Things that made you smile today ~ 2013

In honour of Alana's original thread which will soon be locked...

I know the smile threads get done to death everywhere, but they're happy good humored threads, and I don't see the harm in one here. If you don't like the topic, please don't comment here about it as it's meant to be light hearted. :rose:

What/who made you smile today?
Watching my neighbor's daughter cut across my lawn on her way home! Oh what a tiny tight outfit she is wearing!

Getting two completely awesome replies one from Belvino and one from Sinful-Whispers. When did I get so lucky to have such talented cowriters to write with?

Now I need to be awesome and write replies for Asa and LT so they can have something to smile about too.

Three personal messages today. One being so helpful. Another waiting for a story we are writing together for Lit. One just interested in my likes of sensual films.~

Michael Sam kissing his partner on live TV and ESPN airing it, without apology or hesitation, and not a single word mentioned of it on the air. Ignorance exploded on Twitter, whatever, but the reality is that in the span of a month we've seen two important and socially significant steps made by the NBA, NFL, and ESPN. The major professional sports in the United States (and perhaps throughout the world) have always been a bastion to the homophobic, sexist, and bigoted. That arena has veiled those kinds of behaviors and mindsets under the guise of "locker room atmosphere/talk/behavior" and given it a safe place.

I'm glad that those people feel a little less safe there.

Even if there is still a long way to go.

I'm glad for these things.

This was a good post to log in and see.

The fact that these events were reported in Australia meant they were still thought "worthy" of reporting. However, they were reported respectfully and matter-of-factly here which means things are changing.

One day, it won't matter at all who a draftee kisses and it will be not be considered worthy of reporting.

We recently had a meeting of all the CEOs of all the popular codes here (AFL, Rugby League, Rugby Union and Soccer) luckily enough before Sam kissed his partner and they basically said in typically Australian language that enough was enough and any sort of bigotry was unacceptable.

It's a workplace and entertainment and culture - it's not acceptable anywhere else so it shouldn't be acceptable there. I can try to punch your head in and win, but in the end, you're my competitor and someone who is bound to me in the shared context of competition - everything else that happens there should be as it should be in a civilised society. A grass field or a court does not change that.

Good.

Getting the apartment spotless at last. I adore a clean and organized space to live in it is a pet peeve of mine if it is not clean. So, it made me smile to have it all done. Plus, a nice friend pm me on the site today to just see how I am doing for a change that is something to smile about.~

It is a lovely warm day out and I am going swimming later. That makes me smile.
