23: A song your partner/child/family member would guess was your favorite

Only because I've been practicing the bass line non stop because it's stupid fun to play

Rancid "Journey to the End of East Bay" (as played through by Rancid bassist, Matt Freeman)

Day 23 - A song your partner/child/family member would guess was your favorite

My kids would probably say this one since I've played it multiple times on roadtrips with them. But I couldn't possibly pick a single favourite song.
Twisted Transistor - Korn

Day 24 - A song you find yourself singing along with unconsciously
Heard this on the radio yesterday and it turns out I know far more of the lyrics than I ever would have guessed.
"Espresso" - Sabrina Carpenter

Day 24 - A song you find yourself singing along with unconsciously

When this song turns on I have to sing along. The bold words especially.

Let's get it crunk up on
Have fun up on up in this dancery
We got ya'll open, now ya floatin'
So you gots to dance for me
Don't need no hateration, holleration
In this dancery
Let's get it perculatin' while you're waiting
So just dance for me

Family Affair - Mary J. Blige

25. A song remembering an artist taken from us.
Earlier today I learned of Jimmy Cliff's passing yesterday. The man was a legend and headlined several Reggae Sunsplash tours. I changed today's planned prompt upon hearing the news. This man influenced music and entertained audiences spanning 6 decades and likely isn't done. If I ever have grandchildren, I'll introduce them to this:

Jimmy Cliff - Many Rivers to Cross

I guess he finally found his way home.

Peace brother.

Day 23 - A song your partner/child/family member would guess was your favorite

Father’s Day 2010 or 11. My 2nd marriage was crumbling.

My daughter took her iPod and she and I went for a drive. My daughter made a fabulous playlist of all the songs I loved: Motörhead, the Ramones, Blur, Cockney Rejects, a bunch of skinhead reggae classics…. But also this. And she was right… (altho you could probably pick about 10 Kinks songs that are my favorite)

The Kinks - Ev'rybody's Gonna Be Happy

Day 24 - A song you find yourself singing along with unconsciously

Heard this the other day for the first time in a few years and it’s been a rambling around my fevered brain since.

Suzi Chunk - No Stone Unturned

25. A song remembering an artist taken from us.

In 2000 I took a job that required me to travel into the financial district in NYC once a week. It was a long commute and I would listen to my MP3 player on the train, transfer from Newark Penn station to the PATH train to world trade. This song perfectly sums up coomute and the office work and is so evocative to me.

This song sums up my commute and my day job there tell everything came crashing down. And then everything changed.

FoW will always be one of my favorites. My second wife really loved them and it was my current wife’s first date. RIP Jimmy Cliff for sure. But also to Adam Schlessinger… 🫤

Fountains of Wayne - Sick Day
