The King - The Widower (Closed)

She listened to how he was with her and felt happy, in that one kiss it was many months of her holding onto her love and making sure not to make a fool of herself. It was why there was so much emotion in her one kiss, the need but resistance she gave him as well.

Her restraint was her way of showing him she was in no rush, the time for them to be physical with each other would come in its time. It was then she had a grand idea tomorrow, looking into his eyes and brushing back a strand of his hair from his eyes she could not help but keep smiling.

"I am not sure what is on your schedule for tomorrow my lord but perhaps you would join me for a picnic? We can go where you took me this afternoon its the best for the view" When she said my lord there was a mix of respect, playfulness but also love.

"I will warn you however I will be the one preparing it. Some of my own mothers recipes she taught me before she died"

Her tone about her death wasn't sad but it was a happy memory she is sharing and wanted him to taste the memory like he was there the first time she tasted it, it was getting rather late.

"As much as I don't want this to end it is getting late and we both will need our rest" She was sad about leaving his company but she knew if he hadn't drank any of that potion he would need to, just for his body to adjust.

Then again he could have done it before the dinner she wasn't sure. She did not want to baby him but she wanted to protect him as much as he wanted to protect her.

Leon couldn’t help but smile at the way Belle spoke, her voice laced with love, playfulness, and respect. Her idea of a picnic tomorrow, in the very spot they had visited earlier, stirred something tender within him. The notion of sharing more time together, away from the castle’s prying eyes, felt like an escape from the weight of their world. Her offer to prepare the meal herself, using her mother’s recipes, touched him deeply. It was a glimpse into her past, and he understood the significance of that gesture.

“I would be honored to join you,” he replied, his tone soft and warm. “A picnic sounds perfect, and to taste something your mother once made—it would be like sharing a part of her memory with you. I can’t think of anything I’d enjoy more.”

As she brushed a strand of hair from his face, he marveled at how effortlessly she managed to make him feel seen and understood. The way she spoke about her mother, not with sorrow but with fondness, made him admire her even more. Belle had a quiet strength, a way of finding light even in her losses, and it was that light that had drawn him to her from the beginning.

Her mention of the late hour brought Leon back to the present, and though he, too, didn’t want the night to end, he knew she was right. Tomorrow would bring another opportunity to build on what they had started tonight.

He placed a soft kiss on her forehead, lingering there for a moment, as if to seal the evening with that quiet, unspoken promise between them. “You’re right,” he said softly, his voice steady but tender. “We both need our rest, and tomorrow will be another beautiful day to look forward to.”

Leon straightened, his hand gently resting on her shoulder as he looked into her eyes once more. “I’ll escort you to your chambers. As much as I would rather stay here with you, it’s important that we both take care of ourselves. You’ve given me so much tonight, Belle—your trust, your love, and even the promise of tomorrow. I want you to know how much I value that.”

As they slowly began to walk back, his hand resting lightly against the small of her back, Leon’s thoughts wandered to the future they were building. He knew they still had many obstacles ahead, but for tonight, he allowed himself the luxury of hope. Belle’s love gave him strength, just as his commitment to her gave her the courage to face whatever came next.

When they reached her door, he paused, his heart full yet calm. “Sleep well, my love,” he said softly. “Tomorrow will be ours to enjoy.” He gave her one last smile, the kind that spoke of a future filled with possibilities, before finally letting her go for the night.

Belle was beyond happy and couldn't help but smile at him. She was beyond happy at everything it was a wonderful night an as they walked to her chambers she wished they could spend more time, which was why she decided to suggest the picnic. She knew for once she was going to have a very good night, as they said their goodnights, she gave him the goodnight kiss and it felt so wonderful.

“Until tomorrow my love, I will have everything prepared at noon. You know it helps to know you so personally” she said softly. “Since I know what you like but you will need to preparer for tomorrow because everything, I am cooking I don’t know if you have had before, I haven’t seen you eat it. At least since I have been here, but I haven’t been here very long” She grinned happily.

“Also, I repeat this out of love nothing else but don’t forget to keep drinking your drink, if you drank it three times a day then drink it three times a day then after a week remove a cup, then another week the same. I am just so happy with us I don’t want anything to happen to you, because you are the only one that I want in my life”

“Have a good night my love” She finished speaking finally and kissed him again, it was amazing and finally she went into her room to start to prepare for tomorrow. She looked down at the mask in her hands and held it close to her chest and hung it up in her mirror, seeing her reflection she could not help but smile. Since they were going on a picnic, she would pick something to wear she had.

So, if she got dirty sitting down it wouldn’t be a big deal so she picked up everything she was going to wear and slept, she got up early like she always did and had spoken to the servants saying she had Prince Leon’s permission to do things differently and if they wanted to speak with him, they could, but there was no issue. Everyone loved Belle because she was such a gentle person and everyone and everything loved her.

She got up early and did all her chores and was done by ten in the morning, she went into the kitchen and started to cook somethings, she got a basket she was going to use and got everything she needed, over a course of two hours she had made Potted Meat, which she used duck because it was best for taste. She made home made bread which was nothing special. Since you always need some kind of vegetable she took some corn cut it right off the cob and packed it in a way like the potted meat that it wouldn't get cold.

She also made Jumble Cookies and lastly Syllabub She carefully packed up everything. She was humming the whole time and finally went upstairs to get ready since she had a good thirty minutes left before meeting by the horses. She got into her dress and grabbed her cap and had the basket in her hand getting the horses out of the barn.

Leon woke with a renewed sense of anticipation. The night before had been magical, and the thought of spending the day with Belle, away from the pressures of court and the castle, filled him with excitement. Her suggestion of a picnic was perfect—it would give them the quiet and intimacy they needed, a chance to deepen their connection in a setting free from judgmental eyes.

He dressed in light, simple riding clothes, more fitting for a casual outing than for his usual duties as prince. There was a calm in his chest he hadn’t felt in a long time. Belle’s presence in his life had given him not only love but a sense of peace, something he hadn’t realized he’d been missing.

As he prepared to meet her by the horses, her words from the night before echoed in his mind. She had been so gentle yet firm in reminding him to take care of himself, to drink the potion she had prescribed to aid his health. It was just like her, always looking out for him, always considering his well-being. He made a mental note to keep up with the regimen she had outlined—if not for his own sake, then for hers. She had a way of making him want to be better, to be stronger, for her.

Arriving at the stables just before noon, he spotted Belle already there, her basket carefully packed, and the horses saddled and ready. She looked radiant in her simple dress and cap, her face glowing with the same happiness he felt. There was something about the way she moved—graceful and purposeful—that made him feel like they were stepping into something new, something that was theirs alone.

“Belle,” he greeted her with a smile as he approached, unable to hide the warmth in his voice. “You’ve been busy, I see. I’m looking forward to tasting your mother’s recipes, especially since you’ve been so secretive about them.” He grinned playfully, his eyes lingering on her, admiring the way she always seemed to carry a piece of home with her, even in the grandness of the castle.

He took the basket from her hands and placed it carefully on the saddle of one of the horses, then turned back to her, offering his hand. “Shall we? I have a feeling this will be a day we’ll remember for a long time.”

