The Heavy~Can't Play Dead

Well, hell she walk like zombie
Talk too cold
Live in a graveyard
Like the one i call home
And when she wish riger mortis
On my soul
I don't wanna tell her
But she gotta be told
Because she talk like crazy
Making my bed up
Messing with the future
When she know i got to get up
Cannot break this silence
F**k my momentum
I ain't gonna play
Because i know just where she send 'em

To the grave!
To grave!

And i say
I just can't play dead
I just can't play dead

So i got one for my money
Two for my soul
Three times, i begging
Get me outta this hole!
I see her roll her sleeve up
Lokking for a beat up
Telling you the things to feed the flavour in your ear
But when she spit that venom
Just like a viper
She evil to the core
But then she know that's what you like
Got the shit on eleven
Serving up a tension
She cooking in her kitchen
Seasoning, before she send 'em

To the grave!
To grave!

And i say
I just can't play dead
I just can't play dead

Because she talk like crazy
Making my bed up
Messing with the future
When she know i got to get up
Cannot break this silence
F**k my momentum
I ain't gonna play
Because she send 'em

To the grave!
To grave!

Like i said
I just can't play dead
I just can't play dead

Make our escape, you're my own Papillon
The worlds turns too fast
Feel love before it's gone

It kicks like a sleep twitch
My Papillon, feel love when it's shone

Darling, just don't put down your guns yet
If there really was a God here
He'd have raised a hand by now
Now, darling, you're born, get old, and die here
That's quite enough for me
We'll find our own way home somehow

No sense of doubt, or what you could achieve
I found you out, I've seen the life you wish to leave
Well, it kicks like a sleep twitch
You will choke, choke on the air you try to breathe

Darling, just don't put down your guns yet
If there really was a God here
He'd have raised a hand by now
Now, darling, you're born, get old, and die here
Well, that's quite enough for me, dear
We'll find our own way home somehow

It kicks like a sleep twitch
It kicks like a sleep twitch

Right now I'm listening to my "Smile, dammit" list on Spotify. It contains some of Björk's happy songs, as well as B-52's, Melanie, and T-Rex. :)

I just listened to this. . .interesting, I liked the very end. I wonder what the non-acoustic version sounds like.

Does anyone have a favorite portable machine or sound system that they love to stream their music? I've tried a Sound-dock by Bose (?) , but I found the bluetooth really distorted the sound.

It's too early in the day and I have been more focused on background music to share a song that has grabbed my attention. I'll share when I have one.

(I actually enjoy listening to a variety of podcasts while I drive, workout or do house tasks. But, I definitely love music, too.)

Love Runs Out - OneRepublic

I'll be your light, your match, your burning sun,
I'll be the bright, in black that's makin' you run.
And we'll feel alright, and we'll feel alright,
'Cause we'll work it out, yeah we'll work it out.

I'll be doin' this, if you had a doubt,
'Til the love runs out, 'til the love runs out.

I'll be your ghost, your game, your stadium.
I'll be your fifty-thousand clapping like one.
And I feel alright, and I feel alright,
'Cause I worked it out, yeah I worked it out.

I'll be doin' this, if you had a doubt,
'Til the love runs out, 'til the love runs out.

I got my mind made up, man, I can't let go.
I'm killing every second 'til it saves my soul.
(Ooh) I'll be running, (Ooh) I'll be running,
'Til the love runs out, 'til the love runs out.
And we'll start a fire, and we'll shut it down,
'Til the love runs out, 'til the love runs out.

There's a maniac out in front of me.
Got an angel on my shoulder, and Mestopheles.
but mama raised me good, mama raised me right.
Mama said, "Do what you want, say prayers at night,"
And I'm saying them, 'cause I'm so devout.
'Til the love runs out, 'til the love runs out, yeah.

Oh, we all want the same thing.
Oh, we all run for something.
run for God, for fate,
For love, for hate,
For gold, for rust,
For diamonds, for dust.

I'll be your light, your match, your burning sun,
I'll be the bright, in black that's makin' you run.

I'll be your light, your match, your burning sun,
I'll be the bright, in black that's makin' you run.
And we'll feel alright, and we'll feel alright,
'Cause we'll work it out, yes, we'll work it out.
And we'll start a fire, and we'll shut it down,
'Til the love runs out, 'til the love runs out.
'Til the love runs out.

