Anyone thinking of making some resolutions regarding their Litrotica writing in 2024?

I'm thinking I want to try to:
-Enter two competitions (likely Valentines and maybe Halloween, perhaps Summer Lovin').
-Write in 5 categories I've not written in before.

These next two are just milestones I hope to happen rather than anything I'd be actively working to.
-Increase my followers to 500 (from my current 314).
-Reach a milestone 50 favourites on my of my stories.

What are yours?

My biggest resolution was to write only light and breezy stuff, at least for a while. I'm a bit tired of writing dark stories.

But this morning the inspiration bullet hit me in the head, and now I'm writing a story called "The Night Became Her Lover". (Credit - and blame - belong to Luka Bloom.)

Haha, I'm the same... I tell myself to focus on mostly writing fun and cute romantic smut, but often end up getting tempted by dark fantasies!

I don't have a resolution so much as a New Years 2024 goal: I want to post 12 stories over the year. Somehow once a month posting seems both insanely impossible and highly doable. I just have to make the effort to go through all my WIPs, edit them, and close them out as submissions.

I plan to write the final series in the empire setting, something to close the loop.

And go post some wilder stuff on another website.

I resolve to have no resolutions. They inevitably result in missed goals and disappointments.

Truth is I never did the resolution thing. Too many other things going on to wrap my head around. The closest I ever got was upgrading my printer to 1200dpi. That was a resolution I could keep.

I'd like to bring a little more sublety into my writing... a bit more fade to black as opposed to the Tab A into Slot B style which I seem naturally drawn to 🤭

Maybe try one or two new categories and, you never know... maybe a contest.

[Note to self]
I noticed the flurry of maybe's above - are you back-tracking already?

1. Complete my unfinished series (I have two of them).
2. Publish stories in at least three new categories.
3. Feel confident by the end of 2024 that my writing has improved.
4. Publish at least one story every month.

The only resolution for 2024 that I've formulated so far is to hit 500 Lit. entries by March in this account name. Currently at 484.

Find the inspiration to work on the novel idea I have bouncing around in my head

1. Publish in few other categories
2. Try to bring more thematic depth to my stories
3. Read more stories from other authors
4. Consciously work on character development, metaphor, other literary tools

  1. Get at least two more chapters done for First Contact.
  2. Branch out into a few other categories
  3. Actually finish a few of the four dozen works I have in progress
  4. Make some significant progress on my Fantasy novel(Oh, come on, we're all writing one.)

... Write something that I can feel proud of. And lots of things that I cannot!

- Complete a few of my unfinished series (hopefully soon)
- Write at a least one story every month
- Enter a few contests
- Try writing in a few more categories
- Aim for 200 submissions

I think @Priscilla_June nailed it....
Unless you see this as becoming (A job)
We write for fun, and the most important part of the whole process, is to extract every Millilitre of enjoyment from it as we can.

I understand that is difficult sometimes, between wanting to care for our newly born creations, worrying about nastygrams from angry commenters, and fretting about how to improve. We sometimes lose sight of the reasons most of us are here...

FUN.... ENJOYMENT.... RELEASING OUR CREATIVE JUICES....

If I had to set a goal, that would be mine.

Worry less, and enjoy more.
