And yes, in our case it is also used only on me - my partner does enjoy pain, just not this kind.

I agree about the classic single-wheel vs. the 5-wheel. Although the 5-wheel looks more intimidating, it's less intense than the single wheel, and for the reason you stated -- the pressure is distributed through all 5 wheels, and the effect is to lessen the pin-point intensity overall.
