My current cell phone (an old Nokia) is rather noisy when used as a camera. It sounds like an SLR shutter. My Canon digital camera on the other hand is much quieter but harder to be discreet.

I have to be very careful.

Actually, I'm realising that I rarely look at the images I've gotten, more than once or twice. Instead, I realise that the image stays in my head's hard drive just as well..and just as easily retrievable. The really memorable ones never ever get erased.
