Your first story?

I actually wrote my first erotic story for another free erotic story site, and subsequently posted it on literotica.

I submitted it 2 chapters at a time, for a total of 10 chapters (though the literotica version only has 9. I merged Ch.s 1 & 2, because Ch. 1 was very short). I didn't know quite where the story was going when I had already started submitting it, though I did have a rough idea. I since decided that I would never again submit a multi-chapter story until it was complete.

As of now, it's one of the two longest stories I've written. I don't know why my other works turn out to be so short. Perhaps it's because I'm better with interesting concepts than complex plots. I'd like to write more lengthy pieces, but I struggle to find the time for them.

It wasn't edited, and though I cringe at some parts of it, the only parts that really make me cringe now are the long, drawn-out sex scenes.

The only real advice I can offer is: Don't be afraid to put yourself out there. I've found the Lit community to be very friendly and supportive. Write something that really turns you on, and chances are that somebody else out there will get really turned on by it, too.

Oh, and just be wary of the Romance and Loving Wives sections - apparently they are prone to readers who dish out a lot of harsh and unwarranted criticism.

new as well

i am in the process of typeing up a story to submit. I finally decided to submit one after enjoyed many many stories. I have however been creating stories for ever it seems I used to pass journals around with my friends in high school. I can remember having 8 journals at one time LOL. I find that writing is a release for my overactive imagination. I do hope that you submit at least one story if people dont like it oh well its a part of you that you wished to share with the rest of the world, if you liked it thats all that matters.

first story- newbie

Mine was a bleeding mess. It wasn't edited. I got some harsh criticism, but most of the feedbacks were promising and helpful. I didn't give up..I got pointers from other writers and re-submit. Now i have a wonderful editor..bless her wee heart, who's really helpful.

I am a bit of a dreamer and very imaginative, so am always thinking about all kinds of stuff. I love historical/medieval books..and it helps that I lived in Scotland.

The only advice I can offer is... Don't be afraid to put yourself out there my dear...nothing is wrong in making mistakes, you can only grow and learn. Write what you feel, something that grabs you and make you feel hot or even laugh...not every one may like it, but some one out there may do so. Make sure you enjoy your self sweetie.

I was inspired by current reading (Tolkien) and Literotica's existing stories to write up my own contribution.

I spent a few days reading through the how-to-submit documents, but still tripped over creating a way-too-long title that was clipped. I fished for an editor (or at least a pre-submit reader), but there were no bites, so I trimmed down the introductory material, spell-checked, boosted the sex scene, re-proofed and caught a couple of errors, submitted and was accepted.

Still on my first story, so no comparisons yet.

I've been a Lit reader for a good while before becoming a writer. I wrote a lot of pages and started several stories on Literotica's "little sister" choose-your-own-adventure site Chyoo (see my signature) first.

I had been reading lit for years, but even though I am a keen writer I had never considered writing erotica before. Then I had a random conversation with someone in the bar and I remember thinking 'that would make a really good story on lit'. Over the next few days I fleshed out some of the details in my mind and then I just bit the bullet and started writing it.

The biggest challenge I found was planning the story. I hadn't written much fiction before and was used to planning my work paragraph by paragraph. But after I started my story I kept having new ideas and taking the story off in new directions. The end result was nothing like I envisaged at the start.

The first erotic story I wrote was A Favor For Rochelle, which is a story of female domination. I wrote this story for my wife (girlfriend at the time) as an example of a femdom session. That has been a fantasy of mine for a long time and we were starting to explore it, though she was clueless as to her role. Since she isn't into watching porn, and I had written a number of mainstream stories in the past, putting together a short female domination story seemed like the way to go.

It was some time after I wrote that story when I came across the Literotica site and posted it here. Since it got good ratings I was inspired to write a sequel and then other stories.

The female domination role play between my wife and I is not nearly as intense as anything in my stories, but writing stories and getting an occasional paddling has satisfied my fantasy.

These, perfect suggestions to first time writers, in my opinion.

Oh, and just be wary of the Romance and Loving Wives sections - apparently they are prone to readers who dish out a lot of harsh and unwarranted criticism.

I just wrote one I really enjoyed that fit into this cat, then tweaked it to get insane responses. I can't wait until they see it, it's going to be a blast reading the comments if anyone posts.

