What song has been ruined for you? Either by an ex, overplayed on the radio, remixed, etc...

Mine is Dive by Luke Combs. I shared it and wish I had kept the sentiment to myself.

Oh and I never really liked the song but All of Me by John Legend. It was remixed into a fast paced techno dance song. WTF?!

November Rain-Guns and Roses. I tried to sing it on Soundcloud as a gift to a friend and I butchered it.

Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds - Red Right Hand ... so overused to signal 'evil' in movies/TV. It's actually a great song, but I now skip it whenever it comes up on a playlist/CD because I'm so over it. (Yes, I still listen to CDs.)

Good question. I don't think I have a song that was ruined for me.
There is only one (Lady in Red) which I have sweet memories connected with, but also some bitter ones.

It reminds me when I sent a piece of music to someone to listen and he didn't even bother to listen to it. I was like: O, are you an idiot sandwich? Just don't.:D

Right?! You share something meaningful to you and there’s a negative reaction...it can feel personal.

Georgia On My Mind... a classic ruined by my MIL who hummed it for hours while driving with me to Atlanta.

Also, pretty much every Radiohead song. I never really cared for them, but a close friend sang along with 'Creep' one day and I was dying laughing at how uncanny his whiney impersonation was to the original. I can't unhear it.

It is personal. Maybe it's not meant as direct insult towards you. But as you said, you are sharing something meaningful to you, which reveals something personal about you. Ignoring it, is kind of dissing you. But hey, it tells you a lot, so it's for the better. ;)

Hinder - Lips Of An Angel

Did a friend a favor and picked up her daughter from school while she was picking up the other two crumb snatchers on the other side of town. We were sitting in the driveway, waiting on Momma Bear. And for whatever reason, the kiddo decided to show off her singing talent.

Don't get me wrong. The kid had pipes for sure. And she really pulled it off.

But, there is something so inherently wrong about a fourteen-year-old girl child singing that song to a family friend she'd kinda been a teensy bit obvious she had a schoolgirl crush on.

Even all this time later (she's in her twenties, with kiddos of her own), that song makes me distinctly uncomfortable as I remember her barely post-pubescent, singing it to me. And very carefully praising her talent while ignoring the message and the look she was giving me when she finished and "Oh, look, here they are, now!"

Momma Bear, a coworker at the college where I taught, was absolutely NO help as she would sing a line or two at me and walk away laughing ever after.

Oh noooooooooooooo! I'm a massive Pink Floyd fan. That's a pity.

When I was young my group of friends and I had what I've come to think of as a Pink Floyd summer. All summer, nothing but Pink Floyd. It was the soundtrack to that summer, and it's not a particular summer I like to go back to unfortunately.