As they mounted their horses and rode off, the sun was high, casting a golden hue over the landscape. The countryside surrounding the castle was breathtaking, the perfect backdrop for the moment they were about to share. Leon couldn’t help but feel that the simplicity of the day was what made it so special—there was no pretense, no courtly expectations, just the two of them and the open air.

When they reached the spot she had chosen, overlooking a serene valley, Leon dismounted and helped Belle down. The view was stunning, but his attention was entirely on her. “You always seem to know the perfect place,” he said softly, taking in the peaceful surroundings. “It’s beautiful.”

As they spread out the blanket and began to unpack the basket, Leon couldn’t help but feel a deep sense of contentment. He watched Belle with admiration as she carefully laid out the meal she had prepared, each dish holding a piece of her past, a part of her she was sharing with him. He reached out, gently touching her hand as she set the last item down.

“Thank you for this,” he said, his voice sincere. “Not just for the food, but for letting me see more of who you are. Your mother would be proud of you, Belle.”

They sat together, enjoying the meal and the peacefulness of the day, their conversation light and easy, but with the undercurrent of something deeper—an unspoken promise of what was to come. As they laughed and talked, Leon realized just how much he cherished moments like this, moments where he could simply be with her, away from the world and its demands.

As the afternoon stretched on, Leon felt that their bond had only strengthened. They had their whole lives ahead of them, but for now, this was enough—just the two of them, together, building a future one day at a time.

He was so beautiful himself he could be one of the most simplest people but have the most wonderful taste, it was an amazing to see this side of him. She saw a little of his kind side last night but this opened up so much more. Everything was so simple and she loved it, the view was perfect which was why she wanted to eat here. "You know why I wanted us to eat here today?" Belle said after breaking a minute of silence, she looked up into his face as he waited for what she had to say, Belle reached for his hand and squeezed it.

"Because here is when you started to let me see you as you, the man behind the title" She said with a soft look on her face, she loved her very much and knew all to well that this could lead to anything. "I will admit my mother wouldn't have liked you very much before, but since the beast of a man you were has been torn down by my own hands, words and kindness. The man you are now she would have loved and would have wanted to get to know. I told my father you have decided to court me, he was surprised but happy for me. Even my father has seen you go from beast to man"

Both Belle and Leon had a lot of loss in their life, Belle lost her mother when she was only ten years old, and Leon lost Juliet and turns out wasn't the love of his life, she was looking down curious as to what was going on in his head and then bit her lip. "I know you were married to Juliet and loved her but I never saw you this tender with her, I hope what I am about to say you wont mind but perhaps we are each others soul mates? And soul mates are always the strongest pair" She said looking up at him and a blush on her cheeks.

Leon listened intently, his gaze softening as Belle spoke. Her words held a depth of understanding that touched him in ways he hadn’t expected. She saw him—truly saw him—not just as the prince, but as a man who had been through his own trials, his own transformations. He felt the weight of her honesty, her insight, and it stirred something deep inside him.

When Belle mentioned her mother, his heart warmed. He could only imagine the woman she had been, and hearing that her mother might have once disapproved of him stung less than it should have. He knew who he had been before, and he was grateful beyond measure that Belle had been the one to help him shed that old skin. Her kindness had done what no amount of force or willpower could—she had softened him, shown him a new way to live, to love.

Taking her hand in his, Leon squeezed it gently, his thumb brushing over her knuckles as she spoke of her father. He was relieved to hear that her family supported their courtship, but the words that followed about soul mates struck him in a way that left him momentarily speechless.

Juliet had been a significant part of his past, a part of him he had long believed defined his ability to love. But Belle’s observation—that he had never been this tender, this open with Juliet—was true. Juliet had been someone he cared for deeply, but their relationship had always been layered with expectations and duties. With Belle, it was different. Everything felt raw, real, and unburdened by the weight of the past.

Leon’s heart swelled as he looked at Belle, her face slightly flushed from her bold admission about soul mates. Could she be right? Could they truly be destined for one another? The thought filled him with hope and a profound sense of belonging.

He leaned closer, his voice low but filled with emotion. “Belle, I won’t lie to you—Juliet was a part of my life, but what I feel for you is unlike anything I’ve ever known. You’ve shown me a love that’s pure, without pretense or expectation. I believe in soul mates, and if anyone in this world could be mine, it’s you.”

His words hung in the air, a promise and a confession all at once. He reached up to gently cup her cheek, his thumb brushing lightly against her skin as he gazed into her eyes. “You’ve seen the worst of me and still brought out the best. I never thought I could feel this way again, but with you, Belle… it’s like everything in my life has been leading to this moment.”

He paused, letting the gravity of his words settle between them. The bond they shared wasn’t just based on the here and now—it was something deeper, something that had been growing quietly beneath the surface since the day they met.

“As for what comes next,” Leon added with a soft smile, “I don’t want to rush anything, but I do know this: I want you in my life. Not just as someone I court, but as my partner, my equal, in every way. We’ve both lost people we’ve loved, but maybe… just maybe, we were meant to find each other.”

The wind rustled through the trees, carrying the faint scent of the meadow, and Leon felt a sense of peace wash over him. Whatever challenges lay ahead, he knew they could face them together. Belle had given him a reason to hope again, to dream of a future that wasn’t defined by loss but by love.

She was glad he didn't take what she said the wrong way because she said soul mates because honestly it feels that way. She had heard of many loves that can go in and out of your life, but a soul mate was different. She believed here was a soul mate for everyone, but rather you find your mate is a different matter. Belle was just so very glad that she found hers.

"I think I am the only one who will ever be true and honest with you, I would never lie to you, never lay with another man. Because a woman who cheats respectfully I will never understand that's not how I am wired. I know you trust me Leon otherwise we wouldn't be here. But I will never betray you or keep anything from you, but I want this courtship very much, I wanna help you get a better relationship with your people."

Placing her hand on his cheek looking into his eyes "I make this promise to you Leon, you will always have me. When the time comes I will happily marry you and when we are ready to start a family to give you an hire. I will give you things you have wanted but Juliet didn't. I will treat you due to your title when we are around others and will treat you like the man I see before me while we are together privately."

"For now I am happy with what we are doing now, we have many adventures to go on and I want to experience ever single one with you. I am glad you enjoyed the food, my mother taught me to cook when I was about four, I was always a very bright girl with a bright future but now with you I finally have found what I want in the world and it means everything" She leaned in giving him a soft kiss.

Leon’s heart swelled at Belle's words. Her sincerity was palpable, each promise woven with a depth of love and loyalty he hadn’t thought possible. Her unwavering commitment touched him in ways few ever had. He had grown used to the complexities and entanglements of court life, where alliances were often more strategic than genuine. But with Belle, everything was different. She offered him not only her heart but also a vision of a future he hadn’t dared to dream of.

Her hand on his cheek felt like an anchor, grounding him in the present while her words pulled him forward into the future. Her promises were not just of love but of partnership—of a life shared not only in the grand gestures of royalty but also in the quiet moments between them. He gazed into her eyes, feeling the weight of what she was offering: a lifetime of trust, honesty, and unwavering devotion.

