Worst/Favourite Feedback You've Received

I'm new to publishing stories and this is my first forum post. I posted a story under the "Loving Wives" category without realising it was a tough crowd....

Within about an hour of the story appearing, it had a rating of about 1.8. I had received an inbox full of private feedback: three threats of physical harm (including being hung up like a deer and gutted), one medical assessment confirming that I had an STD, a couple of claims that I was obviously a sick mentally deficient retard (these were full of spelling errors), and a clear and concise statement that I was going to hell (I assumed this wasn't written by a deity).

Just as I was wondering what I had done, some positive feedback came through including a request to write a specific story about a lady fulfilling a lesbian fantasy which I have now willingly complied with.

I think the Loving Wives Category should come with some sort of warning for new authors (lol).

Here's the latest piece of feedback to annoy me, written on a story I wrote with a dominant transsexual-submissive male relationship.

No
Shemales chose the role of woman, they will BE the woman. They do not fuck throats and they do not fuck ass, they get fucked in the throat and ass.

Are you really trying to tell me that you know exactly what each and every transsexual person in the world wants? How incredibly presumptuous of you. Not to mention dismissive of all shemales not to assume that they are capable of as full a range of sexual preferences, kinks and fetishes as anybody else.

Confusing

I posted a thread several days ago requesting feedback on the "naughty bits" in my piece, as it was my first foray into the land of erotica. I prefaced the post by noting that I was not new to the world of writing.

I received some great, and very helpful, criticism. However, there was one that perplexed and amazed me. I have to paraphrase as I already deleted the anonymous message, but ostensibly the reply boiled down to this:

Obviously, based on the feedback I had already received, I had talent and that I posted my request as an act of shameless self promotion. Therefore, he/she gave both of my stories a one, as that person did not appreciate being manipulated.

Huh? Again, I asked for specific feedback on the sexual elements and never asked anyone to vote on my piece.

WTF?

I got this one the other day and it's really weird. It's kind of like this guy is angry with me because I might have brought out his latent gay side. Maybe he should have noticed he was in the transsexuals section!

totally gay
are you trying to turn us all into fucking queers, you fag? i got a link to this story saying it was a hot secretary fuck story and it started so well, tracy sounds so hot. but then she pulls out a cock and hes sucking on it. wtf man?! youve made us fantasise about this hottie and then told us shes really a man with a thick dick, i was still hard while i read about her fucking him with her monster cock. that shouldnt be allowed. you fags should stay in the gay porn section and not write about guys that look like hot girls. if i start to get gay thoughts after reading your queer fuck story then i'll hold you responsible and i'll come round and shove my own thick meat so far up your pretty little ass that you'll know how i feel from reading your story! gaz

I don't know how seriously to take this. Is this guy genuinely concerned about getting gay thoughts after reading this story? I like to think my story can have a bit of an impact but it's probably unlikely to turn a straight man gay! I think he's really struggling with some underlying issues here.

:rose:

*guffaws* That's my favorite one so far. I'd love to write a story about how a porn story turned him queer and he turned into an insatiable self-loathing cock whore. Man, what a great jumping off point for a story!

Speaking of loving those gay twists, this is an actual comment to my story Farm Hands. Bear in mind it's posted in Gay Male and it is indeed about gay males. Gay males having the gay sex.

"it is too gay"

Ohhhhhhkaaaaay....

I left the comment up because it tickles me pink. Of all the things to object to, it's a gay story that's too gay. I don't even know how you'd make it "less gay". Or why.

The second least helpful or constructive was this one for my story Just Desserts:

"I couldn't make it past the 4th paragraph. If it got better I guess I missed it but what I read turned me off immediately."

I found myself wondering, rather irritatedly, why anyone would comment on a story he/she didn't read past the first four paragraphs. Then I wondered why I was irritated. I mean, clearly the person posting that was looking for a quick stroke, and my story didn't get right into the fucking fast enough. Sorry 'bout that.

That was the feedback that made me realize that I write for me. I like my stories. I get off writing my stories and I get off reading my stories. If you get off to my stories too, that's fucking awesome. If not, I'm sure there's bound to be something in these millions of stories that does it for you. I can't make you love me...:D

I am also new to publishing on Literotica, and this is my first time posting in the forums.

I love all of the positive comments I get from people. Especially since its my first time publicly posting anything its lightweight amazing that people actually like it.

What I don't dig is people judging my characters actions. I got this one (and some others like it) that kind of rubbed me the wrong way...

"I'm struggling to understand Nicole's character! Seriously, WTF!? What could she possibly love about a guy who's cheating on her every chance he gets and calls her a "bitch" when she's legitimately pissed. If I were Justin, I would not be quick to get serious about a woman like that unless she figures her sh*t out first."

It probably annoyed me, because I pretty much wrote the character Tony in my story "34 Minutes" straight from life (my ex), and I felt like the comment took a jab at not only me, but any woman who's been in a less than stellar relationship and stuck through it. Lol, maybe I was just being sensitive tho. I just kind of felt that how she felt about my characters mental validity had little to do with the story... pointless criticism.

I'm very lucky in that I've never had any genuinely bad feedback. The only one remotely so was an email that said "thanks for your story about plastic creatures in a fucked-up world without the meat of life." To which I thought, hurrah! I am Brett Easton Ellis!

One of these days, I'm going to write me a Loving Wives story just for the fun of it.

I hadn't realized how truly venomous the feedback over there can get. Naturally, I thought of writing something myself. Y'know, 'cause I CAN.

*cackles*

Actually, that has everything to do with your story and this is because:

1) You want your characters to be plausible. Sure, we're writing erotic fantasy but we're also asking people to invest in our story and for that, they need to think it could happen. If somebody says "why would your character do that?" then you must either accept that people are going to question that character's actions - because they are questionable - or go back and re-write.

