Like Des, I remember playing out on the playground under the screen, which was the best. Remember all those old refreshment commercials with the big cartoon people with the star-like sparkles on their teeth?
When we were little we'd wear our pajamas there, and if we watched from the car, by the time we'd made it through the commercial and the Feature Coming Attractions, and the cartoon and the credits, I was often asleep. If the movie trailer was scary, our parents would reach back and put one hand over each of our four sets of eyes, but a couple times I peeked. Still remember one with a skull rolling down a long staircase, chasing some screaming lady.
We used to lie out on the warm hood of the car sometimes to watch the show. It was great on the rare occasion when we didn't have to eat food we'd brought with, but got to go to the concession stand for Milkduds or Dots, or something.
