The Mansion

Less than 30 days until he leaves. Things are quiet, now. The maids have been safe. It's easy to see in the way they sway their hips and look longing down the hallways. It's left the Manse a bit more boring than usual. A bit too quiet. The gifts are left in the same place they have always been left. A bouquet of carnations, colorful; as though placed in defiance of winter. A six pack of microbrew.

They aren't the only friends he's abandoned. His cowriters, the best sorts, have been left to hang in limbo for a short while. They understand. He's glad.

But his life is filled with his friends, his dogs, and his family. He's drinking up every last day before he heads out and leaves them behind. The gym is his only constant. It feels as though a ground to which he will take with him when he endures the upcoming trials.

It's quiet. Too quiet.

But it'll have to do for awhile.

She sat in the study sipping coffee. Her thoughts are tinged with a bit sadness. Not much. Bittersweet actually. Ice is an additional life force in the house and it has been quiet of late. Too quiet. However, she is happy that family and friends take up his time. She misses his presence. He's a good friend. One of the best. The carnations she found this morning in the usual place he leaves such things, brought a smile to her lips. They sit on her desk this time. Tipping her head to rest on the back of the chair, she whispers with the wholehearted emotion that is a part of her.

"Be safe this new year wherever your feet take you, my friend. My thoughts, my prayers for your safekeeping and your happiness, are with you. Always."

She had no doubt he would be fine. He would tackle whatever trials and tribulations would come his way and master them as he does everything else. Her writing with him would be on continual hold until his return and even then, they may well just begin anew. Such was the way of things. She had no regrets or hard feelings. She understood. She cared.

With a soft sigh, she set to work on threads that required her attention now. She had taken a break and now needed to get back to it. Where to start... the warrioress and the barbarian first. The soft tap of keys began.

Journal Entry~

So, here I stand on the precipice of a new year. I can't help but sit here and glance back over the year. It hasn't been an easy one, but it also hasn't been an extraordinarily hard one either. I am, above all else, thankful to be alive. The women in my family don't seem to live long. My guess is that they seldom look after their own health as they are too busy looking after others. I am guilty of worrying over others but I make a point to look after my own health. If I don't look after me, then I won't be here to look after the others and I am the cornerstone of my family. That's a huge responsibility but I was groomed for it.

2011 brought me to this place where I can write to my heart's content. It's given me some fantastic writers to create with. I've also learned something more about human nature. While being on the net means you can be any way you choose, I have found being around the same people long enough, their true nature peeks through. Regrets? None in the RW, except maybe being a better human being. Here? Maybe learning to have more patience with people and realizing that when things or people irritate me, to simply walk away from the computer for a time. Other than that, I have none. There is not a single damn thing I have done here on Lit. that I've done wrong. I speak from my heart and whether or not people like what they read, is entirely on them.

So, before this year ends I want to thank my co-writers, M, F33k, Ice, Veroe, EkedSad and Fish for agreeing to write with me. I am enjoying your creativity immensely. You guys rock!

I also want to thank the Gladiator, M13, CG, Archangel1978 and Apollion for their attempts at creating with me.

There are a few more guys out there I'd love to write with, given the opportunity, so maybe in 2012 I'll get lucky.

I wish everyone in Lit, especially those that take the time to read, not only this, but also the Mansion in general and any of my posts, a very prosperous and fulfilling new year. Sometimes, fulfilling doesn't come in a pretty package with a bow and a smile. Sometimes, it does. I hope that their footsteps take them where they want to go and I hope they do so with good friends. For those that must away for a time, take faith. Time flies when you hold onto loved ones and friends, wherever they may reside and come back just as soon as you can.

And though most of us will be ringing in the new year at different intervals....

Happy New Year, Everyone!

It has been quiet down there for a while. He appreciates the gesture every time the man visits, which is not often these days. The beer is always there though whenever he does.

A sign is put up just outside his room in the entertainment area downstairs.

He then grabs a bottle, pops it open and relaxes back on the couch, switching on the TV. He would join Cait upstairs in a little bit in order to wish her a happy new year.

dashes in the mansion, pinches Caits bottom, kisses her cheek and runs away smiling

You have been touched!!!!! :D

*blinks as the whirlwind known as Cherry darts in and is gone again. Grins at the kiss on the cheek and eeps at the pinch to her backside before dashing after the missy to return the favor*
