Variations - Words edition...

I hope I did it right 🙈 (in ode to my dad, happy Father’s Day)

Sultans of Swing reminds me of you
The car, your laugh, your tapping hand
That song still feels like something true
Sultans of Swing reminds me of you
The chords still do what words can’t do
They bring you back, just like we planned
Sultans of Swing reminds me of you
The car, your laugh, your tapping hand

That's fantastic! And yes, you did it right

Some would call them lovers,
but I call them friends.
Truth is, I lie alone beneath the covers.
Some would call them lovers,
the thought of that makes me shudder -
I never learned to swim in the deeper ends.
Some would call them lovers,
but I call them friends.
So thoughtful and insightful, love it

Watching someone sexy shed their clothes
Slowly uncovering, revealing more
What's visible next, I don't know
Watching someone sexy shed their clothes
As more is removed, excitement grows
The clothes moving from on her to the floor
Watching someone sexy shed their clothes
Slowly uncovering, revealing more

Slowly uncovering, revealing more
Thank you….I'm flattered 😁

Dad, thinking of you makes me smile.
All the laughter, games, music, and fun.
Please stay with me for a long while.
Dad, thinking of you makes me smile.
Playing the guitar in your own easy style,
Grilling outside and soaking up the sun
Dad, thinking of you makes me smile.
All the laughter, games, music, and fun.

Water, calms my life
Whether pool, lake, or ocean, I float
Outside world rife with strife
Water, calms my life
When hotter, slide in slow be an otter
Don't bake, be cool, it's my potion
Water, calms my life
Nearly got it!

@Saltfountain - thank you for this thread and for teaching us (me!) new things, and letting us get creative.

Because of this week's prompt, I wrote a triolet poem for my dad and put it in his card.

You chose to be my father
When I was just a child
I never needed another
You chose to be my father
And I became your daughter
Even if I was a little wild
You chose to be my father

When I was just a child

I don't have time at all today
to sit and write some verse
particularly not a triolay
not even time to sit and play
a game of words on Lit today
I dont have time at all today
to sit and write some verse
Damn, that was close!
