Yes, they were certainly a minority, but of course there were. Especially after the VCR came out and the internet got popular, the movie theaters needed to find ways to continue to attract customers, and one thing they would do is add a Couples Section, where only couples could sit. Many people would go just to watch the action in the couples section on a Friday or Saturday night.
