Tornado season

Yes Spring does add a new TWIST in things.

I love tornado season. I don't like the fact that they kill people, but I do love to see a twister out in the middle of nowhere minding its own business.

We don't really have tornadoes, but we have water spouts. More scary than tornadoes if you ask me even though they are essentially identical. Usually you don't see them except when you are out on the water. And if you do, then you better high tail it, because there's no place to hide if it comes at you.

I much prefer thunderstorms for enjoying nature's beauty unleashed.

I'm still new to non city living. I see cows I go... wait for it... mooooo

I rather imagine the cows are looking at me thinking "tsk. city folk."

In the South, there is no such thing as tornado "season." We have them all the time, regardless of the time of year.

Having lived in the Midwest since birth until finding my way to the South, I'll take a tornado over a hurricane any day.

being further south, yup hurricanes are not fun. Waterspouts in a boat are more common than hurricanes though.

Waterspouts while in a boat does sound scary....now, a different sort of waterspout while in a boat, that's an entirely different matter ;)

I personally advise anyone who asks against midwest living - it can be dangerous to your health. :p

Hurricane Season

"Hurricane Season starts in May and ends in November.
Hurricanes are more dangerous than tornadoes. They have tornadoes and waterspouts within them. You cant see them coming because the sky is so dark. If you ever wanted to see nighttime during the day. Be in a hurricane. Ive been thru 3 of them.

Wow. You know that none of us are blind, right?

You're a bleeding amateur, mate. I lived in Florida from 1971 - 2002, of which I believe there was *one* year in which Florida did not suffer a strike or consequences of a hurricane too near. I have been evacuated from my homes - one of which was not even in a flood insurance zone! - four times for hurricanes.

As for your statement that "Hurricanes are more dangerous than tornadoes" - poppycock. That's like saying that a .38 is more dangerous than a 12-gauge shotgun. In the right circumstances, either is dangerous. Either can kill you. Is death more dangerous than death? Hurricanes, at least, don't sneak up on you and suddenly appear from nowhere like a thief in the night. Tornadoes can and do.

And as gracie said, we're not hard of seeing here... you needn't yell. You should, however, learn to write in complete sentences.

The difference between hurricanes and tornados?

Hurricanes can be predicted DAYS in advance, including information regarding severity.

Tornados just happen.

Like the other night; 16 of them in the Dallas Metroplex from *one* slow moving storm. One of them was a mile wide. Another hooked, reformed, and hit again. Some of the hail was the size of softballs. Homes were stripped from their foundations; all that was left was the concrete slab.

They really are a sight to behold.

Better then an Earthquake.. That would almost scare me..

I tend to agree. While living is San Fransisco I went through several and boy-oh-boy!

But then I grew up with twisters so it might just be my training.

This from last night...

Yea.. When the earth moves, you cannot drive away from that.. If can drive away from a twister.
