A House GOP lawmaker has officially filed articles of impeachment against Chief Judge James E. Boasberg of the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, accusing him of abusing his judicial power to block President Trump’s deportation efforts.

Congressman Brandon Gill (R-TX) introduced the resolution on Tuesday, citing Boasberg’s intervention as a direct constitutional violation that obstructed the president’s enforcement of immigration law. “By thwarting President Trump’s lawful efforts to deport violent illegal alien gangsters, Judge Boasberg created a constitutional crisis. He is unfit for judicial office,” Gill wrote in a statement on social media.

The resolution, introduced in the House of Representatives, formally accuses Boasberg of high crimes and misdemeanors, specifically charging him with abuse of power by interfering in the executive branch’s authority to enforce federal law, including the Alien Enemies Act.

The resolution states: “Chief Judge Boasberg, in violation of his oath of office, did knowingly and willfully use his judicial position to advance political gain while interfering with the President’s constitutional prerogatives and enforcement of the rule of law.”

The impeachment article argues that under the Alien Enemies Act, the president has sole and unreviewable discretion to determine whether an invasion has taken place and to act accordingly. It cites Supreme Court precedent from Ludecke v. Watkins (1948), which affirmed that such executive determinations are not subject to judicial review.

Hopefully a vote of the House on these articles will be successful.

I'm of two minds on this. While I agree with the basis for the filing, I'm not enthused about having the Senate distracted by a trial.

BTW, the removal of a judge does not have to rise to the level of"high crimes and misdemeanors" all the Constitution specifies is "good behavior."

I agree completely. Not so much as a distraction of the Senate but the poor chances of getting enough Senate Democrats to affect an impeachment. Most of them probably support this subversion of the Constitution and the current President. But because the "process" is the punishment both physical and financial it may be the only effective way to set an example for the rest of the judiciary and handle a rogue judge who knows full well that he is out of his lane of jurisdiction and is attempting to interfere with the clear Article II authority of the President.

If the house does impeach the judge you know damn well that the Dems in the senate are going to try to drag the trial out as long as possible so as to stall any other legislation.

Justice Roberts says you, Trump, and Gill are wrong.

Came in here to say the exact same thing. This whole exercise is a political stunt.
This administration has forced MAGATs to contradict themselves, their president, and common sense.

It must be a very confusing time for these dimwitted morons.

Justice Roberts says you, Trump, and Gill are wrong.
Roberts can have his opinion! It's only an opinion! No federal judge has the authority over the executive branch. None of them! If they did, why have a president? End of story! Buckle up Beuttercup, the fun hasent even started yet!!🍿🏀🍿🏀

“Chief Justice Roberts rebukes Trump and GOP rhetoric about impeaching judges”

Oh no not a rebuke!

The Judge will need more impeachments to equal the Felon Sex Offender.

Yup, a MAGA not a drag queen.
Police in the Twin Cities say a Minnesota Republican state senator has been arrested for allegedly trying to solicit sex from a minor.

According to Bloomington police, detectives communicated with the man, identified as 40-year-old Justin Eichorn of Grand Rapids, who thought he was talking with a 16-year-old girl. Eichorn was most recently one of the authors of a bill by Minnesota Senate Republicans to define "Trump derangement syndrome" as a mental illness.