"Belle," he began softly, his voice low but full of emotion, "your words mean more to me than you could ever know. I’ve had many around me for most of my life, but I’ve never felt this kind of certainty, this kind of peace. What we have… it’s not just something fleeting. It’s a bond I intend to cherish and protect with everything I have."

He paused, running his fingers through her hair as he spoke. "You’ve given me a glimpse of a life I didn’t think was possible. Not just as a prince, but as a man who can be loved for who he is—not his title, not his power. I promise you, Belle, I will never take that for granted."

Her mention of marriage, of starting a family, stirred something deep within him. For so long, those ideas had felt distant, almost unattainable. But now, sitting here with Belle, hearing her speak with such conviction, he began to see that future take shape in his mind—one filled with love, laughter, and a shared purpose.

"I want all of that with you," he said, his voice filled with a quiet intensity. "The courtship, the marriage, the family… I want to build a life with you, Belle. A life that’s not dictated by the expectations of others, but by the love we have for each other. I want us to face the world together, side by side."

As she leaned in and kissed him softly, Leon felt the world melt away. It wasn’t a kiss of passion or urgency, but one of promise—of the future they were beginning to shape together. He pulled her closer, holding her as if to solidify the unspoken vows between them.

Breaking the kiss, he rested his forehead against hers, his voice a tender whisper. "You are my light, Belle. Whatever comes next, we’ll face it together. I promise you that."

For a moment, they sat in the stillness of the meadow, the world around them quiet and serene. The journey ahead would not be easy—there would be challenges, both within and beyond the walls of the kingdom—but Leon knew, without a doubt, that he had found his partner for life. Belle was more than his love; she was his equal, his confidante, and his future.

"We'll have many more of these adventures," Leon added, a smile forming on his lips. "But today, let's just enjoy this moment. It’s the first of many, and I want to remember every second of it."

As they sat there, hand in hand, under the open sky, Leon felt a sense of peace settle over him. For the first time in a long time, he wasn’t looking back at what had been lost or forward to what might be expected of him. He was simply here, with Belle, ready to face whatever the future held together.

Belle loved everything that was going on between them it was important and the more powerful their bond the easier what she needed to do later wouldn't take as much out of her. Looking up at him "There is on other thing I can share with you because you seem surprised as to why I am the way I am there is a lot of me that will take you to learn as I have a lot of learning to do with you since we have only known each other for a year and a half, some would say me being a virgin makes me simple and foolish. But I don't think so I think it has a lot to do with how you are groomed in life, I have heard stories about you when you were a boy and I actually believe them."

She wanted to prove it as well, she cleared her throat quietly and before she knew it a softy melody came from her lips " ♪ Follow me ♪♪ Into dreams ♪♪ Pretty dreams ♪♪ Endless dreams ♪♪ Take my hand ♪♪ Come away ♪♪ Find peace ♪♪ In my arms ♪♪ Beloved girl ♪♪ Go to sleep ♪♪ I will guard you from ♪♪ All harm ♪♪ Follow me ♪♪ Beside me ♪" Her voice was haunting but very beautiful and before she knew it a doe and her baby hears and follows the song, she sang the melody twice but the deer got closer. She slowly stood "Follow me Leon very slowly..."

Slowly standing up and the deer both actually laid down in front of them, such magnificent beasts Kneeling before them she bows her head showing her respect to nature to these animals "No harm will come to us, this is the Prince of the land" She looked behind her looking at him and smiled reaching out to him. "I was told you were good with animals as well, now that your mind and aura if you will isn't clouded by such hate I believe your ability will come back to you, just be slow and show the same love you have for me to them" She figured this would be something he could add to his wonderful memories.

Leon watched Belle in awe as the melody left her lips, soft and ethereal, as if woven from the very air itself. The moment she began singing, the world seemed to hold its breath. And then, as if drawn by the magic of her voice, the doe and her fawn appeared, their steps light, almost hesitant, but trusting. It was a sight both surreal and sacred, and for a moment, Leon could only stare, his heart swelling with a quiet reverence.

Belle’s voice was hauntingly beautiful, the song ancient and filled with a tenderness he hadn’t realized existed within her. The way she connected to nature, to the animals, was like nothing he had ever seen. It was as if she carried a wisdom, a grace, that transcended her young years. She knelt before the deer, showing them respect, as if in communion with a part of the world that was beyond him—yet, at the same time, it felt like a part of him too.

As she looked back at him, her smile warm and inviting, Leon felt a rush of emotion. He realized that Belle wasn’t just offering him her heart, she was revealing parts of herself that were deeper, more mystical. And as she knelt there, honoring the animals and beckoning him to join her, he understood—she was opening a door to a connection with the world that he had lost long ago.

Slowly, Leon stood, moving carefully so as not to startle the deer. He approached Belle, feeling the weight of her words. The anger and bitterness that had clouded his heart for years had faded, replaced by something softer, something more hopeful. Could it be that his connection to the world, to nature, was returning? He had been known for his skill with animals as a boy, before the years of duty and the pain of loss had hardened him. But now, as he knelt beside Belle, the doe and her fawn seemed to accept him just as they had accepted her.

He extended his hand, palm up, offering nothing but calmness, and as he did, the doe shifted slightly, leaning closer as if to acknowledge him. A small smile tugged at the corner of his lips. There was no magic in the air, not like Belle’s song, but there was peace—a peace he hadn’t felt in years.

Turning his head slightly, he looked at Belle, his eyes filled with gratitude. "You’ve brought something back to me," he said softly, his voice almost a whisper. "Something I thought I’d lost forever. It’s not just love, Belle, it’s this—this connection to the world, to the land, to life itself. I feel like I’m seeing the world again, through new eyes, and it’s because of you."

Her hand reached for his, and he took it, entwining their fingers together. It felt natural, as if they had always been meant to walk this path side by side.

"I didn’t know you had such a gift," Leon continued, glancing back at the deer, still amazed by their presence. "But I’m not surprised. You have a way of seeing beauty in the world, in people, that others don’t. It’s what drew me to you in the first place."

He paused, his gaze turning back to her, full of wonder. "I’ll follow you, Belle. Wherever this leads. You’ve opened my heart, and now I want to see everything the way you do—with love, with respect, with peace."

For a long moment, they stayed there in the quiet presence of the deer, the weight of the world lifting from Leon’s shoulders. He realized then that this was more than just a relationship—it was a transformation. Belle wasn’t just changing his heart, she was changing his very soul. Together, they would not only rule a kingdom but rebuild it, with the love and respect they shared for each other—and for the world around them.

With a gentle squeeze of her hand, he smiled, the weight of their journey ahead no longer feeling like a burden but a shared adventure. "Let’s make this our kingdom," he said softly. "One built on the strength of what we are, together."