Ah, yeah, Tom Smith has a different kind of voice. Bands like Editors and Interpol are ones that seem to be kind of polarizing - you either like them or you hate them. And I dunno. I just have an iPod dock but I usually end up listening to stuff on my laptop. I'm on it all the time for school, anyway. Maybe somebody else has a different opinion. I'd like a nicer one but I just wouldn't use it enough to justify getting it.

Double post, but I don't care!

"Like Real People Do" - Hozier

I had a thought, dear
However scary
About that night
The bugs and the dirt
Why were you digging?
What did you bury
Before those hands pulled me
From the earth?

I will not ask you where you came from
I will not ask you and neither should you

Honey just put your sweet lips on my lips
We should just kiss like real people do

I knew that look dear
Eyes always seeking
Was there in someone
That dug long ago
So I will not ask you
Why you were creeping
In some sad way I already know

I will not ask you where you came from
I will not ask you and neither should you

Honey just put your sweet lips on my lips
We should just kiss like real people do

Yes, that one is great too! :) Really I love all of their songs.

Another favorite of mine Gods Away on Business by Tom Waits: http://youtu.be/U5X4N2exOsU

I love their songs, too! I really like Tom Waits as well.

"Imitosis" - Andrew Bird

He's keeping busy
Yeah he's bleeding stones
With his machinations and his palindromes
It was anything but hear the voice
anything but hear the voice
It was anything but hear the voice
That says that we're all basically alone

Poor Professor Pynchon had only good intentions
When he put his Bunsen burners all away
And turning to a playground in a Petri dish
Where single cells would swing their fists
At anything that looks like easy prey
In this nature show that rages every day
It was then he heard his intuition say

We were all basically alone
And despite what all his studies had shown
That what's mistaken for closeness
Is just a case for mitosis
And why do some show no mercy
While others are painfully shy
Tell me doctor can you quantify
He just wants to know the reason, the reason why

Why do they congregate in groups of four
Scatter like a billion spores
And let the wind just carry them away?
How can kids be so mean?
Our famous doctor tried to glean
As he went home at the end of the day
In this nature show that rages every day
It was then he heard his intuition say

We were all basically alone
Despite what all his studies had shown
That what's mistaken for closeness
Is just a case of mitosis
Sure fatal doses of malcontent through osmosis
And why do some show no mercy
While others are painfully shy
Tell me doctor, can you quantify?
The reason why

Primitive Radio Gods - Standing Outside A Broken Phone Booth With Money In My Hand

Jan lays down and wrestles in her sleep
Moonlight spills on comic books
And superstars in magazines
An old friend calls and tells us where to meet
Her plane takes off from Baltimore
And touches down on Bourbon Street

We sit outside and argue all night long
About a god we've never seen
But never fails to side with me
Sunday comes and all the papers say
Ma Teresa's joined the mob
And happy with her full time job

Do do do do doo do

Am I alive or thoughts that drift away
Does summer come for everyone
Can humans do as prophets say
And if I die before I learn to speak
Can money pay for all the days I lived awake
But half asleep

Do do do do doo do x 2

A life is time, they teach us growing up
The seconds ticking killed us all
A million years before the fall
You ride the waves and don't ask where they go
You swim like lions through the crest
And bathe yourself on zebra flesh

I've been downhearted baby
I've been downhearted baby
Ever since the day we met

The Roots - The Seed 2.0

[Verse 1: Black Thought]
Knocked up 9 months ago
And what she gonna have she don't know
She want neo-soul, this hip-hop is old
She don't want no rock'n'roll
She want platinum or ice or gold
She want a whole lot of somethin' to fold
If you a obstacle she just drop ya cold
'cause one monkey don't stop the show
Little Mary is bad
In these streets she done ran
Ever since when the heat began
I told the girl look here
Calm down I'm gonna hold your hand
To enable you to keep the plan
'cause you is quick to learn
And we can make money to burn
If you allow me the latest game
I don't ask for much, but enough room to spread my wings
And the world gonna know my name

[Verse 2: Cody Chesnutt]
I don't ask, for much these days
And I don't bitch, and whine, if I don't get my way
I only wanna fertilize another behind my lover's back
I sit and watch it grow roots standin' where I'm at
Fertilize another behind my lover's back
And I'm keepin' my secrets mine

I push my seed in her bush for life
It's gonna work because I'm pushin' it right
If Mary dropped my baby girl tonight
I would name her Rock'N'Roll

