives him a nudge, "glad you coped with work better, no sweat about the writing I'll be here when you post." he winks.

My signature is becoming difficult to manage. I may need to simplify soon

Perhaps CFMB can show you how he does it. He has a link that leads to all his threads. Or, maybe you already know?