She had been told by her mother long ago if she was to ever brand anyone with the healers brand to be sure hey were worthy of it because her power could be his own if she taught him, but she was so grateful she knew what she did and still learning. She could see how scared he was and she motioned for him to come to her that it was okay and she was glad She nodded and was grateful that was what he wanted "Good" She said softly. "When I was a child a Native American came to me saw who and what I was and knew what I would become. He told me When the last tree has been cut Down, The Last Fish Caught, The Last River Poisoned, Only Then Will We Realize We Cannot Eat Money." She slowly stood him up and looked into his eyes

"He told me I was nature itself it is how I can see what I see the good and bad in every living beast human or animal, but that is my ability as a healer I can teach you what I can nature hasn't like man since its man that destroys but I have seen the hands a woman can do as well. I think its time your people how actually seen this side of you, I am not saying how you are in private with me but to show them you are human that you bleed as they do. I am owed a few favors in town I could even do something like a ball if you wished it, and let your cousin chock on our love. Because she doesn't want to unleash the bitch I can be, if she did something to you I would slit her throat and feed her to the wolves" She looked at the deer and bowed before them again and the deer took off.

"Told them to find shelter its going to rain soon, I can smell it " She said and smiled weakly "I have always smelt the rain, we will rule this kingdom as equals even though I am sure the men on your side of the family wont take kindly, but it is the only way to make up for the mistakes of your past is to get past it and rule the kingdom with understanding, patience and not be heading the first man you see." She stroked his cheek "But that man isn't in your eyes anymore he is gone"

Leon listened intently as Belle spoke, her words carrying both wisdom and a deep connection to the world around her. He felt her strength, not just in the way she carried herself, but in the quiet resolve behind her words. She had lived with a sense of purpose long before they met, and now, she was inviting him into a deeper understanding of not just her power, but their shared potential.

As she recounted the lesson from the Native American elder, Leon was struck by the gravity of it—*"We cannot eat money."* It resonated within him, touching on something he had felt for a long time but had buried beneath his duties, his losses, and the expectations of the crown. His life had been dominated by power and wealth, but none of that had brought him peace. None of it had healed him. Belle, though, had—her presence, her love, her vision of the world as something more than just land to be ruled.

When she spoke of her ability to see the good and bad in every living being, Leon realized how much she had truly seen in him. She had known him at his worst, had seen the beast within him, and yet she had chosen to stay, to love him, to bring out the man he had once been before the darkness took hold. The thought of her sharing that part of herself with him, teaching him, gave him hope—hope that he could be more than the king his father had expected him to be. He could be the king Belle saw in him.

Her mention of his people, of showing them his humanity, struck a chord. He had spent so long hiding behind the mask of authority, of strength, that he had forgotten what it meant to simply be a man among men. Perhaps that was why his people had grown distant from him. Perhaps that was why his cousin had found it so easy to sow discord in his court. Belle was right—it was time for them to see him as he was now, not as the man he had been. And if that meant showing them his love for her, then he would do it proudly.

Leon smiled at Belle’s fierce words about his cousin, her loyalty burning bright in her eyes. He knew she would defend him, would stand by his side through anything, and it was that kind of devotion that made him love her even more. But it was her vision for their future, ruling the kingdom together with understanding and patience, that gave him clarity. He had always thought ruling required force, but Belle was teaching him that true strength came from balance—from ruling with the heart as much as the mind.

As Belle stroked his cheek and spoke of the man he used to be—the one who ruled through fear and anger—Leon felt a sense of relief. That man was gone, and in his place stood someone better, someone Belle had helped him become.

"You’re right," Leon said softly, his voice steady but filled with emotion. "That man is gone. I’m not the king I once was, and I don’t want to be. I want to rule this kingdom with you, as equals, as partners in every sense of the word. You’ve shown me what’s possible when we lead with love, when we listen to the world around us, and I want to honor that—to honor you."

He took her hand, holding it tightly as he looked into her eyes. "We’ll face the challenges together, Belle. The court, my cousin, even the past—they’re not insurmountable. And as for the men in my family who might object to us ruling as equals, well, they’ll have to learn what true strength looks like. It’s not about power or titles. It’s about understanding and patience, just like you said."

Leon paused, glancing at the sky. He could feel the shift in the air, the promise of rain on the wind, just as Belle had predicted. "You’ve always known what I needed, even when I didn’t know it myself. I’ll trust you, Belle, just like I always have. Together, we’ll build something better—for us, for the kingdom, for the future."

As the first drops of rain began to fall, Leon smiled, pulling Belle closer. "Let’s head back before the storm catches us," he said, his voice light but filled with warmth. "There’s so much ahead of us, and I want to face it all with you by my side."

Belle felt his words and knew all to well she was okay, and everything would be okay. “I know Leon I trust you, I would not be here if I didn’t. I will start to put the ball together. I Would suggest that you contact the family you have. Because I would want them all to be there, and of course the same for my father, sister and my new brother in law" Belle said with a grin on her face.

It will be fun and lets just say this ball will be something everyone will talk about.” Belle already had plans and it brought a smile to her lips, it would take a lot of doing, practice and many people to pull off. She felt the rain that snapped her back to reality and knew she didn't want to get anyone drenched because it could cause them, even the horses to get sick.

She nodded and smiled. She handed him the basket with the blanket in it and got up on her horse. “When we get back I want to invite you to my chambers I have a gift for you” she said softly. Racing to the castle as fast as she could beside him. She decided to give him a symbol of her love and commitment to him, just so he saw how serious she was about all this.

That this was far from a trap.

Thankfully by the time they got in the stables it poured, they were a little wet but not much. She was thankful to be back and putting away the horses she took the saddle off her horse even though servants were there to help, it was there job. But she loved taking care of people and animals, it was who she was in the end. So before she knew it her horse was free of its harness, was brushed a blanket over her and made sure she had food and warm water since she had been cold, cold water would make her very ill.

She learned that when she was four years old her older sister gave a cold wet horse cold water, they almost lost her she was so sick. Thankfully she had Belle and she sat with that horse the whole time, she did not know how he would take the gift but she trusted it would come in handy to show off there love for each other. She headed towards her chambers.

Leon followed Belle’s lead as they made their way back to the castle, the rain picking up around them. He watched her as she raced ahead, the wind catching her hair, her joy evident despite the weather. She had a natural grace, a kind of freedom in the way she moved, and it filled him with admiration. Belle had brought light into his life in a way he never thought possible, and now, the thought of the ball she was planning stirred a sense of excitement within him. It would be a chance for everyone to see what they were building together.

As they reached the stables, the rain poured down in earnest, but Leon didn’t mind the wet. His focus was on Belle as she tended to her horse, her hands moving with practiced care. Even though the stable hands were there, she took on the task herself, and he couldn’t help but admire her humility and kindness. It was these small acts that reminded him of the depth of her character, of the way she balanced her strength with gentleness.

After ensuring the horses were properly settled, Leon followed Belle into the castle. Her mention of a gift intrigued him, and as they made their way through the halls, he found himself wondering what it might be. Belle had a way of surprising him, of offering things that held deeper meaning than he ever expected.

When they reached her chambers, Leon paused, watching as she entered with the quiet confidence that always seemed to surround her. He was grateful for the privacy, for the moment away from the expectations and eyes of the court. Inside these walls, it was just the two of them, free from the weight of titles and responsibilities.