I haven't been submitting stories for long. My first one I wrote specifically to submit. I read something in a thread about a previous Christmas contest on Literotica and the basic plot just appeared in my head two nights later. Writing over the next two weeks produced a story I thought was pretty good, so I submitted it after three rereads.
I figured either people would ignore it, slam it or say it was OK. Whatever the case, I found it to be a sexy little story. Some people have actually favourited (?) the story and me, so they are either taking me for a ride or someone out there actually liked the story. Some people are just crazy enough...
But my first erotic story ever was a comic book I wrote and drew (I think about 15 pages) almost thirty years ago. Ah, teenagers. Since then I always dabbled, mostly in non-erotic stuff, but never published or even really dreamed of having anyone outside of friends look at my work.
The wife says I've been more frisky since I started writing this erotic stuff. So it's a plus at home.
Now I've got some 30 plots, maybe a half dozen which I've written up into first drafts. It feels good to get these stories down on 'paper'. The plots and characters have been cluttering up my subconscious.
As for advice from another newbie to Literotica, if you work hard at it and you like it then someone else is bound to like it, too.
The only aspect of Literotica I'm not happy with is the response from volunteer editors. I tried four, before I first submitted. Three never responded (I waited a couple of weeks for each) and the fourth did respond and I sent my story as requested and over a month later still had no feedback. Later I got no response to a query about whether this person had any time to work on it or was too busy or what. Now I've just given up on them, which means my writing is unlikely to improve.

As for American spelling, I use Canadian spelling and I haven't had a problem.

There was an erotic fiction contest on TV Tropes, and I decided I might as well try it for the sheer hell of it. I used this site to host the story, and to my amazement, I got Editor's Choice. It inspired me to compile all the other stories I'd wanted to tell over the years. (I've always said that in order to get noticed on the Internet, you need to write either fanfic or porn, and I love creating my own worlds and characters too much to manage a frequent fanfic output.)

My first "On the Trunk of a Car" is now chapter 1 of "House on Park," posted here, I'm a mainstream mystery novelist and a scene I was writing one night developed into a sex scene. I excised it from the novel, but published it to another site as a separate story, and then started writing this stuff regularly.

My first one was 'Coke Whore, the Next Chapter' a second part to another authors story. I liked his story a great deal, and the characters he created even more. I felt the young lady needed a happy ending. Alas there was no part two. The first story was published over ten years ago.

So after months of getting up the nerve, and talking with a few authors who were kind enough to respond to my queries I did it. I was even able to contact RLFJ, for his permission. He liked the story a lot, made a few suggestions on the format, and that was that. On another website, he created a "Coke Whore Universe" where the two are joined together at the hip. I was flattered.

My story was dark, and showed a tough life, yet the end justified the means. I have had a lot of criticism for the graphic nature of the story, however; I felt it was correct. Drug addiction is a dark and violent path it can't be treated any other way in my opinion. I did my best to tie the two stories together, bringing other characters in, securing the loose ends, and emulating his style to a small extent with the chapters. I suggested reading his first so the reader could connect the dots between the stories.

Most comments were from 'anons'. Some were nasty, and a few got into a disagreement and used it as a small forum. One comment though stuck out, and made me feel real good about the story: "You picked a great story to continue and did a seamless job of it. Great work!!!" Very nice to hear such a positive comment for a first time 'author'.

I enjoyed writing it, and based on the vote tally, a lot of readers did too! My second story is 'one thousand percent' mine, and was not edited. There are a few hiccups, but nothing major. I would like to find an editor but I don't have time to hunt and peck for one. It would be nice if I could search for an editor, similar to how a story is searched.

Nevertheless, think I did okay with it though. The story was fun to write, and I thought overall it was a better read, but the votes don't show it. Of course a story posted in LW with a forgiveness theme automatically gets whacked. LOL On the bright side, it has well over four times the readers, and the comments have been very, very, positive.

If you wish to read my first and second story, here are the links:

Enough about that. The simple advice is just do it. Like I said it took me a few months to take the plunge so to speak, and I am glad I did. I have met some great people, and for the most part, the authors have been supportive and willing to talk.

I hope that you get the courage to write, and will look forward to reading it.

my first story series was more focused on sex... but some still say that it's their favorite.

I'd give you the link, but the site is acting up today.
