What is the differecne between dressing slutty and sexy

People have already made good distinctions. I'll just add that I'll take sexy over slutty any day. I need a little mystery and the feeling that I have to do some seducing and build some sexual tension. It helps if the woman who dresses sexy knows how to flirt effectively.

Unfortunately there is way too much emphasis in America on slut "pride" or faux sluttiness. Women that can dress and talk sexy are rare birds indeed, but they're more fun in my opinion. I already know you can have most any man; show me you can play the game and that you're worth the effort.

As much as I love sex, I never dress really slutty, which is like saying "fuck me."

I would rather wear a classy skirt and top and no underwear which says, I am available if you play your cards right.

so would people consider those gym lycra pants slutty at work?

i walked into work when two young women were bent over with tight lycra pussy looking back at me

Yes, unless one works at a gym.

They're great to look at, don't get me wrong. But they're meant to show off. Otherwise women would just wear sweat pants. I think it's weird when people dress like that outside of the gym.

Of course they enjoyed it.

My opinion is that it's not appropriate to wear to the workplace - again unless you work at a gym.

But narcissism has reached ridiculous levels, and people think it's better to show off T&A than to simply look attractive in a classic way. Look at the "selfie" epidemic.

To each his own, but my personal opinion is it's a cheap way of getting quick attention without offering any real reason why someone might find you attractive beyond that. There's a time and a place for showing off the body and getting glances, but I can find hot women anywhere. It's not original or unique. Show me something more. My $.02.

I think the definition is also driven by the attitude/perspective of the woman wearing sexy/slutty clothes.
We all want to look attractive, but there is a line between primarily doing it for ourselves or primarily doing it for others.

There is something submissive and objectifying if the goal is to project an image that is inconsistent with how I am feeling and how I am inclined to present myself. So even if my outfit isn't too risqué it feels slutty if I have chosen it for the purpose of attracting sexual attention. Conversely, if I crave the feel of a snug leather skirt that barely coves my sexy parts and a breeze over my thighs I just go with it and don't really feel slutty looking at all.

If I dress for my own enjoyment and comfort its always sexy rather than slutty.......even if I feel like being slutty as strange as that sounds.

I understand your point. However, I think the slut "pride" you are referring to like slut "walks" are not actually intended to promote sluttiness. They are intended to promote acceptance and reject judgment of our bodies.

As long as we allow society to deem what is slutty, whether it starts at the ankles or the thighs, there is an implication that it is ok to treat slutty women in a disparaging or even violent manner. Most women you see in "slut walks" don't dress that way normally. They are just doing so to make the emphatic point that it isn't acceptable for other people to impose their judgment on women simply for what they wear. You don't have to find it attractive but under NO circumstances does a woman's attire justify sexual assault and bad treatment.

In fact, most of those marchers don't promote promiscuity. They are taking back the word "slut" and showing solidarity with other women who don't wish to be judged.

Slutty vs. sexy

Just less fabric usually, lol, they both have a time and place :)

Quite simply, the difference is merely perception.

Quite right.

Funny thing is, I don't know if there is a high correlation between "slutty" attire and promiscuous behaviour.

I think this a largely unfounded stereotype because it is what we see - kind of like how we used to think all gay men were overtly effeminate and all effeminate men were gay. We assume a slut to be an insecure "bimbo" who is having sex to receive male acceptance or attention and that every woman who presents herself this way is promiscuous.

In fact, the "slutty" look is more driven by peer pressure, expectations and "style" choices of young women. The slutty looking girl may not be promiscuous at all. Meanwhile, women who really are sexually active as a matter of mature personal choice are not likely to make themselves into a walking advertisement for sex - it attracts obnoxious jerks and scares away the good men.

Looking "slutty" and being "slutty" are two different things and in my anecdotal experience the majority of promiscuous women do not fit any "slutty" looking stereotype. We attract more men by looking sexy.
