What's Your Song?

When the Stars Go Blue by Tim McGraw

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hyidx_U9k6E

Dancin' when the stars go blue
Dancin' when the evening fell
Dancin' in your wooden shoes
In a wedding gown

Dancin' out on 7th street
Dancin' through the underground
Dancin' with the marionette
Are you happy now?

Where do you go when you're lonely
Where do you go when you're blue
Where do you go when you're lonely
I'll follow you
When the stars go blue
stars go blue
stars go blue
stars go blue

Laughin' with your pretty mouth
Laughin' with your broken eyes
Laughin' with your lover's tongue
In a lullaby

Where do you go when you're lonely
Where do you go when you're blue
Where do you go when you're lonely
I'll follow you
When the stars go blue
stars go blue
stars go blue
stars go blue

From my husband to me

She's My Kind of Rain by Tim McGraw

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vbUs7u10n1E

She's my kind of rain
Like love in a drunken sky
She's confetti falling
Down all night

She sits quietly there
Like water in a jar
Says, Baby why are you
Trembling like you are

So I wait
And I try
I confess like a child

She's my kind of rain
Like love from a drunken sky
Confetti falling down all night
She's my kind of rain

She's the sun set shadows
She's like Rembrandt's light
She's the history that's made at night
She's my lost companion
She's my dreaming tree
Together in this brief eternity
Summer days, winter snows
She's all things to behold

She's my kind of rain
Like love from a drunken sky
Confetti falling down all night
She's my kind of rain

So I wait
And I try
I confess all my crimes

She's my kind of rain
Like love from a drunken sky
Confetti falling down all night
She's my kind of rain

She's my kind of rain
Like love from a drunken sky
Confetti falling down all night
She's my kind of rain

She's my kind of rain
Oh, rain on me
She's my kind of rain

Hmmmm.....
We have so many.....

If I had to pick one off the top of my head it would be Pink Floyd ~ Wish You Were Here

I have two... both by Dave Matthews Band. The lyrics would take up too much space, but the titles are: "Lover Lay Down" and "Say Goodbye" - Both of which used to tear my heart out of my chest before making the move across country to go from Long-distance to Live-in. They still make me emotional.

I understand the long distance thing. We live on opposite coasts. This song has helped me through a few long nights: I'm Already There by Lonestar.

Given my current marital situation "Love Stinks" J Geils Band and "Would I Lie to You" Eurythmics.

"Shook Me All Night Long" by Ac/Dc in the beginning of the relationship

The Next 100 Years by Bon Jovi has some great lyrics. I have been listening to Bon Jovi for 20+ years now and there isn't a mood that I can't find a Bon Jovi song to fit!

Time ain't nothing but time
It's a verse with no rhyme
Man, it all comes down to you

Change ain't nothing but change
Just the faces and the names
But you know we're gonna make it through

I'll believe
When you don't believe in anything

[Chorus:]
I'm gonna hold you 'til your hurt is gone
Be the shoulder that you're leaning on
I'll be standing here
For the next 100 years
If it all should end tonight
I'll know it was worth the fight
And we'll be standing here
For the next 100 years

I, when I think that I'm losing my mind
It all comes back to you

And you, you know that it's true
After all we've been through
There's nothing that I wouldn't do

Stand by me
And I would gladly give up everything

[Chorus:]
I'm gonna hold you 'til your hurt is gone
Be the shoulder that you're leaning on
I'll be standing here
For the next 100 years
If it all should end tonight
I'll know it was worth the fight
And we'll be standing here
For the next 100 years

I'm gonna hold you 'til your hurt is gone
Be the shoulder that you're leaning on
I'll be standing here
For the next 100 years
If it all should end tonight
I'll know it was worth the fight
And we'll be standing here
For the next 100 years

Something In the Way She Moves ~ James Taylor

There's something in the way she moves,
Or looks my way, or calls my name,
That seems to leave this troubled world behind.
And if I'm feeling down and blue,
Or troubled by some foolish game,
She always seems to make me change my mind.