Belle turned to face him, and Leon felt a surge of warmth at the sight of her. She had a gift for him, something that would symbolize their commitment to one another. He felt a mixture of anticipation and gratitude, knowing whatever it was, it would come from her heart. He stepped closer, his gaze steady on hers.

"I don’t know what it is," Leon said softly, his voice full of affection, "but whatever you’ve prepared, Belle, I’ll treasure it. Just like I treasure you."

He reached out, taking her hand in his, feeling the steady connection between them. In this moment, as the rain beat softly against the castle walls, Leon felt more certain than ever of their path forward. They had weathered their own storms—both separately and together—and now, they were moving toward something greater. Whatever challenges lay ahead, they would face them side by side.

"What is this gift?" he asked gently, his eyes searching hers with curiosity and warmth. "Show me, my love."

She smiled at him and it was in a small box as she presented it to him, she had him hold the box as she removed the top and before she knew it the pendent showed and looked at him. She picked it up and placed it around his neck it cut close to his neck that made him more handsome if that was possible. She placed her hand on the necklace and a soft melody as she sang a soft Incantation. The melody was softly and looked into his eyes as she finished her song and smiled him. "My mother gave this told me and taught me what I needed to sing to make sure this protects the man I am going to marry"

Belle blushed a bit and could not help but smile at him "In case you get horribly wounded and I am not there this should help you, you are the man I am going to marry and I will be marrying you, I thought it was important to give this to you now. Guess you could call it an early wedding gift it was my grandfathers and she gave it to me to the one that I knew would take my heart, my body and my hand" She stroked his cheek "Just be sure when you go places to put it on" She said softly. "I hope you like it, they call it the amulet. If you get hurt I will know it, its the side effect but I would want to know the moment it happened, if it did."

"You have many enemies I am just trying to keep you as safe as I can"

Leon’s breath caught as Belle revealed the pendant, its silver gleaming in the dim light of her chambers. His gaze fell upon the intricate design—a delicate, twisting pattern resembling the branches of a tree, symbolizing strength, growth, and interconnectedness. At its center rested a small emerald, glimmering like the forest after a fresh rain. The craftsmanship was remarkable, but what struck him most was the meaning behind it.

His fingers brushed against the cool metal as she placed it in his hands, and he felt the weight of it—not just the physical weight, but the emotional significance. This wasn’t merely a gift; it was a promise. A symbol of everything they had shared, endured, and built together. A connection that ran deeper than words.

For a moment, Leon couldn’t speak. He turned the pendant over in his hands, admiring the way it seemed to glow with an inner light, reflecting the care and love Belle had put into selecting it. It was as if she had captured their journey in a single piece of jewelry, every twist and turn in the design representing a step they had taken together.

He met Belle’s eyes, his heart full. He had known she was serious about their relationship, but this—this pendant—felt like a solidification of their bond, something tangible he could carry with him. A constant reminder that he was no longer alone in his struggles, that she stood by his side through all the storms that life could throw at them.

“This…” Leon’s voice was thick with emotion, barely above a whisper. “It’s perfect.” He smiled softly, a warmth spreading through him. “Every part of it… it means more to me than I can say.”

He reached up, carefully fastening the chain around his neck, feeling the cool pendant settle against his chest. The weight of it felt comforting, grounding. As if, in wearing it, he was carrying a piece of Belle with him, a reminder of the life they were building together.

Looking into her eyes, Leon felt the depth of her love, her commitment, and the future they were about to create. The pendant wasn’t just a gift—it was a symbol of the life he wanted with her, a life built on trust, love, and the unshakable bond they had formed.

“I’ll wear it always,” he vowed, his voice steady and full of promise. He reached for her hand, drawing her closer, his eyes never leaving hers. “As a reminder of us. Of what we’re building. And of the love I will never take for granted.”

He pressed a kiss to her forehead, feeling the warmth of her presence. In this moment, with the rain softly pattering outside and the pendant resting against his heart, Leon felt a sense of peace he hadn’t known in years. The future was uncertain, but with Belle by his side, he felt ready to face whatever came next.

Belle could not help but smile it felt like this was meant to be and she did not want to lose anything, she would finish up her duties for the night and soak in the tube to ponder some things later, but she knew she was going to start planning the ball. “And as long as you where it I will know you are okay, technically we are connected by our bond.

But this necklace will make it stronger, our bond hits the limits once you leave this castle for whatever business you may have. I know you won’t always be able to take me, but it will set my mind at ease.” She smiled, feeling his lips on her face. Belle was glad he was happy with the gift and with her charming it, it would help.

“Within the next couple of days get a hold of any family you want at the ball, it will be set in about a month, unless you think more time will be needed since I am not sure what family you have outside this castle. She didn’t know much about his family since she only saw the two people from his family, always made her wonder.

“I know your uncle lives here as does thee she demon” she said trying to get a small smile out of him since they saw eye to eye on her that was easy to see. Thought she watched how much she teased since it wouldn’t be easy being related to her. And he didn’t want to hurt him.

“But love your uncle he is the sweetest man he is working on a perfume for our wedding he told me, and don’t worry about your subjects I know who I can trust to set the word on the time and place, your family probably wont like being in the same area as them but they need to learn without peasants you have no kingdom”

She knew Leon learned this from her and would agree but those around him in his royal corner will not like it very much. “It’s why I am hoping us being together to unite our two worlds it will be enough to change minds, rather you want to ask me to marry you then or later I will leave that up to you, because I know we will get there. I will always wait even if it took many years, you are the only one I would wait for” she said stroking his cheek.

“Will I see you for dinner tonight my lordship?” She said with a loving smile, with a hint of tease in her voice.

Leon stood quietly, feeling the weight of the pendant against his chest. It wasn’t just the physical object, though—it was the meaning behind it that stirred something deep within him. The bond between him and Belle, something he’d never imagined would grow this strong, had now taken on a life of its own. This pendant, with its enchanted touch, symbolized more than just love—it was a connection, a lifeline between them that would transcend the boundaries of distance and time.

As Belle spoke of their connection, the idea of it strengthening while he was away brought him a strange comfort. He was no stranger to isolation—his life before Belle had been one of duty, of distance, of keeping walls between himself and others. Yet here was this woman, offering him more than he had ever thought to ask for. She saw past the title, past the weight of the crown, and offered him something he had long abandoned: hope.

His fingers traced the pendant, the smooth cool metal against his skin, as he absorbed the gravity of her words. The idea that this simple object could tether them together, even when they were apart, brought him more peace than he had felt in years. There would be times when duty called him away, when the demands of his kingdom would pull him from her side, but now, with this gift, he would never truly be alone.

Leon had spent much of his life wrestling with the expectations of his family, the burdens of his title, and the long shadow of his past mistakes. The people around him had rarely offered him understanding—only judgment or praise, depending on the day. But Belle was different. She saw him, not just as a prince or ruler, but as a man, flawed and learning. That acceptance, that unwavering faith in him, was still something he was learning to accept.

