Today us Brits join our American colleagues in remembering the thousands of US Service men & women who paid the ultimate sacrifice in the defence of freedom. Somehow ‘Thank You’ doesn’t seem enough. God bless them all.

Have any of you been to Omaha Cemetary (Opening scenes of SPR).

Been there five or six times on various BFS/Team Rides, and always a moving experience.

We Will Remember them.

We went last year after returning from Afghanistan. My Fiancé Tom, and GG’s husband laid wreaths while we stood with tears in our eyes.

Sad.

A good friend of mine and a former comrade in arms is married to a Japanese gal. One trip to Japan they visited both nuclear sites, before flying back to see the start of the Pacific war, leaving the Legion's wooden cross at all three locations. Quite moving.

Last year we were on parade in the Royal Albert Hall for the Festival Of Remembrance. When those poppies started falling I nearly lost it.

My Fiancé has just reminded me we have a plane to catch. Flying home to the UK today. Catch up soon guys. I expect we will observe the silence mid flight.

Small world, my Regt was there as well.

Safe Trip

Just remember you’re not alone. If you’re ever stuck pm one of us.

That means so much to me! Thank you *hugs tight and doesn't let go*

Promises, promises Shiva. :devil:ish :D

I don't think I've ever broken a promise to you, CG!

Rick and I are flying back to the UK tomorrow. Once we’re back in the States i’ll Punch up your pillows. Meanwhile your in our love.

Safe travels! And thanks for all you do! *huge hugs*

Pulls up a stool by the bar.

We swam in the sea in the afternoon then fishn chips (SF it was malt vinegar & trimmings). Got an aunt who lives near the coast & she gave us a room each, back to base tomorrow.

Going to do some gardening for aunt this morning, beach this afternoon then taking aunt to dinner tonight.

Swimming and noms!!! Maaaaaaan I wish I was there with you ladies!

What are you growing in your garden??

Water temp in the lagoon is about 28 degrees Celsius, much to warm for putting beers in.;)

Too warm for beers, Pinky, but only if you put them directly into the ocean. If you put the beers inside you first then they are just the right temperature!! :D :D *huggles*

*Ties a little bow around him and cuddles*

I'll take a cuppa too, please!!

Beautifully said!! Wonderful and you're right, there should be another phrase beyond Thank you for just such occasions!

A thought for Memorial day and for the fallen that have gone West.

DANCE WITH THE DEVIL
By cgraven

I dance with devil in the furtive jungles of Southeast Asia.
Along the river Mekong
I reeled and jigged to the howling tune of the blazing 50 cals.
I piped the tune
I danced with the devil

I danced with the devil in sweet smelling fields of South America
To stop the drug crazed waste of the world's youth
I piped the tune with fire and sword
I danced with the devil

I danced with the devil in the garden of Ala
To save the user barons oil
I piped the tune with lighting from the skies
I danced with the devil

I dance with the devil no more
My feet and sprit spent
No more will I pipe the tune
No more will I dance with the devil

The insane Master of the Dance calls for another set
With flame and fire
The piper is paid with the lives of the innocent
Must I dance with the devil again?

That was really beautiful, CG! It gives a lot to think about.

Thanks for your words and your service.

I am not a fan of fish, but fish and chips with malt vinegar? YUM. The best I ever had was at Lake Havasu, Arizona. Someone moved a bridge from England and rebuilt it across the Colorado River. There are a bunch of tourist places under the bridge based on England. One place serves fantastic fish and chips. How it compares to the real England I don't know. Maybe the next time you are at 29 Palms and have some time, you can drive over and do a comparison for me. :)

Well said. ::hugs::

Yes I’ve stood there. And I’ve been to the Memorial at Pearl Harbour. Very moving.

I didn't go to the Arizona, but I went to the Hawai'i Army Museum. Bawled my way through it. Reading letters written to and from soldiers and soldiers' families always gets to me. So many young people who never made it home.
