Yup. that's on my list to see when it comes out on DVD :)
 
I haven't seen anything 3D at the cinema, they seem to wack a couple of quid on the entrance price which I find annoying.
I tend to go to autism friendly shows, less noisy, usually a far nicer clientele :)

Looking forwards to this Trek

Lally, I was thinking, has your girl seen the X Files yet? That has a great level of geekery and some good storylines. X

No she's not but I think it's a good idea. Just as an update, I've started reading the Game of Thrones book, and although not as sexually graphic as the TV show, there's enough in it to make me veto it for her.

If you think it is any good I might give it a go, I keep meaning to read Hunger games too.
I will keep rummaging in my drawer of geekery to see what else lurks there that would be appropriate.

Yes, she's read the hunger games and really liked them. She's not so keen on the vampire stuff though - she thinks its dull!!

She is probably too young for the Anne Rice series. That is about the only vampire series I liked.
Some Dean Koontz books are pretty good, he did a couple for a younger target audience.

It bothers me that the books she reads are very sad in a lot of ways - kids with terminal cancer, that kind of thing. I know she's still at the age where these are just concepts to her and she can't feel the full emotional whack behind them, and she is a very hormonal pre-teen who loves a drama, but I would like to see a bit of light relief creeping in from time to time!

If she likes a bit of light sci-fi try her on the Miles Vorkosigan saga by Lois McMaster Bujold. politial and detective stories in space. some fantasy elements. some adult themes but not handled in an adult manner and plenty of light moments.

I love them.

Thanks for that - ill look out for them, and try to steer her in that direction without it looking like mums idea....:D
 
Lots of drama down our road, police pulling in some dodgy looking blokes, lots of drug dealing going on, let's hope they got them!
 
Just heard, another failed funding bid at work, things are dire. I don't want to leave, I don't want us to go under. Nothing is coming in, I just cannot figure out what we are doing wrong :(

Sorry to hear that, Daisy :( I'm assuming my idea hasnt helped then - I'm going to have to bear a grudge for that, I think, next time they want help from me....

Late up this morning after best night's sleep in ages, then stuck behind a milk float on the drive in to work - typical!

There's nothing more disheartening when you reach a junction, see the milk float drive past, followed by another 3 miles of nose to tail traffic....

I have had no word from him, it may be a case of the cheque is in the post, but it would be good to know one way or the other.

Round here every slow moving car is a honda jazz, owned and driven by someone in their 90's who will not go over 15mph and there seeems to be hundreds of them!


MF, physio doesn't seem to be doing much good, I have become stupidly out of condition because I am not supposed to be on my feet :(

Looks like i might be going to Sweden again next week. Fun.