Her mention of his family stirred mixed emotions. His uncle, sweet as he was, carried his own burden of living under the same roof as his wretched cousin. Leon’s jaw clenched at the thought of her—the scheming, the poison she spread throughout the court. But Belle’s lighthearted jab at the "she-demon" did draw the small smile she had been hoping for. It was rare for him to share a laugh about such things, but Belle had a way of easing his tensions, even when discussing subjects he’d rather not face.

And then she spoke of the ball. His heart swelled with a strange mixture of excitement and apprehension. Bringing their worlds together—the royals and the common folk—was no small feat. The old ways clung tightly to his family, and the nobles would be reluctant to share any space with the peasants they thought themselves above. But Belle was right. Without the people, there was no kingdom. He had learned that hard lesson through her, and he was beginning to see the truth of it more clearly.

As she stroked his cheek, Leon looked into her eyes and saw the future they were building. Belle had a vision—a way of uniting their two worlds, of bringing change that would ripple through the kingdom. It was ambitious, but then, so was she. He admired her for it. And in his heart, he knew she was right. This was the way forward, the way to heal the wounds of the past.

The idea of marriage lingered between them, unspoken but not unnoticed. Belle didn’t pressure him, but the promise of their future together hung in the air. Leon wasn’t sure when the right moment would come, but he knew, deep down, that they were moving toward that inevitable step. In time, he would ask. And when he did, it would be when the world around them was ready for what they represented—a new beginning.

For now, though, the thought of dinner, shared in the warmth of her company, was more than enough.

“I wouldn’t miss dinner with you for the world,” he replied, his voice warm and genuine, a hint of a smile playing at his lips. He glanced down at the pendant once more, feeling its steady presence. “Thank you, Belle, for this. It’s more than just a gift. It’s a reminder of everything we’re building, everything we’re becoming.”

With a final glance at her, filled with affection and gratitude, Leon stepped back. The weight of the pendant seemed to center him, grounding him in the reality of their future. The rain still pattered softly outside, but inside, with Belle, he felt the world slowly coming together in ways he hadn’t imagined before.

And for the first time in a long while, Leon felt ready to face whatever came next.

She knew much was going to happen in a matter of weeks but she was ready to pull in all her favors for this one evening its time the royals stop sticking up there noses at the people below their feet. Like it or not there was no way a kingdom would work without peasants, its how you got all your foods, all your dresses, fabrics, fancy jewelry and horses. Without the little people nothing would be in there mouth, on there body or anything like that, right now everything was perfect and she knew that the figure of the pendent she grinned happily.

"Past, Present and the future Leon, is what each part of this means, together we will show much on both sides. His ball will remind them without out the "Little People" they would have no animals, no clothing or jewelry hell they wouldn't even have food" She said simply. She was happy when he said that he would see her at dinner, she didn't know if he had things he had to do which was why he asked, but she knew not many more nights will they have of this. They may unleash something good or something bad, which is why this ball meant everything to her.

It had to work, it just had to.

Belle had been through a lot but she hadn't been through the harsh things other people have in other kingdoms, she had heard of kings and queens worse then Leon, people who were beasts both king and queen. This would be a mission we should all be equals because to her they were. Perhaps she would show him something special for dinner, her other ability she had as a healer. She figured out when she would tell him about Juliet so she can put that to bed when she was at that part, which wont be for a long time.

"I have something special planned then for you, the Ball shouldn't be the first time you hear me sing" She wasn't going to say anymore then that and make him wonder about it till later that night. He was everything to her and would show every inch of her at one point she knew that much, and she heard the clock strike 3 pm and smiled, she love the way the bells sounded, she closed her eyes enjoying the music that they made, and it rang beautifully here in her room. She wrapped her arms around him and looked into his eyes.

"I am glad we have each other Leon, it will be nice when I can finally show you everything there is of me but also prove that I am your soul mate. Not just in small words or gestures, but to feel it deep down inside your very soul, in a way that will take your breath away from you and make you smile over it" She knew at sometime soon he would be able to feel certain things from her, it was more then need and want but it was hard to put into words, ever since the successful picnic she had been drinking a special potion.

"Well till then my king" She said softly kissing him softly, shutting the door was always so hard even though they had much to do. Then again it was time for her to drink that potion. She had it specially made because it was something you had to drink a good month before it would even take hold. The potion would make it where the first time they make love she would bare him a child. She knew the king was forty five and he needed an hire, she knew a boy would be needed so he would be the next king, since a queen usually only took care of the kingdom a while before she was forced to Marry rather she liked it or not.

So the potion would also make sure the baby will be a boy it was hard on her body to drink because it made her sick for about an hour after taking it, but she was doing what she thought was necessary, time wasn't on there side and she knew it. She knew the night they would make love she would tell him then, so after drinking it she took a bath and soaked in the tube allowing the side effects to pass before getting into another nice Dress . Taking another potion to make her hungry, but to her it was all worth it.

She knew what time it was and took a deep breath, she was not to sure why she did this but she was always nervous, never sure why either. They loved one another, but maybe it was the fact she was sharing her secret with him. As it struck six the double doors opened up and she came in lifting her dress a bit so it did not drag on the floor, always "My always handsome one" She said to him and she knew what he would say, it was to easy. She kissed him softly and held him close to her. "Hopefully its not possessive to admit but its hard staying away from you" She said softly.

Hard enough courtships were slow as they were but this pain she felt away from him was different.

Leon felt the warmth of Belle’s words echo in his mind long after she had spoken them, her presence lingering like the gentle brush of her kiss. As he stood there, watching her disappear behind the door, a flood of thoughts and emotions washed over him, more intense than ever before. He had grown used to the idea of having Belle in his life, but now, standing at the edge of a deeper bond, it struck him just how much she had come to mean to him.

The pendant hung heavily around his neck, a tangible reminder of their connection. "Past, Present, and Future," she had said, and now he understood the weight of those words more than ever. Belle was not simply a part of his present—she was the bridge between his past and the future he had yet to build. She grounded him, offered him a vision of what they could become together. For so long, he had been surrounded by ambition, by the cold politics of his family and the court, but with Belle, there was warmth. She spoke of equality, of unity between the royals and the common folk, and for the first time, Leon found himself believing in that vision. Not because it was an idealistic dream, but because she made him believe it was possible.

As he touched the pendant again, his thoughts wandered to the ball she had so passionately planned. It would be a grand event, but more than that, it was a statement. A challenge to the rigid structures of his world. Leon knew that bringing the two worlds together would not be easy—his family, his court, and even his own blood would resist. But if anyone could pull it off, it was Belle. Her strength was in her compassion, her belief in something greater than herself. And he admired that about her more than he could put into words.

He recalled her promise, her vow to show him everything, to prove she was his soulmate. A part of him already believed it, perhaps even more than he had admitted to himself. Belle had transformed his world in ways he hadn’t expected. What had started as a deep affection had grown into something more profound, more real. It wasn’t just about love anymore—it was about the life they could build together. The kingdom they could lead as equals. She had shown him sides of himself that he hadn’t known existed, and for the first time in his life, Leon felt like he was becoming the man he was meant to be, not just the prince or the ruler everyone expected.

