A basque is some sort of undergarment (and not just a resident of the area in Northern Spain, MG) Basquelet is a little basque. I made that up.

Good old Frederick's of Hollywood--who should advertise themselves as the lingerie comapnay for those who like their lingerie without pretensions of class (who else would sell crotchless undies for men?)--had all these weird names for things they'd come up with: teddysettes, bralets, camisoids, I don't know. I miss my old catalog.
