Hi all,

WE all see people in their attire. For most of us, a person's attire is integral to whether we give some body a second look, that second glance. But the opposite is also true, some one's attire will 'turn us of' instantly!

So...

Females:

Turn On:

The professional look, smart attire, preferably in a longer skrt, boots and a jacket, under which likes a simple camisole top...

Turn Off:

Silly jogging suits!!

Males:

Turn On

a male is a smart, well fitting suit carried well, a correctly tied tie, the knot close to the collar hiding the collar button...

Turn Off

A male in a designer suit worn with an arrogance, badly fitted, badly carried, collar button clearly visible dirty shoes..

Miranda:

I'm only interested in males. On men, long hair is really the main think I look for, but I definitely notice clothing too. I detest khaki, and am not very fond of solid-color t-shirts. Also not interested in sports gear, I don't really want to hang out with a guy who is a big sports fan. I like witty/funny t-shirts, velour shirts, silk dress shirts, poet shirts, suede or denim shirts, male corsets, and assorted punk/goth clothing. For bottoms, almost anything black, or jeans, possibly corduroy. Not a big fan of loafers or dress shoes, boots are awesome and sneakers are fine, especially ones that are not white or gray.

In females the biggest turn off is when they just don't care about how they look and they grab the first thing they find. You where sports shorts and any old t shirt only around the house, not when you go out in public. I understand you might not be trying to impress anyone but don't look so apathetic. Simply put i hate flip flops (don't like her rocking with her toes out), old athletic shorts, and those faded kappa kappa whatever shirts. If you don't care how you look, don't waste my time cause neither do i.

I don't pay much attention to men. But on women, I like the basic look of jeans and and a white button down blouse. In the summer, tie it up. In the winter, substitute a white turtleneck. Simple. Boots and hats can be hot accessories. An old girlfriend had a Greek fisherman's cap that I loved. And hoop earrings scream "SEX."

Turnoffs? Makeup, believe it or not, particularly when there's a lot of it. Glittery clothes - anything that's too flashy.

But hey, I'm a New Englander. We don't do flashy.

my interests are exclusively women. i generally like any outfit that is flattering.

this means that track suits are completely out of the question. basically, any outfit that says "i'm just interested in being comfy" completely doesn't work. so it could be jeans and a button-down short, or a professional-looking suit and skirt.

having said that: a woman wearing a riding outfit really does something for me. maybe it's the crop?

Yes. Not sure how I forgot to mention the riding outfits. Wow.

*waggles brows* Oh really? Do tell! ;):D

While I'm strictly het, I do tend to notice both men and women. There is no one specific type of clothing I notice over another: it's more of a confidence thing. When someone is wearing clothing they know fits them well and is flattering to their bodies, it translates to an extra pep in their step. That's what catches my eye. I've seen a woman in New Orleans totally rocking the sundresses and "My Fair Lady" hats as well as a gent in Austin looking mighty fine in simple Wranglers, a well fitted chambray shirt and a black Stetson.

Loose, frumpy, baggy clothing on either sex is a distinct turn off. As is clothing that looks like it must have been spray painted on, too much bling or heavy makeup.

On more thing: Guyliner? Oh hell no.

I totally agree..

The attire has to suit the person, their gait, their confidence. But I also prefer those who on a first glance look as if they are being daring, but a second glance reveals another more discrete layer, as they say less is more

Miranda

Two turn-offs - anyone who looks like they care a lot about how they look, and anyone who is dirty.

culloden: heh...thanks, i knew i couldn't be the only guy!

bailadora: in thinking on it, i'm really not sure what it is. BDSM isn't generally my cup of tea. maybe it's the prim properness of english riding outfits that send my perv brain into overdrive. :>

ed

I didn't think so Ed, but with an opening like that I couldn't resist poking at you a bit.

Nasty habit of mine...

hey, that's what friends are for: appreciating our nasty habits, right? :>

ed

oh yeah...

I am hair guy.
I can spot a bad dye job half a mile out.
Age, body style, and venue appropriate clothing is key.

When admiring men:

A great looking suit with good shoes (usually prompts me to sneak up and see if they smell as good as they look. . . )

or my favorite, jeans and a white button down shirt *swoon*

When admiring ladies:
Sexy shoes are a must for me, and love to see women in leather, particularly skirts but any leather will do.

I've noticed in this thread that some people mentioned 'too put together' as a turn off, and I'm at a loss: what the hells that this mean?

As for me, I notice if an outfit 'fits' the person; if s/he is comfortable and suits the individual. I can spot a mile away when a person is trying too hard and that's an automatic turn off.

And I prefer tasteful in addition to suiting the individual. Just... elegant, if that makes sense

What I can't stand is dirty and too tight all over. Or guys with jeans hanging at their knees - I just want to go over and pull their pants down :D

Well I have a general dislike of people that look too professional or contrived, I'd put "too put together" in that category. Like the woman in a red power suit with skirt who has her hair up in a chignon with a clip that matches her necklace, bracelet, and earrings, and her purse matches her heels and maybe her lipstick too. Ugh what a way to broadcast how hung up you are on living to others' expectations and maintaining an image.

Ah! Thank you for clarifying that.

And it seems that I'm safe then :D

I really like women in uniforms. All of the trite fantasies. Nurse, cheerleader, airline attendant, police officer, etc. I'm a sucker for a woman in uniform.