[Verse 3: Black Thought]
Uh-huh
Cadillac needs space to roam
Where we heading for she don't know
We in the city where the pros shake rattle and roll
And I'm a gaddang rollin' stone
I don't beg I can hold my own
I don't break I can hold the chrome
And this weighin' a ton and I'm a son of a gun
My code name is The Only One and Black Thought is bad
These streets he done ran ever since when the game began
I never played the fool
Metter of fact I be keepin' it cool
Since money been changing hands
And I'm left to shine, but the legacy I leave behind
be the seed that'll keep the flame
I don't ask for much but enough room to spread these wings
And the world gonna know my name

[Verse 4: Cody Chesnutt]
I don't beg
From no rich man
And I don't scream, and kick, when his shit don't fall in my hands, man
'cause I know how to steal
Fertilize another against my lover's will
I lick the opposition cause she don't take no pill
Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-no dear
You'll be keeping my legend alive

I push my seed in her bush for life
It's gonna work because I'm pushin' it right
If Mary dropped my baby girl tonight
I would name her Rock'N'Roll
Oh-ooh break it down, break it down, break down beat

[break]
I push my seed somewhere deep in her chest
I push it naked 'cause I've taken my test
Deliver it Mary, it don't matter the sex
I'm gonna name it rock and roll
I push my seed in her bush for life
It's gonna work because I'm pushin it right
If Mary drop my baby girl, tonight
I would name her Rock-N-Roll
I would name her Rock-N-Roll
I would name her Rock-N-Roll yeah
I would name it Rock-N-Roll

"Robbers" - The 1975

She had a face straight outta magazine
God only knows but you'll never leave her
Her balaclava is starting to chafe
And when she gets his gun he's begging, "Babe, stay, stay, stay, stay, stay."

I'll give you one more time
We'll give you one more fight
Said one more line
Will I know you

Now if you never shoot, you'll never know
And if you never eat, you'll never grow
You've got a pretty kind of dirty face
And when she's leaving your home she's begging you, "Stay, stay, stay, stay, stay."

I'll give you one more time
We'll give you one more fight
Said one more line
Be a riot, 'cause I know you

Well, now that you've got your gun
It's much harder now the police have come
Now I'll shoot him if it's what you ask
But if you just take off your mask
You find out everything's gone wrong

Now everybody's dead
And they're driving past my old school
He's got his gun, he's got his suit on
She says, "Babe, you look so cool, you look so cool, you look so cool, cool, cool, cool
You look so cool, you look so cool, you look so cool, cool, cool, cool, cool."

(This video was both unbelievably stupid and fucking hot, I don't understand it.)

"Wishing Wells" - The Colourist

Let’s start this world
Let’s leave this town
Let’s pack our bags and head for the hills
I can see it now
I can’t tell you how
‘til the sun goes down
but I can feel it in my roots
That it’s all clear now

They keep on tugging and tugging this rope
Let it all fall out
I’m leaving on a spot of goodluck, spot of goodluck
You can’t stop me now

I found the beat to your heart
And I’ve been dancing to it night and day
We’ve already gone this far
So let’s take it to the next day

I’m sick of hearing what if, what if
Just follow what you’re feeling for
If you don’t know what you’re looking for
Just follow what you feel, just follow what you feel

Let’s take a walk
Down this empty street
Well, the ones was light but now that it’s not
It’s just you and me

Don’t listen to a word that you’ve been told
‘cause I can tell you too
We’ll leave into a land of wishing wells, land of wishing wells
token for two

I found the beat to your heart
And I’ve been dancing to it night and day
We’ve already gone this far
So let’s take it to the next day

I’m sick of hearing what if, what if
Just follow what you’re feeling for
If you don’t know what you’re looking for
Just follow what you feel, just follow what you feel

I’m sick of hearing what if, what if
Just follow what you’re feeling for
If you don’t know what you’re looking for
Just follow what you feel, just follow what you feel

I don’t, I don’t know you very well
Soon I’ll found out who you really are

I don’t, I don’t know you very well
Soon I’ll found out who you really are

I don’t, I don’t know you very well
Soon I’ll found out who you really are

I don’t, I don’t know you very well
Soon I’ll found out who you really are

I’m sick of hearing what if, what if
Just follow what you’re feeling for
If you don’t know what you’re looking for
Just follow what you feel, just follow what you feel

I’m sick of hearing what if, what if
Just follow what you’re feeling for
If you don’t know what you’re looking for
Just follow what you feel, just follow what you feel

I’m sick of hearing what if, what if
