...very hard to argue with Yamaha's ability to turn out well-made instruments.

Agreed. My backup oboe is a Yamaha student model, but it definitely holds a candle to my Fox pro horn. Biggest diff is the Fox centers pitches a lot better, and, of course, has the pro keyworks like low Bb and the 3rd octave key. I did audition a pro Yamaha oboe, but it was nearly indistinguishable in pitch and timbre from the student model.

(Another big plus for the Fox? I was less than a day's drive to the factory. Got to audition like six instruments.)

When I was teaching I'd loan the Yamaha to students for concerts. Their school instruments were crap. I don't know why they do that - I've lost students due to unplayable school instruments.

And thank you.

For my WIP, I just became very familiar with the range of doctoral programs in Psychology, the rankings of the schools currently, what gets taught in the first year of the kind of program I taught, etc. I used maybe 10% of what I learned.

I spent an hour watching videos of black girls getting spanked to figure out if they get that “rosy glow” in their cheeks.
Spanking is not on of my kinks. I think half my time was spent deciding if her skin was too dark or too light for the character in question. 🙄
I played a paintball gun game with a black guy on the other team. I can testify that black skin will show a bruise.