2) A strong reaction to a story or character is usually a good thing. If you can provoke something in a reader then that is positive (unless it's "this is the biggest pile of bear excrement I've ever read," of course).

3) Now I haven't read your story, but just going on that one point of criticism: we all use real-life inspiration but when you pour it into a story then you need to fit it to a story arc. If Nicole really does put up with a verbally abusive serial cheater, time and time again, then of course a reader is going to get pissed with her. They're waiting for the pay-off and the happy ending. There are ways to subvert this rule but the reader must be able to find other worthy things within the story.

Reality has been more implausible than fiction; maybe a disclaimer at the beginning or end of the story would've cleared up some things.

Loving Wifes

Love that category simply because of the really pissed off feedback I get when I submit a bdsm oriented story to that category. Some of the most bible thumping outright venomous feedback has come from that. It is too laugh.

I got one sounding pissed that I haven't published a third chapter to one of my stories. Considering the second chapter had next to no views (got lost in the shuffle), I find it amusing.

Interesting Feedback

It's been quite entertaining reading this thread. Sounds like there are many trolls roaming around Literotica. I just joined and have only posted two stories, both to the Humor/Satire section. The first story did okay ratings-wise and had an interesting comment, but the second one, a piece called "The First Time I had the Buttsex", had a couple trolls, rather vicious ones too, and both anonymous (of course). Here they are, in all their glory....

"No more posting.

You can't write."

Ouch!

"Are you 12?

Does your mom know you are on here? This is such crap that I cant even begin to describe how horrible it is. You and your "wiener" need to learn how to write an actual story."

Damn, that one was pissed! I guess my use of the word wiener really offended him/her. Possibly even more than the story itself.

It's kinda funny in a way, that people would lash out like this, especially on a free site. But it's also kinda sad too. How pathetic does someone have to be to hide behind an anonymous comment and trash another's art? Especially when it's in the humor section and all the writer was trying to do is provide folks with a laugh.

I'll still post more stuff here, though. No cowardly anonymous trolls are gonna scare me off!

As a girl I love getting feedback from men who pick stories out of the Romance category, read them, and send me private feedback. 'How sweet are you?' I want to say to them.
True, the story (called "Used") is horribly miscategorized, but still-- they didn't know when they opened it that my little lady would be banging two guys back to back.
And I did get a few invitations to "chat".

Even better, though, is the feedback I get from other women who fucking hate the character based on my ex-boyfriend. Ha. Ha. Ha. I want to email those comments to him.

Although, to be honest, I am just happy to see votes and comments on the stories, which despite high view counts, don't get a lot of response. I am tempted to write something Loving Wives to spawn a comment war, but I am thin skinned (so I am lucky not to be bringing any worst comments-- I haven't gotten any hurtful comments-- it does seem like a lot of negative flame comments are aimed at male writers-- though I'm probably generalizing.

I've received mostly favorable comments...

One, though, stuck out: "No info...? No vote."

My profile at the time had no info about me at all. I didn't understand what my personal info(or lack thereof)had to do with voting on something I wrote.

People can be strange. /shrug.

Oh, and I had a bot spam my story in the comment area. That irked me and I deleted it. Only one I've deleted thus far.

I also got emailed a couple of times about my story's 'lack of sex' up to this point. It's a slow starting tale - an ACTUAL story - and I don't feel as if I ought to be rushed to write the smut if it hasn't gotten to that point yet.

Just my two cents.

Ginnnnnnna!

My best feedback: You made me cry.

My worst feedback: You're a helllbound sinner, join our church.

My conclusion: Some people should re-read the Roman Road section of their New Testaments a bit more closely and check out the part about "pearls before swine." Oink. Oink.

My worst feedback: You're a helllbound sinner, join our church.

Jeez, why are you so special? No one's ever tried to 'save' me.

I wonder if that particular church sanctions reading the work of sinners in order to convert them. (Mormons might travel the world prosthelytizing, but screw that-- if you can win converts by trolling literotica.com, why go through the hassle of getting a passport?)

I dunno. It was about 7 months ago. The idiot said that the female sexual revolution was a conspiracy by the illuminati and we were all hellbound degradation heathens. I think enough people complained about the spamnation to the powers that be at Lit that it got its IP banned.

I'd take this as an extreme compliment - hell is where all the deviants go. Why would I want to spend my so-called afterlife with a bunch of prudes in 'heaven'? :D

I've been getting only good feedback for a while. I don't mean to sound ungrateful for the positive feedback, but it's a little boring without the occasional unreasonably irate lunatic to mix things up. Like this guy:

About the submission: Rumours
This feedback was sent by: Anonymous (of course!)
Comments: you should have a nail jammed up your dick, you sick perv. you should go to jail and have some inmates force-fuck you. die and rot in hell, you dirty son of a bitch. i hope your little sister cuts your cock off and makes you choke to death on it. P.S. your disclaimer is too light for the story.

He loved me so much, he sent me a sequel...

Comments: i sent you feedback before and thought you were a guy. let me correct my mistakes. you are a bitch, i hope you like almost scaring people out of sex, cause thats what you did. i hope your brother reads your sick story and decides to act it out on you. i hope he paints your womb with your own blood. i hope he tears your ass and pussy open with his bare hands. you should be screwed to death by a horse. die and rot in hell, you bitchy whore. P.S. your the reason rapists make innocent little girls cry.

Oh wow, I just noticed that he originally commented on the first chapter of Rumours, but his second comment was in response to the followup chapter. Now I'm confused as to whether he just read part two to confirm that I still deserved to have a nail jammed up my dick, or if he really enjoyed both stories and this was just his way of flirting...
