Recruiting for D&D 3.5

'Cause 4e is new and scary!

Of course it's new! But it's not scary-scary, it's scary-awesome. I've been playing a game of 4e for about a month now with a dwarf fighter, and let me tell you, it is fun how much damage he can deal.

On a normal crit, he deals max damage on a single d12, then normal rolls on an additional 3d12. Now, if he was to crit on one of his powers which does 3d12 normally, I believe he would deal max damage on those 3d12, then add an additional 3d12. I'm not sure on that, mainly because he has yet to crit on one of those powers. So, yeah...he can dish out a lot of damage.

Well 4e is easy to pick up. But going from 3.5 to 4th, I just can't deal with how bland and flavorless 4e is. I miss spell casting having different mechanics then melee.

But any how atleast until a 4e video game comes out or another year and half I predict 3.5 is will remain the more common system.

I do like a number of things from 4th edition however. Chief among them the ritual set up for item crafting, closely fallowed by the minion class of monsters. Ah cr 30 with only one hp.

Why 3.5? Why not 4e?

I don't like that they changed a perfectly good system. I thought the PCs were out of control as is in 3.5. My favorite all time is the original, but most people nowadays like the prestige classes, so I flow with it.

Hey, Misty, missed your old game.

What books are acceptable? Just core or can I use the "Complete X" series or perhaps phb2?

Are we fallowing all rules, or are we ignoring caring capacity, or perhaps just writing it like we would a story with the dungeon and dragons set up? If we are doing rules do we roll on the honor system or do you roll for us? What about sneak and trapfind, do we roll or you?

Any other questions I should be asking?

Vlad, if you can post a link to a decent 4th edition character generator, i'd be more than happy to join.

Yes, 3.5, and I'd approve what passes for allowed books. I do prefer core, but I think occasional additions are welcome. Just check with me first.

myth-weavers.com is a good site for making PC sheets.

I'll do much of the rolling, and you can describe actions in battle you want to do. I will then put up what actually happens from the rolls.

I want to keep the party small, and I'm still waiting for applicants.

Small shouldn't be an issue we have six players assuming every one plays. Which I am guessing won't happen.

I am flexible depending on what the party needs. But here are some characters I am currently considering. Sorry if they are complex. (Form: concept, type of character, book refrences)

-Dwarf or human swashbuckler, melee combat character, Complete warrior
Elan psion or ardent, offensive spell caster with some healing spells, expanded -psion and complete psion
-Dragonborn sword sage, melee combat some stealth, tome of battle and races of the dragon.
-Dragonborn bard, booster and it makes me laugh, races of the dragon
-Beguiler wispergnome, trapfinding illusionist and enchanter, phb 2 and races of stone
-paladin / monk Human, unarmeed melee combat, Complete adventurer for scetic knight feat.
-Ninja human, trapfinding stealth, complete adventurer

Any how let me know which of these are just plain out of the running.

Oh yeah, I see that now. All this talk about 4e, my brain got confused. LOL! I'm still in if you're willing to okay the pm I'm about to send you Vlad.

Ah hell, I'll just post my proposal/request here...

Cats:
I always prefer the human PCs, but Dwarf and whispergnome I'd consider. I know little of the Beguiler... isn't it like an illusionist?
Perhaps I can convince MistyS to be a cleric, she has yet to send me anything.

Definite no to dragonborn.

Ravenloft:
I'm a little sketchy on new classes, is this from a book I haven't heard of.... or forgot? It might fit well in this kind of a forum, so I think I'm going to say yes.

The original class came from an OGL d20 book called book of erotic secrets. Dereliction of Sanity, someone who used to run a D&D thread that both Cats and I were in reworked the class from a prestige class into a starting class with a little help from me. So, the idea came from a published book, but its really been home brewed.

I liked it because it had a very interesting flavor to it. Sort of a barbarian/bard/monk stew. DoS called it an anti monk once. LOL.

Not sure if I want to be a cleric. Maybe a sorceress. I want to go arcane.

Players on the List:
MistyS: A wizard/Sorceress
Ravenloft: Disciple of Fury
Cats: ???

Hey, I have no problem with all magic-user parties.
But, I definitely will have an NPC in the group, and it won't be a cleric. :D

Oh! I know, Misty! Play a wild mage... WILD! And name her Sorceress.

*The above is a total 'in-joke' which requires one to view The Gamers: Dorkness Rising by The Dead Gentlemen to get.*

I'll play a Half-Orc Barbarian Fighter Mix....so the brute strength
