VA friends

That sounds like a fun day. I will have to plan an outing to those two battlefields. I have been to bunch but never any in the valley. It was years ago but I went to an reenactment at Bull Run which was really cool. Have you ever read any of the Sharp novels about a British soldier during the Napoleonic war? They were really good.

Thanks for the good review.

Well if you do make sure you follow those Civil War Trail signs, they are a big help. Cedar Creek will be having the annual reenactment on October 16 & 17, the date of the actual battle, & battlefield.Compared to Western NY these things are Huge down here. The last one I went to ( pre Covid) must have had close to 2500+ people involved. Dozens & dozens of cannons & well over 100 horses.
Yes I remember watching the Sharpe series on Public Television when it first came out ( 90’s?). Was very impressed by everything about it… of course it was a British production 👍🤣
Off to Frontier Culture Museum for a Juneteenth program after lunch. Should prove interesting. Enjoy the rest of the weekend. Slainte

no, sorry. saw someone speaking about Arizona in earlier thread 🤷‍♂️
She is not around anymore. I believe that is where she lives now but had lived in this area in the past so something drew her to this thread.

Good to see you again, Good Sir. I hope on this last day of August things have settled down after your move across the Potomac, & you can start to enjoy your new surroundings. Alls well here in the Valley. Attended a very good program last weekend at Frontier Cultural Museum on the Revolutionary War & British & German prisoners here in the Valley back in 1780. Hope you have an enjoyable Labor Day weekend. Slainte 🍺

Hey fire. It has been busy here settling in. Putting in a fence for the dogs. It is a new kind where you pound steel poles into the ground and then the vinyl fence fits over top. Was suppose to be easier than the convential way of digging post holes for 4x4 posts but I don't believe it is any easier and much harder to get a nice straight line of posts.

Glad things are going good in the valley. I went to a place the other week called Fatty's. It was cool how you got beers. The taps were all along the wall. You put a card in, poured how ever much beer you wanted and were only charged for the amount poured. That let me sample a bunch of different beers.

Hope you have a good weekend too. Looking forward to a few days off.

Glad to see things coming together for you at the new place. Interesting way of dispensing Beer 🍻. Have yet to see that method. Have the train 🚂 on Sunday. Enjoy the weekend. Slainte 🍺

In light of StarGazers return yesterday & a bunch of new folks: Elizabeth, BabyBoomer58, JusttoChat I thought I would revive the ‘ Ole Virginia Friends thread. Hopefully with these new folks we can bring it back to life. What do you think? Slainte 🍀🍻