Chorus:
And I feel fine anytime she's around me now,
She's around me now
Just about all the time
And if I'm well you can tell she's been with me now,
She's been with me now quite a long, long time
And I feel fine.

Every now and then the things I lean on lose their meaning
And I find myself careening
Into places where I should not let me go.
She has the power to go where no one else can find me
And to silently remind me
Of the happiness and the good times that I know, got to know.

Chorus:

It isn't what she's got to say
But how she thinks and where she's been
To me, the words are nice, the way they sound
I like to hear them best that way
It doesn't much matter what they mean
If she says them mostly just to calm me down

Chorus:

This song makes me think of how great she makes me feel.

Hang On St. Christopher

Tom Waits is a genius. Love how he arranges words .

Hang On St. Christopher

Hang on St. Christopher through the smoke and the oil
Buckle down the rumble seat
let the radiator boil
got an overhead downshift
and a two dollar grill
got an 85 cabin
on an 85 hill
hang on St. Christopher on the passenger side
open it up tonight the devil can ride

hang on St. Christopher with a barrel house dog
kick me up mt. baldy
throw me out in the fog
tear a hole in the jack pot
drive a stake through his heart
do a 100 on the grapevine
do a jump on the start

There's something in the way she moves,
Or looks my way, or calls my name,
That seems to leave this troubled world behind.
And if I'm feeling down and blue,
Or troubled by some foolish game,
She always seems to make me change my mind.

I love this part in particular.

I love this thread....I have a lot of songs that really illustrate my life.

I have a very wonderful relationship with a truly remarkable man and our song is "You Make Me Smile" by Uncle Kracker

"I'm Sorry" by Buckcherry is one that reminds me of my husband during a certain time in our lives.

"To Make You Feel My Love" by Tim McGraw and Faith Hill has always been one my husband and I share.

"Who You'd Be Today" by Kenny Chesney reminds me of my brother.

"Scars" by Papa Roach reminds me a lot of me and the path my life has taken lately.

I'm sure I have a lot more....

Five-O by James

Are you open for trade
Your salvation, for something, for some thrills
Is a body of work for your inspection
You can trace, trace my concern
My concern

I've been looking for truth
At the cost of living
I've been afraid
Of what's before mine eyes
Every answer found
Begs another question
The further you go, the less you know
The less I know

I can feel your face
Gonna make it mine
I can be the man
I see in your eyes
Can you take my weight
Are we both too small
Know each other well
We've met before

Will we grow together
Will it be a lie
If it lasts forever, hope I'm the first to die
Will you marry me, Can we meet the cost
Is the power of love worth the pain of loss
Can you pay the bill, will you keep the change
Are you here for the party, or are you here for the pain

I can feel your face
Gonna make it mine
I can be the man
I see in your eyes
Will we grow together
Will it be a lie
If it lasts forever, hope I'm the first to die
Hope I'm the first to die

Everything about this song reminds me of Red: "You Save Me" by Kenny Chesney.

Every now and then
I get a little lost
The strings all get tangled
The wires all get crossed
Every now and then
I’m right upon the edge
Danglin’ my toes out over the ledge
I just thank God you’re here

(Chorus)
When I’m a bullet shot out of a gun
When I’m a firecracker comin’ undone
When I’m a fugitive ready to run
All wild-eyed and crazy
No matter where my reckless soul takes me
Baby you save me

It’s hard lovin’ a man
That’s got a gypsy soul
I don’t know how you do it
I’m not sure how you know
The perfect thing to say
To save me from myself
You’re the angel that believes in me
Like nobody else
And I thank God you do

(Chorus)

Well I know I don’t tell you nearly enough
I couldn’t live one day without your love

When I’m a ship tossed around on the waves
Up on a high wire that’s ready to break
When I’ve had just about all I can take
Baby, you
Baby you save me
