😈✨🍺MrTenant's Tavern and Dungeon

I had an exasperating day, so I am just wanting to relax. I decide to throw in a movie I just bought on DVD. I haven’t seen it in years. I click on the stereo (surround sound, don’t cha know), put the DVD in the player and walk into the kitchen to get a cold soda.

All of a sudden, there is a LOUD woman’s scream! I almost jumped out of my skin! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I guess…. I should have expected something like that from Vincent Price in House On Haunted Hill. 🤣🤣🤣

Could have been worse..you could have walked back into the lounge... and the stereo wasn't actually turned on...

Rewatched Van Helsing last night... still wondering how Kate Beckinsale (and her stunt double) could move, let alone run, in that corset and those thigh high boots.

Lol, Hollywood for you. Action hero women kicking ass in stiletto heels and ballroom gowns. Super stiff corsets, and yea, thigh high boots.

Let's just go with... those women are just that badass. Even restrictive impractical garments and footwear doesn't stop them. 😍 It's a good look. I'll give it that.

Here's one of my faves from No Time to Die

Well... I always loved the statement that Ginger Rodgers did every dance move Fred Astaire did, but she did it backwards, in heels and a long dress. 🥰🥰🥰🥰

As an occasional corset wearer and also q former competition damcer, you can do quite a bit in a corset and high heels. Like gallop.

The corset can be made such that it doesn't restrict movement much more than a bra, the heels are the difficult part.

Agree- corsets are really just an earlier version of a bra. Serves a similar purpose. Ordinarily they are not all about cinching in the waist and compressing abdominal organs though there was a period in which that look was highly fashionable

..... I'm just a dumb man.
Isn't that redundant?

*runs out of the room giggling.... then comes back in*

Okay, Kitty, you are far from dumb and you know it. Well... the man part though...

*runs back out of the room, giggling again*

@Strixaluco @cascadiabound thanks for explaining to me. I'm just a dumb man.
You're just being misled by generations of misinformation... Originally it started with men, while women knew better. Then everybody forgot the truth.

Women even climbed mountains in corsets. And in victorian times maids wore corsets, too. In heavy work corsets actually helps.

Mountain climbing and field work in corsets and thigh high boots. With heels.

Definitely not a dumb man. And a lot of costuming is designed to look extra sexy and I too often wonder how actors manage sprints and jumps and other athletics in high heels. Seriously I don't know how they do it.

But it is a fact that women rock climbed (with ropes etc on major rock faces), and summitted major peaks in long skirts and corsets throughout the Victorian era.

I do 1850s period interpretation for a museum and so I wear all the things - corset, many petticoats and dresses made of many yards of fabric. In some ways it's completely ridiculous. However, in wearing such things I've learned that the corset is essential to wearing the skirts and petticoats because all that fabric is supported by the corset - without it you can't manage that many yards of fabric on your hips alone. And yes, I can do a full day of work in those clothes - gardening, laundry, cooking, sewing, ironing, etc etc.

The weird things people do... lol

My wife is in NYC with friends and I had to get out of the house so I went to our neighborhood sushi place. Since I was alone I sat at the counter and struck up a conversation with a friendly Korean couple. Before I knew it they’re pouring me shots of shoju, Korean sake, like we were old friends.
This on top of the sake I’d already had and I’m back home ready for mischief, or I’ll fall asleep, whichever comes first.
