Wow, humanity must have really improved or something. This place is just vacant.
Improvement is highly doubtful.

Agreed, human beings have been horrible to each other for thousands of years. Why would they be capable of changing their ways?Improvement is highly doubtful.
They/we are capable. That is the depressing part. While we all are still in our adolescent milennia we will continue with the tirades that we are misunderstood, know everything and yet understand very little.Agreed, human beings have been horrible to each other for thousands of years. Why would they be capable of changing their ways?
Hmm...this sounds like it could turn depressing.
*Poors self a glass of Vermouth*

Is that not what adolescents do? Rail against figure heads and clamor for popularity while holding apron strings just out of sight?
Hi Nina - I'm back from a long absence yet I see your eloquence and ability to distil things into sensible thoughts that anyone can understand has not deserted you. Worth coming to Hell for I think.
Oblivious to what's going on around me I sit down and pull a hacksaw out of my jacket.
"Clearly a misunderstanding. These things happen."
I strip the teeth off the hacksaw almost immediately as I try to saw the chain off. I toss the piece of junk aside and begin working on the lock with a set of picks.
"Does one of you have a key?"
-smiles-
A key? To precisely which predicament would you like a key?
-smiles darker-
I could just heat the metal for you.

You would think I would be an expert on such things. But even more sadly, I am not.I often wonder about how sadistic, adolescent-minded people with delusions of entitlement feel about not getting their way. Such a being must have an immense load of mental processes to blind them from a reality they continue to run from. Sad.
Even the subtlest clicking noises associated with opening a door might drive them mad with memories of how much deceit they have to maintain to mentally persist.
Just descending deeper into an evermore claustrophobic pit that bears the exact appearance of their regular life.
To those poor souls...
*Raises glass and takes a sip*
"There I am minding my own business, definitely not stomping on puppies, and bam! I'm here."
I break the pick off in the lock and scowl.
"Wouldn't the heating thing ... you know ... hurt?"
-purrrs-peeks in the room, giggling
"Dont buy the puppies bit."
Leans closer
"Hurt?... Only where the metal touches you."
"I said not stomping on puppies. NOT. I wasn't do anything else either. Clearly this is a misunderstanding and somebody with a key and NOT fire needs to come fix it."
Grabbing the chain I start to drag the weight away from Nina, but only succeed in making an eight inch long trench in the ground before dropping it again. I turn my eyes upwards.
"Hello? Mistake? Yes? You can come down and let me out now!"
-laughs... long and sweetly watching him drag his cares-
Whom, exactly are you talking to darlin?
You would think I would be an expert on such things. But even more sadly, I am not.
"I saw no one drag you, love.""Whoever dragged me down here."
I looked back at Nina and look her up and down for a moment without meaning to.
"Not that the company is bad. I just don't belong down here. I've been good."
That's wonderful Nina, but unfortunately somewhere, someone does and for whatever reason I can't help but think of them right now.
It must be horrible on a person to wait as the closest people to them slowly turn on them and begin converting the everyday "hellos", "goodbyes", inside jokes, and other greetings perceived as typical to that one person's life into codewords to talk bad about them behind their back.
What happens to that one person's mind as they begin to mentally blur the definition between friend and adversary, down and up, real and unreal?
If perception creates reality then they just spiral deeper and deeper.
Heartbreaking...truly heartbreaking.
*Rhythmically taps glass in 4/4 timing*
"I saw no one drag you, love."
"Though... Here you are, now."
-licks teeth, nearly counting the chaines every link-
"No, I think you gifted me with a treat you think I cannot refuse... You... or someone... Someone I should thank?"
I pull at my collar in sitcom style.
"I'm not here on purpose. I didn't come down here chained up just for you, that's absurd."
I turn to run, but suddenly trip as I'm still shackled.
-delighted giggles, absolutely delighted giggles echo from every surface of the room-
Mhmm.... absurd.
-sinks down to sit exactly where the chain is stuck in the floor and fingers metal links and feels them grow warmer-
Did you know the fires down hear lick cloth, nearly perfectly. And that the smell of sweat is greatly appealing when it's twinged in ever so slightly by fear. Not that you're experiencing any fear at all, because you didnt bring yourself here, you're not baiting me.
Something else you might not know is my great fascination for creating links of chain. OR the appearance thereof. Little links of bitten rings forming chain on skin.
-a breath, pulled deep and ended with a yawn-
But no... You were sent here by completely by accident... right at my bed time.
I don't care which it is but only pointing out... in the end.. Your perception is making this reality and its entirely your choice as to what to do with it.
-fingers grip the chain just a bit harder. Watching even play acting sometimes makes me squirm just an inch.-"I always have had impeccable timing."
I start to back away, but realize I have no where left to go between me and the chain. I can feel the metal growing warmer against my skin and my eyes grow just a little bit wider.
"I didn't know that about the fires or how much you like chains. What are you going to do?"
...a keen observation.
*Melts into an ever growing pool of blood that occasionally forms familiar faces of people in it*