And then there was the future—the unspoken promise that loomed between them. Belle’s mention of the ball had stirred something within him. Perhaps it would be the moment to take the next step, to solidify what they had with a proposal. But he wanted to be sure, to know that when he asked her, it would be in the right moment, not because of expectation, but because it was the culmination of everything they had built together.

Yet, something else tugged at the edge of his thoughts. Belle’s words about the potion, the cryptic hints of what she was planning. There was a depth to her that still eluded him, layers he had yet to uncover. She spoke of secrets, of a bond deeper than words, and though he trusted her with his life, there was a part of him that sensed there were things she hadn’t told him yet. And though he wanted to understand it all, he also respected that she would reveal them in her own time.

Leon wasn’t one for superstition, but Belle’s abilities—her healing, her connection to nature—had always fascinated him. He had seen enough to know that there was power in what she did, power that could shape their future in ways he couldn’t predict. Perhaps that was why he felt both anticipation and trepidation as they moved forward. He wasn’t sure what Belle’s "special plan" for dinner entailed, but the thought of hearing her sing filled him with a quiet awe. She had a way of surprising him, of revealing new facets of herself when he least expected it, and tonight would be no different.

As the thought of dinner lingered in his mind, Leon found himself longing for more than just her company. There was a pull between them now, a deep, undeniable connection that made it harder to be apart. She had said it herself, that it was hard staying away from him, and he felt the same. The formality of their courtship, the constraints of their status, it all felt secondary to the growing desire to be close, to share more than just words or stolen moments. He knew that once they crossed that threshold, there would be no going back. And, truthfully, he didn’t want to.

For now, though, he would hold onto this moment, this quiet before the storm of the ball and all the responsibilities it would bring. Tonight, they had each other, and as the thought of her song played in his mind, Leon felt a rare peace settle over him.

Whatever came next, whatever secrets were yet to be revealed, they would face it together.

Belle did not know what she was going to do in this moment but she was going to show him all the possibility of what she was, this evening would be a wonderful one. She had two songs in her mind but another one came from the heart, this one was what she was going to do.

The song she would sing is how she saw him and how they are now and when it came down to everything she was afraid. When she got to the dinner hall she grabbed his arm and took them to the piano that didn't get much attention, and motioned for him to sit on the bench and removed her gloves looking into his eyes she smiled at him.

"I was trying to pick a song for tonight I had two others in mind but this song means more to me because its one I have just made up, my ability will help you hear my heart sing as well as my heart and the back up music" She smiled looking at him and she closed her eyes.

"Mind to Mind, Heart To Heart Let Him See What's Inside My Heart" When she opened up her eyes she spoke "This song is about how I saw you at the beginning and how we have come so far now" She wanted to give him some story to the song because it was important he knew it in case it sounded negative but it was far from, she saw him as a beast.

Now he is a man..

With herself ready she began to play Please Take Me She sang which was a natural ability as was the ability to play the piano but the chorus back up of her and the other music that she couldn't perform he was hearing in his ears, like everyone making the song.

She didn't even need to look at the piano keys she knew it as well as she knew herself the whole time she sang to him looking into his eyes, using every bit of herself to show him everything in that moment that she was, she was nature but she was herself.

The song came so far from her heart it was amazing and right now she could tell he was touched, finally the song ended and she panted a little using this ability she hasn't used in a long time and needed to be sure she could do it because if she couldn't there would be a problem.

But she was grateful she could. She smiled at him and looked into his eyes she turned into him as much as she could do, placing her hand on his cheek. It was amazing how she loved him but she was willing to do anything for him.

"So wherever you go all I want is to be by your side so I can be there to help you if you need it, even if its just support. But that came from deep within my heart about how you made me feel and how you make me feel now" She said softly.

As Belle’s song filled the room, Leon felt as though he had been transported into a world entirely of her making. The melody, the way her voice intertwined with the unseen accompaniment, and the raw emotion in her eyes—everything came together in a way that left him breathless. He had never heard anything like it. This wasn’t just a performance, it was an offering, a window into her soul, and as the notes washed over him, he found himself overwhelmed by the depth of her feelings.

At the beginning of their journey, there had been distance between them, an invisible wall born from his own guarded nature and the expectations that surrounded them both. Belle had seen him in his most vulnerable state, had seen the beast he had kept hidden beneath the surface. And yet, through it all, she had never turned away. She had only grown closer, weaving herself into the very fabric of his life, until now, standing before him, she was an inseparable part of his world.

As she sang about their past and where they stood now, Leon couldn’t help but reflect on his own transformation. He had once believed that his life was destined to be a lonely one, that duty and obligation would always overshadow personal happiness. But Belle had changed that. She had shown him that love wasn’t a weakness, but a strength—something that could unite kingdoms and change the course of history. And, more than that, she had given him hope for a future he hadn’t dared to dream of.

The song reached its climax, and Leon could feel the intensity of Belle’s emotions pouring into each note. Her voice was steady, but the vulnerability behind it was palpable, and it struck him deeply. The sincerity of her love for him, her willingness to bare everything she was—it left him awestruck. In that moment, he realized just how much she had risked by opening herself up to him, by sharing not just her heart, but her very essence.

When the last notes faded, leaving only the soft sound of their breaths in the quiet hall, Leon found himself at a loss for words. He had always known Belle was special, that her gifts went far beyond the ordinary, but this was something else. This was magic, not just in the sense of her abilities, but in the way she made him feel. She had taken something as simple as a song and turned it into a declaration, a testament to their bond.

As Belle rested her hand on his cheek, Leon felt a rush of affection, stronger than anything he had experienced before. He had been touched by her music, yes, but more than that, he had been moved by her courage. She had shown him her heart in the truest sense, and in doing so, she had reminded him of his own.

He looked into her eyes, feeling the warmth of her love wrap around him like a shield. In that moment, Leon knew there was no force in the world that could pull them apart. Not the court, not his family, not even the lingering doubts that sometimes whispered in the back of his mind. Belle had given him a gift far greater than any material token—she had given him her trust, her vulnerability, and her unwavering belief in their future.

Leon took her hand in his, the silence between them heavy with meaning. He could feel the weight of her words, the promise in her song, and he knew that his own feelings had deepened in ways he hadn’t fully acknowledged until now. She was right—they had come so far. And though the path ahead was uncertain, one thing was clear: he could not imagine a future without her by his side.

Leon held Belle’s gaze, his heart full from the depth of her song and everything she had shown him. For a moment, he just looked at her, taking in the sincerity in her eyes, the love she had poured out in every note. He felt a surge of emotions he could no longer keep inside, and as he spoke, his voice was soft but filled with intensity.

“Belle,” he began, his hand still holding hers, “I’ve never had anyone do something like this for me. You’ve given me more than I ever thought possible—not just tonight, but in every way. You’ve seen me at my worst, and yet here you are, loving me through it all.”

He paused, letting the weight of his words settle between them. His hand gently brushed her cheek, his thumb tracing the line of her jaw as he continued.

“When you first came into my life, I didn’t think I deserved someone like you. I thought I was too broken, too consumed by my own demons. But you…you’ve changed everything, Belle. You’ve shown me that love can heal, that it can rebuild even the most shattered parts of someone.”

