TSCLT 12.0: The pantheon hates a pussy 2.0

Happy Monday. Got some good sleepin' in on round two. The nice thing about this time of day is The Quiet. The rest of the world in this time zone isn't doing much, and they're not making much noise doing it. The cats walk very softly. It is the galloping that is noisy. They are allowed - they own the place.

There were a lotta lotta bikes out over the weekend. I reckon it was folks getting in what they'll consider to be their last rides of The Season. It was warm and nice and I get that. I also get that Wat gets heavy gear and riding when it's cold, too. Morticia stays out. So does Zelda when she's here.

Wheels and inspections this morning. I reckon I'll try to get a jump on it all.

After coffee alters my consciousness.

"I have known good and evil,
sin and virtue, right and wrong;
I have judged and been judged;
I have passed through birth and death,
joy and sorrow, heaven and hell;
and in the end I realized
that I am in everything
and everything is in me."

~ Hazrat Inayat Khan

If there is no lustful desire, the risings of sorrow are not produced, the wise man seeing the bitterness of sorrow, stamps out and destroys the risings of desire.

I've seen studded tires on some motorsickles in winter. The hard core old guys have trikes (and not the gold wing conversions) for snow.

Apples. Tis the season.Makes me miss my old fool Bully Poodle, the pasture poodle who adopted me. He was a huge fan of apples. Wat bought a couple of bags and one of them was in the barn over a freeze. Soft, mushy. Guess what? Poodles don't care. But you do have to segment poodle apples. Besides, that way, they think they are getting more.

Walkabout went pretty well. The boss was here. We called the wire butcher boss. He's gonna can that poor benighted bastard they had down here and we get The A Team to finish up. We'll get an inspection this week, thanks be to Allah.

Them looks mighty firm.

Happy Tuesday!!! Slept okay. Went into the kitchen to make coffee and the former porch cat was standing in the water bowl. I used to wonder how his outside water was always subject to getting filthy, and now we know. The girls are chasing each other. Geezer is resting.

Looks like a rainy day. Drips and drops off and on. And it may get down to frost temps by tomorrow morning or the next. And then back to 70 on Saturday.

We have a list of stuff to work on. We always get those from walking about with los jefes. It keeps us from (ever) running out of things to do.

As long as there is never an out of coffee experience.

Latkes for lunch today with a side of paperwork. Things are back to being smooth and I give the new office manager credit for that, he's adapted to the job and doing great, good people can make any workplace better.

Wat has good peoples here. Our peoples. The subs, not always.

It's been busy all day but it has wrapped up a bit early. Got a couple of things to note on the daily log and then I think that I shall head on out to home.

Gave cash to the crew just because we could. I know other firms are looking to poach.

Poaching is punishable by shooting them and leaving them to rot in the bush. Then again, I have neither been poached nor poached. Except for those eggs that time.

Home. Grazing in, because I can. Hell, I even turned on the oven. Regular, not microwave.

We should be rid of subs by Monday/Tuesday. Wat is on the taking care of little tidbits that the inspector wants. And trying to make certain that nothing gets overlooked.

Inspectors. Some enjoy being adversarial and others want to be part of the team. I like the team guys that get their shit done and then, get outta the way.

Happy Wednesday!!! It's a bit cooler this morning. Slept decently - was out when the alarm went off. Good thing for coffee as today will be busy again.

This guy acts like he owns the place. Which, for the conglomerate private/gummint organization he works for, that's a valid position. They also are the bank on many of the jobs that they're involved with. He's by the book. The book is thorough, and if the owner signs on, everybody gets a copy of the book. He just wants what's in their thorough book, whatever the city wants, and some things that are good practice for finish trades. Basically, there won't be any visible cracks.

Which is funny. The cabinet asshole, the one who thinks he knows as much as Sweet Baby Jeebus, didn't install scribe molding over s few irregularities at box/wall intersections. Guess what he'll be doing when he comes back???

By the book isn't bad as long as everyone has a copy of the same edition.

And on some occasions, the same printing. Meh, he's not so bad. Keep your arguments brief and specific and of limited importance. I won mine because it was reasoned and considered - and of minor importance.

It's been running x 2 around here this morning. The electrician was pretty broken hearted to see what a clusterfuck we got left. But, he's sorting it out and it already looks better and is moving faster. The painter thinks he's going to get some stuff done tomorrow. As usual, he's going to hit it with a too small crew instead of a big one next week who could knock it out by Friday the 10th. Besdies, subs hate having painters in the same county as where they are.

Damn!!! Long fucking day!!! Made some more decent headway. I do need to lean on the wire butcher boss for more hands on deck and more days on deck, too. He said he'd do as I asked. At least I have his perfectionist. Wat identifies with perfectionists. That may come as a surprise to some people.

"That may come as a surprise to some people." Not really, the example above is close to prefect.

It was taking a long time to get a reply from an owner's rep to go on a project. I gave the guy a detailed explanation of why we do it that way. Just when I was about to send a pile of calculations proving my point, he accepted our method. I filed the calcs. No use over-informing.

The ever popular Over-Explaining Method. Its roots seem to stem from Fear of Lack of Approval/Acceptance. However, the work usually speaks for itself, thanks be to Allah.

Home. Nuked something outta the fridge. Not really feeling the food thing, but I wager that a ball or two of ice cream later might make the difference.

Happy Thursday!!! Slept okay. Had the whole herd for much of the night, so I wasn't surprised to discover that it's a bit chill out. It is November, after all. Already getting in the 2024 calendars. Two more to order.

The new corporate pay system thingie has shat green yet. The old one would have on Wednesday night. Payday is tomorrow, so it's no matter. Besides, it takes a minute with a new system any way.

Coffee is faster

Gave cash to the crew just because we could. I know other firms are looking to poach.

This is why I pay above average for the ones I keep and use temps to sort them out.
Saw your message about using the same playbook and while that's a start people need to read it the same way too.
