The Lounge's Summer Pool Party!!

Beams at the sight of the Brittiest girl in all the land

Hello, lovely. Would you like to share my blanket? Seems a bit silly having this daybed all to myself *small cough* and Ted.

Yes, Monroe is pretty darn awesome, I would agree. He makes the most delicious hot chocolates, like getting a hug from the inside *nod nods*

Um, apparently I may have forgotten to eat last night and had a glass or two... or three... ish... of wine. Did I do anything... well.... Essie-esque?

I'd love to.

smiles warmly and heads over to sit with Essie and Ted, hugging each one before settling back to enjoy the sun and company

And I think you had fun, of a sort.

nods with a wink

That's all that matters. And how is your weekend looking?

Pondering what the words "of a sort" could entail... then deciding to let it go

My weekend has been good so far. Travelled to see my papa in the country town he lives in, went to a football match which we haven't done in quite a many years, now relaxing doing Sudoku and watching Papa try and work out what he's done with one of his hearing aids

And you, lovely Brit?

Quiet. Plans have changed but not necessarily for the worse. Enjoying a lazy day with little ladies, writing a little - including my first post for an embarrassingly long time.

blushes a little

But my perfectly patient partner enjoyed am happy about that. Hoping to get to a few more of those before my muse gets worn out today.

Other than that? Toyed with the idea of baking, as it's been a while since I did and it's now cool enough to think about having the oven on for a prolonged period, and then some writing on my novel project.

grins and asks Monroe for another fruit juice

Lazy days with your little ladies sounds perfectly delightful. Ted wishes he could come and join in but he feels he is needed here more *nod nods*

Although he is tempted by the sound of baking. He's developed a fondness for red velvet cake... don't know where he gets that from... whistling innocently

giggles

Mmm, red velvet cake. That's on my list to try and bake at some point. Never actually had it but it sounds divine!
Today though, I think it'll be a chocolate orange cake. A practice run for my birthday cake.

winks

Ooh, Jaffa Cake!!!!! Scrumdiddliumptious :)

Speaking of birthdays, when are we going to have our Hawaiian bash?

Memory starts to waft into brain

I have a vague recollection of Starry mentioning a hula skirt.... and I said something about coconut bras.... shakes head Essie and drinking is not a good combination

The three of us need to plot and plan and...other things beginning with 'p'!

Brit nods knowingly

Soon, though, I'm sure.

strops out on deck and sits down heavily on a deckchair, sighing in exasperation

Monroe, I'll need your strongest drink. The stronger the better. I want to forget I have to go to work tonight. I also want to forget how they are screwing around with my wages and making me unable to book my flights to see my Mister.

Really strong. Put whatever you want in it.

Sorry to hear that, lovely.

offers a consolatory smile and hug

It sucks when that happens. My boss has done it all too often to me. And...just...

growls

Will hope it gets sorted soon though.

Me too. The thing that really pisses me off is that the flights are the lowest this weekend that they've been so far. I'm raging. My boss hasn't even given any of us a contract or anything.

accepts a double whiskey on the rocks from Monroe

Thanks. You're a peach.

Anyway, it's nice to see you're having a nice chilled weekend with the little witches. It's a lovely day here today actually, and I'm spending it inside looking at employment legislations and putting fresh sheets on the beds. A woman's work, eh?

That absinthe and cask strength whisky combination looks delicious, Monroe. Could you make another for me - and add some Calvados? In a pint glass?

Ms. Serpentine, sorry to hear of your work troubles. Capitalism is a wretched, amoral, sorry business altogether. I assume it will be sorted out in time for you to go, but that you wanted to be able to get it all sorted as soon as possible and now can't?

Brit - I have started reading more of the delightful work you sent, and enjoying it completely. I should be able to get back to you in a few days with some more comments.

Peeks out from under blanket, where she has fallen asleep again

Hello, Pretty, sorry to hear about your pooh-head of a boss. Hope my advice helps a little. Ted and I are willing to fly over and kick someone in the cods if needs be... okay, I'll do the kicking, Ted can keep watch...

Squeezes Pretty's hand and accepts another super hot chocolate from Monroe, this time with a little umbrella to give it that tropical feel

Well the thunder is rolling in, along with rain, so looks like a rather exciting hour or so ahead. Mini witches are both entranced by and terrified of storms, and the dog is scared stupid, so I think my relaxation might be about to come to an abrupt end.

But, on the plus side, in a few minutes I'll have managed to get four posts up today which is more than I've managed in a very l-o-n-g time and that feels good. Just hope my co-writers like them, they've all had quite a wait, and that I can get to all the others I owe before too long.

grins

And such is the way of the world. The laundry keeps pulling me away although seeing as it's raining there's little I can do about the rest of it right now.

And I look forward to hearing from you, good Sir! I hoped you'd enjoy it when you got chance to read.

bounces a little with anticipation

Doing laundry when it rains? Pfft. Unless you're running out of clean pants, leave it, I say!

Sips hot chocolate, not caring that she now has a whipped cream & chocolate flake moustache

The three of us need to plot and plan and...other things beginning with 'p'!

Brit nods knowingly

Soon, though, I'm sure.

As along as one of the p's isn't procrastinate! I'm so looking forward to having a party for our birthday. Though I shan't be drinking... bad things happen... okay, apparently funny for everyone else, not so for me

Perhaps Starry can knit some pineapples to hang around the place?

Yawns quietly

Sorry but I think I need to get some sleep. Travelling tomorrow so bit of a long day.

Hugs Brit tight and makes sure she has enough blanket, blows Pretty a kiss and squeezes her hand, letting her know she's here if needed, snuggles down & hugs Ted close, glad to be snug and safe

takes out a pad and starts making a 'p'-related birthday party list

...pineapples...parrots...paper lanterns and party balloons...piña coladas and pimms....

taps her pencil on her teeth

...what else begins with 'p'?

I know this is a girl-thing, and I wouldn't normally dream of butting in, but don't forget parasols, peacocks and pink champagne. No party can call itself a party without that little triumvirate.

Peacocks, how could I have forgotten! I do love them. Pink champagne too, for that matter. And it's not a girl thing at all.

winks as she scribbles down his excellent suggestions

It's a party for three birthday girls, but all are welcome to attend. Would be silly if it were just us, would it not?

You are absurdly kind, dear Brit. I was planning to come disguised as a peacock (to be honest, it wouldn't require a great change in my ordinary attire), but I fear I must decline. I think you three will have a wonderful time, with locals and friends flocking to the party of the century, and I shall look forward to hearing all about it when you return. But thank you once again.

I understand. But, should you change your mind, there'll be a paper cup with your name on it, I'm sure.

smiles warmly

Sits bolt upright on the daybed

Penguins! We forgot penguins!

Looks around, realises there's just Monroe left

I don't want to forget the penguins, Monroe. Can you remind Brit if you see her?

Monroe nods and hands her the key to the beach hut

Good idea, I think I'll go and get settled in again. Come on, Ted, we can get to work on your pirate outfit for the party... yes, I'm sure Starry's hat will go with the costume.

Birthday party? Could I join? I'm only asking because it's my birthday tomorrow.

Bubbles runs around greeting everyone, quacking and flapping his wings.

Yeah, he's excited to be back here. Other party paraphernalia? Paparazzis? Piñatas!

looks up suddenly, from where she apparently fell asleep with her birthday supply notepad on her chest and grins

Of course you can. And how exciting!

adding penguins and all the other suggestions to the growing list

I think it will be a spectacular affair!
