President Trump ORDERS DC Mayor Bowser to “Clean Up All of the Unsightly Homeless Encampments in the City” – “If She is Not Capable of Doing So, We Will be Forced To Do it for Her!”

“If she is not capable of doing so, we will be forced to do it for her!” the President declared.

Per The Hill:

Last month, Trump said “the governance” of the nation’s capital should be acquired by the federal government.
“I think that we should govern the District of Columbia,” Trump said to reporters at the time. “I think that we should run it strong, run it with law and order, make it absolutely flawless.”

I hear she's going to take down the BLM crap she painted on the street as well.

You meant to say "Cleaning up the City of the District of Columbia".

The capital will eventually move out of DC. Trump could float a few location possibilities as a reminder to the mayor that she would be the mayor of nothing if it moves now.

No, I meant to say her slums, "Heavily populated urban settlement characterized by squalor," Homeless camps are unsightly settlements characterized by squalor. There are some shitty parts of town she could tend to as well, but if she won't Trump will.

On the other hand, the District of Columbia could cede most of the city to the state of Maryland (the way the part of the District of Columbia that was on the west side of the Potomac was ceded to Virginia) then the mayor could be a proper mayor of a proper city, the inhabitants of Washington could vote for members of Congress and the District of Columbia would be what it was always supposed to be, a small place exclusively for federal government buildings and federal government business.

That may eventually happen and settle the DC statehood issue.

On the other hand, both the Democrats and the Republicans of Maryland might be unhappy with the idea, the Democrats unhappy being saddled with half a million new citizens, many of them quite poor, the Republicans unhappy about all those new Democrat votes!

The best choice would be St. Louis -- a major metropolis, neither northern nor southern, neither eastern nor western ("Gateway to the West"), at the confluence of two major waterways (the Mississippi and Missouri rivers), and far enough inland to be safe from attack by sea. Very near the geographic center of the country. There was a bill in Congress, in 1865, to move the capital there.

How much will this help bring down the cost of eggs?

Ah yes, shit on the homeless some more.
Perhaps President Trump can arrange to have their citizenship revoked (it doesn't seem to be doing much for them anyway, they could probably be persuaded to give it up for a few dollars and some food) and then deport them with all the 11 million illegal aliens he's planning to get rid of.

Maryland would gain one House seat. Dems would have a loss of 2 votes in the electoral college, since DC has 3 now.

No way. Unconstitutional.
As long as all the states involved consent to it, the internal boundaries of your country can be carved up in any way they like. The District of Columbia was originally a square. Now it's not.

Interesting tradeoff! Do you want those two extra votes every four years, or do you want one more vote in Congress every year?

Then do it in a bill that, at the same time, admits Puerto Rico as a state. That kind of compromise has been done before -- the Dakota Territory (Republican) was admitted as two states, at the same time as Montana and Washington (Democratic). It's a fair tradeoff because PR is probably but not necessarily Dem -- it has its own party system and the mainland system does not map onto it.

Where should the homeless go? Would you like to see mass suicide?

Where should the homeless go?
To work. We will need more physical laborers and skilled workers. The real estate bubble is due for a giant pop. Property values and property laws will be going through a wood chipper as homes stop being hugely expensive investments and become just homes again.

What do you base that on?
