We're getting close to releasing the public BETA of the new Literotica Author Profiles.

If you'd like to have a look at your new Author Profile, please check the following URL:
literotica.com/authors/YourUsernameHere

We got a lot of feedback during the private BETA, and I'm looking forward to hearing more feedback now that everyone can see what we've been working on.

Thank you. :D

I dig the look, and the way the works are displayed. My series have some odd numbers displaying for how many parts they contain: one five-part series says it has 63, a two-parter says 32.

And we see how many times each story has been added to a reading list, too!

The number of parts seems to correspond to the total number of comments on the stories in the series.

Huge improvement. It looks great. The sorting is awesome, and sorting by date is a big deal. I really like how the series is displayed.

One bug and two wish-list items:

My series "Aces" has 6 chapters. In the summary block (expanded view) it says "Series "Aces" has 5 chapters" under the name, and on the right it shows "26 parts".

I'd love to see the story word count or pages on each story.

I'd love to be able to sort an authors works by rating and category as well as date and alpha.

Thanks for the work on this.

I tested it, and while I am thrilled that you are working on some improvements, I must say that they are a bit... underwhelming.

Pros:

1. Looks somewhat nicer.
2. The number of followers the author has is now shown without having to click on one of the author's stories.
3. Stories can be displayed by date now.
4. Stories are displayed with additional stats compared to before.

Cons:

1. Stories take up much more space now so it is harder to go through the stories of authors who have plenty of them, especially if they are mostly standalone stories. The number of stories that fit into our visual field is much lower now.

Edit: One of my chapters is now displayed both in and outside of the series. The problem doesn't exist in the old Author profile.

You have made an improvement so that's great, but I wish you would actually ask us for feedback before implementing some changes. I believe people here would contribute greatly both as readers and as authors.

Oh my God, YES!

- Show word count (or at least the amount of pages) AND include an expandable part with the applied Tags, please!
- I'd also appreciate an option in the manually created series to tell readers whether the "series" I'm creating is an actual series of stories, or if I'm just abusing that feature to keep the chapters of a single story together, and to have that displayed in the series header in the new profile.

I strongly second the tags.

Any place a list of stories appears, readers are looking to select the story they want to read right then. Length, category, rating, and features (tags) are a big part of that choice. Having to click to see all that lessens the experience for readers and artificially inflates view stats.

EDIT: And please don't take my wisn-list as any kind of complaint. You're doing god's work here.

Some feedback as a reader.

Overall I think there's a lot great here, especially the ability to add a story to a list right from the story list and the sorting capabilities.

Some things I noted for correction/improvement.

- The number of series parts seems to be showing the total comment count for the series.
- The way in which the sequence number is displayed is inconsistent, sometimes it has a leading '0' sometimes it doesn't (see below)
- The link to the author's profile is redundant. It can be removed and it would have the benefit of shrinking the entry for each story.
- Addition of word/page count and tags would be greatly beneficial

Isn't that what this post is? Its not even the public beta version yet.

I also like the word count/page count idea. 275 words/page is the one I typically see.

On the favourites lists, I'd personally prefer the FIRST author I favourited to show first.

I mean, it's not a big deal I suppose. Just saying. Could we have that option?

Also, what others have said, there's some very weird things going on with stories, with a couple of mine being duplicated.

I also note it doesn't seem up to date e.g. My story "Eve & Lucy 04: Rehearsals" shows as having a 5.0 ranking on the beta site (I wish) when it is currently ranked as 4.91.

Furthermore, for writers who write connected stories, showing the newest first is not going to be helpful - most readers will need to start with the oldest.

But it looks really nice! x

Yeah. I code for a living, and you can ask selected people for ideas all day and miss a lot, then the alpha testers find a few things, but it is not till you get it to a broad user base that you find out what really needs to be done. Until people see something concrete, it's all speculation and detached hopes.

This appears to still be a WIP, so I'm guessing there is still time to act on some of this feedback.

It needs word counts on each story and a strict chronological order option. Having series is fine, but it doesn't help when you are looking for the new stories if the newest story is part of a series.

Reverse ordering would be great as well. When someone has 300 stories, it's a lot of scrolling to get to the end of the list.

I'll echo the suggestion of including tags and word counts.
I get the impression that the 'parts' on series entries refers to the number of 'Lit pages,' since I know I don't have as many comments as mine show for parts. If that's correct, maybe tweak the language to make it more clear?
Good looking overall, and I like the links to the series pages especially!

Except for one series, it matches the combined comment count for me.

There already is, if people would just put it in their sigs. It takes 2 minutes, people...
I fear you ask too much, my dear fellow. Asking for action on my part for that which others can do for me? Are you not aware of the new entitlement that has fallen upon us? :)

Thanks, Manu. It looks great but I echo a number of previous comments that word count, a link to tags, and eliminating the author's title in each line (on his or her own page) would be useful and shorten it considerably in some cases.

The number of "parts" in series is currently linked to the total number of comments in the series rather than the actual number of entries. That total number is already shown to the left too.

A cover photo at the top might be nice eventually to allow authors to personalize the page more.