He drew her closer, his voice deepening with emotion. “What you did tonight, the song, the way you’ve opened yourself up to me—I will never forget it. And I want you to know…I’m all in. Whatever the future holds, whatever comes our way, I’m with you. Always.”

Leon leaned in, his forehead resting against hers, his voice dropping to a whisper. “I love you, Belle. More than I ever thought I could love anyone. And I promise you, I’ll do whatever it takes to show you that every day.”

There was a vulnerability in his words, a quiet strength behind the emotion, as if he was letting her see into the deepest part of himself. He wasn’t just saying the words—he meant them with every fiber of his being. And in that moment, he knew there was nothing he wouldn’t do to protect the bond they had built together.

Belle felt incredible and it was a nice feeling that everything was so perfect in this moment, he basically was telling her he would marry her and knew that when he actually got a ring, got down on his knee she knew what she would say. "Then when you ask me the answer will be yes" Showing Leon she knew all to well that he knew what he was talking about.

Part of the reason she did this was to be sure she could do it for the ball but she wanted him to know everything before then, weeks before then because there were things she wanted to get off her chest now. Showing just how much he was loved and how much she has noticed his changes from beast to man and what she knew about his mother, she would be proud of her son.

They both were the weapon this kingdom needed and she wasn't going to allow anyone to harm anyone anymore, that meant in the castle and outside it. Sure there still needed to be punishment if necessary for crimes, but if the situation of the kingdom got better the crime rate would drop down, this she knew because she had seen it. If you take away the need to steal then you take away the crime.

"I know I will see it Leon because I have already seen it, and every day keep seeing it. I know nothing of your father, but the things I know about your mother may she rest in peace, she will be proud of you, I know this because she is with you always, she helps me keep an eye on you. If you ever get a feeling of goosebumps on your neck, that's her hand there" Belle smiled at him and knew because of there bond, he would be able to tell when and if she lied and she was not.

Pressing her forehead to his she closed her eyes and enjoyed the silence accept for hearing his breath and his heart beat. "You and I are the weapon we need for this kingdom, if you take away the needs of the people the crime going on in the kingdom will go down a lot. Make there lives better and they will repay you in kind. I have already started doing a small something with your uncle, he donated a male and female cow and two calf's to the stable master in your kingdom to help produce milk so it will help bring in milk and cheese that they can use and sell"

Pulling away a bit "I did not bribe your uncle or offer him anything I will say that right now" She said making a small joke and giggled "He did it because he gets what he needs to make his perfumes that he likes to make. So its a fair trade and that was our idea I just hope you have other family members that wont mind working with a peasant girl, a lot of the upper class will always see me as a peasant, which is fine I don't care what they think. Only what you think and what my father thinks but all is good with him." Looking at the food she made a gesture.

"We shouldn't waste this lovely food I am starving" Taking his hand two places made but much closer so they were close enough to touch each other "The Rabbit we are eating tonight is all me. I hunted, skinned and took out the organs not a lady like thing but I wanted to make it myself tonight. That is probably why I never had a suitor because I act more like a guy sometimes doing things un lady like but this was a small un lady like thing the recipe is all mine, my parents loved it "

Leon listened quietly, taking in Belle’s words as they sat together, the weight of her declarations settling over him like a comforting cloak. Each time she spoke, her belief in him, in them, felt more and more tangible, something he could grasp onto when everything else felt uncertain. The way she described his mother watching over him stirred something deep in his chest—a kind of warmth he hadn’t felt in a long time. He hadn’t spoken much about his mother to Belle, not because he didn’t want to, but because the memory of her had always been a tender wound. Yet, hearing Belle speak of her with such certainty and reverence, it felt like a kind of healing.

He smiled softly at her joke about his uncle and the cows, a rare lightness in his eyes. There was something disarming about how Belle balanced the weight of their discussions with humor and sincerity, keeping everything grounded even as they discussed the future of the kingdom. Her vision for the people, her understanding of what needed to change—it made him see her not just as the woman he loved but as the future queen who could stand beside him in everything. She was right, of course. The kingdom could be healed if they worked together, if they led by example and made real changes to the way things had been for far too long.

Leon’s gaze softened as she mentioned the rabbit she’d hunted and prepared. There was something endearing about her pride in doing things that were “unladylike,” as she called them. To him, it made her all the more remarkable. He had never wanted the kind of woman who fit perfectly into the mold of courtly expectations. He wanted someone real, someone strong and unafraid to break those boundaries, someone like Belle.

As he took her hand and sat closer to her, Leon let out a quiet laugh, a rare sound from him. “You think hunting and preparing this rabbit makes you unladylike? If anything, it makes you extraordinary.” He squeezed her hand gently, his expression softening. “Belle, it’s not about what the upper class thinks of you. You are more than enough for this kingdom, for me. You’ve proven that over and over again. And as for family… you’ve already won over the ones that matter.”

He paused, his eyes lingering on her face, filled with a tenderness that had grown deeper with every day they spent together. “You’ve given me so much, Belle. You’ve shown me what love can be, and you’ve given me hope for a future that I never thought was possible. If there’s one thing I know now, it’s that we’ll face whatever comes our way together. We are stronger together.”

As the evening wore on, the warmth between them grew, both in words and in silence. There was something about this moment—the simplicity of sharing a meal, the closeness they now had—that made everything feel right. Leon knew they had battles ahead, but right now, it didn’t matter. What mattered was Belle, this moment, and the life they were beginning to build side by side.

Belle smiled at him and nodded “Very true Leon, true I am not worried about anything, accept the performance. I have already done certain things to get us going, such as having a dress made for me, I told them you gave me permission to have it made” She was not afraid of how he would react because the way she always thought of him, was always something easy to see. The only reason she had the dress made without asking is because it was going to take them three weeks to get it going, since she put a rush on it.

Everything made sense to her and loved everything “I also have sent out invitations to my father, sister, and brother-in-law. I put some stationary on your desk in your study before coming down for dinner” She grinned “I found out where all your family will be currently and I put their addresses on top of the stationary as well, you are going to want to send an invitation to everyone at least those who need to be there”

Sitting back, she enjoyed preparing it was something she was great at, she picked the dancers and while doing this making sure that Belle tended to her duties while doing all this, she wasn’t going to fall behind on what needs to be done, even knowing she was going to marry him, she still felt she had a duty to do her work. Sighing softly, she was happy about how things were getting done and each night they grew closer and closer. One thing Belle did not see coming is Leon asking her to marry him, he did not get down on one knee but that was not needed.

Belle knew that was going to come in time and knowing that was enough, she was going to be surprised when the time comes, as of right now she was content knowing what was going to happen to them. Only thing she did not know what was going to happen was the ball, Belle was grateful he did not seem to be angry that she mentioned his mother because he never talked about her, made her wonder why but she did not want to pry.

“May want to be careful since you love my cooking so much, and since I love to cook may end up gaining a few pounds” She winked at him she felt playful. She was not too sure why but something about tonight was different. Belle was so content she reached out placing her hand on his "When you finally ask me to Marry you Leon I hope you already know that answer" Belle said with a soft smile showing she was ready to say yes whenever asked.
