Hi all, glad to see lady_kat here and RJ too. Richard although I am female I have never had a UTI and I hope I never get one. Hope you start to feel better soon :rose:

Master had His angiogram on Tuesday and they found some blockages in the arteries so He will need either stents or bypass surgery. I am hoping for the stents as it is less invasive, though it will mean more than one stay in the hospital it will only be for overnight as opposed to several days. We have the follow up appointment with the cardiologist next Wednesday morning, will keep you posted :)

It wasn't my turn to make the coffee was it??? ;)

hey bandit
I have had angiograms
angioplastic
and by pass
and of course now I have my appliance (the bionics)

If I had know in 1992 what I know now
I would have none of this

I have not had a UTI since VN
Do not want another believe me

I am surprised that they didn't insert the stents during the angioplasty, I have 4 Stents, and they were all done at different times, but in connection with an angioplasty. Having to go back in to install stents requires another.

I have never had a bypass, I do have a pacer/defib device, and I am in need of a heart transplant, I am on the list and follow a huge pharmacological discipline. (about 38 pills daily, and up to 70 after transplant)

I have a right heart catherazation done every 3 months to monitor pressures inside my heart. Luclkily they do that with a swan device, it goes through the neck, and not the groin, you can leave the hospital in a half an hour after the procedure.

Ruchard, if we all knew then what we do now, all of us would have made huges changes the second time around.

As I would think Richard would agree, live every day for the most, don't sweat the small stuff, and if you have people that you can say I love you to, make sure they hear you say it. Be grateful for what you have, look in the paper, the obituaries are filled with people not so lucky!

I had someone who read this thread and has
some heart problems post me a while back
and I did not lose the post some where

they (female) posted me at my yahoo account

if you are still around please repost me
and accept my apology

Master has many other health problems besides the heart - renal failure and diabetes being the main ones. His cardiologist is familiar with the treatments for people on dialysis. The heart problems were only discovered when He was undergoing tests to see if He would be eligible for a kidney transplant. This has now been put on hold until His heart is sorted out.

I'm not sure why they did not do stents at the time of the angiogram  Maybe there were too many to be done at once. The doctor we spoke to at the hospital said they probably would not do them all at once anyway.

I know what you mean about the pills, Master takes quite a few daily most of which are phosphate blockers every time He eats and others to help His tummy (He has hiatus hernia). Two types of blood pressure meds and a cholesterol reducer, plus insulin twice a day by injection. He has a steroid injection (EPO) once a week to help build up red blood cells to prevent anaemia. He used to take painkillers but they upset His tummy so now He relies on that funny green stuff you smoke ;) He's on home dialysis on a machine for 10 hours every night.

We are grateful to have each other. "I love you" is said many times a day  We take each day as it comes.

Here's hoping you get your new heart soon :rose:

Insideyourmind, I sure agree with U about living every day for the most and not sweating the small stuff. now if i could just practice the sentiment *smile*

Thank you!

Thank you Richard and thank you everyone else for your kind
words. My daughter is home, though in a lot of pain and she
mostly sleeps as she's on pain meds. Hopefully in a few days
she will need the meds less and less. They told me I can still
send her to school though on Monday, so that's a good sign.

Once again, thank you.

I'll take a brownie and I am glad you are having a good week Kat :)

I brought some specialty coffee with a slight carmel flavor to it its brewing now. If you would be so kind to serve out the brownies and coffee Kat I am sure we could enjoy a little hookie celebration.

I hope your feeling up to a little hookie Richard grinz.

I just finished making plans with my youngest for halloween this year. This year's project is called bleeding brain. A brain mold with jello and rasberry jam. Should be totaly gross and yummy.

how us blondies win an argument

I just couldn't help my self

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Diary,

Last year I replaced all the windows in my house with those expensive double pane energy efficient kind. But this week, I got a call from the contractor who installed them last year, complaining, that the work had been completed a whole year ago and I hadn't paid for them.

Boy oh boy, did we go around!! Just because I'm blonde doesn't mean that I am automatically stupid.

So, I proceeded to tell him just what his fast talking sales guy had
told me last year, namely, that in the one year the windows would pay for themselves.

There was silence on the other end of the line, so I just hung
up....and I have not heard back.

Guess I won that stupid argument.

Hi Lady Kat and RJ!

Brownies and caramel coffee? Kewl! Mind if I join?

I love the cool things you can make for Halloween too!

Last year my kids and I made a graveyard banana pudding thing with ground up Oreos for dirt.

One year I was invited to a Voodoo party. It was an adult thing. I made this wonderful baked artichoke heart dish which I learned now to make from my French, Sicilian Grandmother in New Orleans. However for fun, I molded it into a she male voodoo doll, placed it in a bloody looking pool of red sauce and tooth picked the poor thing ALL over!

Great story about the windows Kat!

Popping in to update as promised :)

We saw the cardiologist on Wednesday and were told that Master has one small artery completely blocked and another larger one 70-80% blocked. They want to put a stent in that one, because if they leave it and it blocks completely He could have a very bad heart attack. This will be happening in the next 2-3 weeks, with 1-2 days in hospital. They want to leave a bypass as a last resort considering all His other health problems.

He's now taking low dose aspirin and another blood thinner called Plavix. He'll need to take the Plavix for a few months afterwards and may be able to eventually stop it, but the aspirin will be a permanent part of the meds from now on. I worry, because my dad was on Warfarin and it either directly or indirectly caused the brain bleed which led to his death. However it's a catch 22 situation

I'm sending good thoughts your way Bandit. I hope everything turns out well for you both.

bandit,

It seems that your Master and I have some similar health issues, at times it can be an overwhelming problem, that people who have not experienced it, have trouble grasping just how it makes you feel.

Please pass my name on to your Master, and tell him if he needs someone to talk to, I would be more than happy to help. Being helpful to others makes me feel productive, and is good medicine for me too!.

I am a 6 heart attack survivor, 4 stents, a pacemaker, and I am also a Type 1 Diabetic, I take and have taken many different types of meds, I am sure we would have a great deal to talk about.

Pass this poem on to him as well, I use the last verse as my signature line, this poem was originally given to me by my dad many years ago, but it has taken on new meaning dealing with my illness.

The Quitter
Robert Service
When you're lost in the Wild, and you're scared as a child,
And Death looks you bang in the eye,
And you're sore as a boil, it's according to Hoyle
To cock your revolver and . . . die.
But the Code of a Man says: "Fight all you can,"
And self-dissolution is barred.
In hunger and woe, oh, it's easy to blow . . .
It's the hell-served-for-breakfast that's hard.

"You're sick of the game!" Well, now, that's a shame.
You're young and you're brave and you're bright.
"You've had a raw deal!" I know -- but don't squeal,
Buck up, do your damnedest, and fight.
It's the plugging away that will win you the day,
So don't be a piker, old pard!
Just draw on your grit; it's so easy to quit:
It's the keeping-your-chin-up that's hard.

It's easy to cry that you're beaten -- and die;
It's easy to crawfish and crawl;
But to fight and to fight when hope's out of sight --
Why, that's the best game of them all!
And though you come out of each gruelling bout,
All broken and beaten and scarred,
Just have one more try -- it's dead easy to die,
It's the keeping-on-living that's hard.
