Ye Olde S33k & Finde

*Shares her smile softly* Maybe I need some music. Or a punching bag. Or both. *chuckle*

"Or maybe what you need is another hug," her voice came from the open doorway as she quietly moved into the interior of his shop, striding around the counter of his work shop area, coming closer as she slid her arms around him, giving him a tight warm hug. She kissed his cheek and whispered in his ear, "Blame this on Milady Thyri. She started it."

*He couldn't help but smile again as he saw another familiar face enter the shop. Perhaps his mood wouldn't stick around as long as he thought. Her embrace was warm, and he hugged her back with the same warmth, hearing her voice tickle against his ear*

Ah, so you wouldn't hug me if not for her then, eh?

*A sly grin crosses his face*

She leaned back in his arms, her eyes twinkling before she gently kissed the tip of his nose.

"Now don't go putting words into my mouth, Fr33k. I didn't say that." ;)

*A soft chuckle escaped his lips* Don't worry, I won't put any words in your mouth. Especially when there are so many other things that would be more pleasant....

*A light kiss finds itself on her cheek as well, his hands loosely holding her now*

"Such a tease." She grinned, winked and let her hands lightly rest on his arms for a moment before she stepped back.

"I'll let you get back to dealing with stuff. Milady Thyri said I needed to pass on the hugs so there you go. I need to get back to writing. A certain elf is fishing for something from Elana and I am about to see that he gets it." Another wink, a quick kiss and she is away again.

*He smirked at her comment, nodding when she moved away*

Thanks for the brief reprieve. *Checks the time and decides it's probably time to get ready for work*

Excerpt from a gilded poetry book. Row 83, Third Shelf.

I'm a statue cast in stone, a marble pure and white as bone. I'm full of strength and power, but even steel will snap when pressed hard enough. I'm a tower shaped from bronze, a brass embodiment of stability. I'm full of vim and vigor, but even nuclear engines break down after time. I'm just a fractured marble, broken arrow, rusted ring of what was meant to be a circuit. I'm just a tattered flag, frayed banner, tarnished armor for someone who was meant for greater things.

I want to be the support, to be the foundation, to be the carrier of weight, but I'm just not sure this cracked form is capable. I want to be the beacon, be the savior, be the hero, but I'm just not sure I've got what it takes. So, as time erodes me, I will keep attempting to play Atlas. Perhaps I will hold the world on my shoulders, not bending the knee to forces beyond comprehension. And perhaps I will become nothing more than a pile of rubble marking the passage of eons.

*Today's tinkering had a darker tone. The parts were cast in obsidian metal, black on black construction that for most would be difficult to assemble properly. His expert fingers manipulated the pieces easily, and his brows furrowed with both ire and concentration as bit by bit the construct took shape. It was a humanoid figure, cloaked in a patchwork robe. The pieces flowed like wings, but still held their geometric shapes as they slid across each other, like dragon's scales. The actual wings the figure had were far more skeletal, an abominable caricature of wings, vestigial bones spreading like a dark halo around the figure's hooded head. As he clicked the last piece into place, a set of crimson eyes flashed and began glowing beneath the hood. With a grinding and whirring, the figure moved about, getting its bearings and stretching its new limbs. It glanced up at him and bared a smile that was more feral than anything human, sharp rows of teeth gleaming. He returned the smile and between forefinger and thumb, he handed it the instrument of its implementation: a small scythe, fashioned from what appeared to be blackened bone. The blade was stark steel, keen as a razor. The tiny figure swung the scythe, the minuscule whistle of its weapon barely cutting through the noise of the shop. It smiled again and stalked off toward the edge of the counter, leaping down the distance, that must have been like a cliff to it. The landing was silent, and it wandered off into the stacks, presumably to terrorize the other clockwork creatures. He cracked his knuckles and leaned back on his stool, watching the sun filter through the skylight impassively, hands behind his head. His eyes drifted closed eventually, though he was still quite awake*

*gentle fingers curl over the tops of his shoulders as thumbs press between his shoulder blades, searching out knots of tension. The rest of her materializes behind him*

*His hands move from behind his head, allowing her better access to his shoulders, which are indeed knotted with tension and stress. His eyes don't open, but he can guess who is there; a small smile curves his lips upward*

Still in a black mood, my dear or are things getting better?

More of a dull gray...but we will see what today brings. At the very least, I have today and tomorrow off from work.

Her hands kept working out the knots. "That will hopefully help and a dull gray is better than black. Less stressful." *nod*

*He could feel the clumps in his muscles squishing around before dissipating; his head lolled forward as she kept working*

Less stressful after I figure out just what we're moving of my new landlord's crap so we can put our stuff into the apartment that still needs cleaned...

"Well," she came around from behind and perched on a corner of his counter, "my positive thoughts are with you that matters resolve quickly but if they don't," she leaned closer to whisper, "I gave Nina a new shovel and some barbed wire. My rose garden can use some fertilizer. No one would ever know. Body? What body?" ;)

*His smile broadens and his eyes finally open*

You probably shouldn'tve given Nina anything sharp and pointy...she's dangerous, you know.

*He cannot suppress his laughter at the thought*

A very wicked grin crossed her lips. "Oh I know." She gave him another wink, pulling back again, "I haven't even dropped off my latest present for her. Got it off some dude." She didn't explain how she had gotten it off him. On purpose.

Giving gifts from strangers? That's an even more dangerous proposition...ah, well you two can handle yourselves...

"And satisfaction brought him back." *His brow remained quirked, though it gave him an odd asymmetry in facial features*

"How many lives you got left, Fr33K? " She grinned, swinging her legs lightly from her perch on his counter.
