Wow, just wow to all of you. Thank you. :rose:

We never know who or how in life...

it's not the who or how. its the getting there
that gives us a hard time ... at times eh ~
Your a great gurl ~ Stay strong and be tough
even when ya feel like muck ~

a relative found a bunch of old photographs in their attic recently. my grandmother's going to go through them to see if she can figure out what any of them are. i have little to no idea what they are but it's nice to look at them. one, i've learned, is my grandmother's christening (circa 1912)... she was very young then.

it was nice seeing my uncle's old milk and garbage trucks. i also stumbled on an old handbill for my great grandfather's garage in PA... it's touted as being a fireproof garage and having reasonable prices. :D great marketing campaign.

EJ if I can add... write on the back of the pictures the who, what, where and when of it all. Ask aunts, uncles ect. I have a photo album that I was lucky enough to be able to add that info and it makes it so cool.

Great find!

thanks cate. :) i'm glad you lucked out with yours... not so sure we'll be able to, but we'll try. most of the pictures have no info on them (just a few with years written on them). oddly, one picture of cows has a note on the back, "a few of my father's cows." amazing how these people prioritized. :D

I'm chuckling here because there were similar photos in my grandmother's album too. There were photos of WW I ships and sailors, they didn't remember all the names but it was enough to feel the family bond deeper. It was also a good reminder to write on the pictures we have today.

I'll bet you grandmother is enjoying it as much, if not more, that you are.
she said she'll get into them tomorrow... i'll check with her tomorrow to see if she came up with anything. the photos aren't in very good shape and her vision is pretty poor but we'll see what she figures out.

that's my plan actually. thanks. :)

i'm going to burn a cd of the pictures of close family for my grandmother's kids. with any luck we'll be able to at least nail down the who/what/when/where of those pictures and caption them appropriately.

i also want to post a picture of my great grandfather here on lit... there's an interesting story to go along with it (which i may have told already).

christ but i'm making some fantastic reads tonight... i amaze me sometimes.

Very late last night--okay, early this morning--I watched a movie that brings back so many great memories of high school. My best friend and I saw that movie at least 5 times. I swear, we knew most of the dialog by heart, and it marked the beginning of a lifelong crush on Donald Sutherland.

which movie are you talking about? i think i have an idea but i'm not sure.

i think we're finally done moving my uncles crap from the 3 different places it wound up since we moved it last time. now i'm thoroughly exhausted (but the good kind of exhausted from doing an honest day of hard work) and i have a minor case of dome burn.

nap time in T minus 31 minutes.

The year was 1971, I was seventeen, and the movie was M*A*S*H.

Were you right?

no... i wasn't. a fantastic movie but not one i'd expect to cause someone to crush on donald sutherland from. :D

i've been writing this post for about 2 minutes now... i'm so tired i'm just kind of staring at the screen. :D

I was thinking that it might have been Animal House because of the scene with Karen Allen where you get to see his butt, but I can see where his M*A*S*H character would give you a little more crush-making material.

Oh yeah. My little adolescent heart was thoroughly charmed. *sigh*

Why can't things be that simple again?
