The Isolated Blurt Thread XXXVII: You're Welcome, Fuckers

thought I'd be outdoors doing lots today... got out there about 9, but the sun got so intense I was burning up by 10! Only about 10' left of the tomato row to dig out and lay the old hen hay into the trench so I'll either have to try this evening or early tomorrow if it's not pouring with rain.

However, I did get more stuff done: just about cleaned off the temporary compost pile... the chickens are having great fun rummaging where it was! I collected some of the compost from it, mixed it with some potting compost, and potted up those experimental tomato plants. I was supposed to have waited till they grew their second set of leaves but they didn't seem to be doing anything. Anyway, I potted up 46 baby plants and we'll see how many grow on and make it to the garden. Not planning on planting 46, though; that would be a bit much!

well that was a pleasant surprise: the guy whose grandparents lived in our house before H's family dropped by with (I think) his father-in-law for a visit. They lived here for about 60 years and now H's family's been here for about 62. A lot of history to this house. He's been once before but didn't come indoors then; this time they came in for coffee and a chat, a catch-up on history. Old photos came out, a showing of the arrow-heads found by H and his bro as kids, and they left laden with an assortment of jelly. Now if only I'd have known they were coming by I could have had the place a bit tidier but there ya go, the garden work eats into my household chores time. Is what it is :D

Pizza sauce?

I'm not very pretty but my skin looks really good for my age. Just smile lines.

Thank you, Dad for oily skin.
As always, Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and you’ve always looked fine to me. :)

about 2 thirds down the tomato row now, getting a bit more done each day compared to the day before. On a cooling off & watering break right now then I'll go back out and shovel the soil back into the trench.

The tomato sprouts are now 2 to 3" tall but it said to wait till they grow their second set of leaves before potting them on.

The pinto beans are just starting to sprout, too
How different is this from how you were living in the uk?

like chalk and cheese :)

back then, I was suburban/urban living, though my childhood was much more country. Even having grown stuff back there, it was nothing like the scale we plant here. The tomato row, which might have peppers in it, too, is about 50'60' long. I've got the last 10' to trench out tomorrow morning before the rain sets in for the week. It's a lot easier this year than it was when I first arrived: we've done a lot more work on enriching the soil and it's paying off.
